truth is i dont pay much attention to the mpd so i planned on rereading some of the more relevant mpd cases to refresh my memory but im drowning in shinran content so unless there's suddenly a high demand i dont think ill be able to do it 😭

off-the-cuff, id probably say yes though lol

the mpd's competence really falls short considering that shinichi’s solving their cases left and right. their ineptitude shows even more next to someone like inspector yamato, who i remember being pretty sharp

with that being said, if i had to pick the smartest one in the group, id probably go with takagi. he has his moments and he's the only one who ever questioned shinichi's identity so

Personal redraw challenge - Aquarium case

I really wanted to redraw a scene from the aquarium case because some of the Shinran frames in that episode were just not it.

I actually finished this one months ago but ended up never posting it because I wasn’t satisfied with the colors. I had decided to go for more traditional colors, outfits, and the simplicity that came with hand drawn tv shows. And I do think it looks good, but I feel that overall, it clashes with the fish in the background :p

LMFAO, am i crazy for actually wanting this to happen?

Thinking about Shinichi changing his mind about not confessing to Ran, like he said to Haibara in that post Desperate revival arc episode. What made him change his mind? What exactly changed from there? Well, the antidote coming back into the picture did.

After Desperate Revival, the antidote wasn't a thing anymore. Therefore, seeing that there wasn't any way for him to come back in his original body, he decided it was best to not confess his feelings to Ran, because he knew that confessing would make her want to see him more, and since he couldn't do that, for who knows how long, he decided it was best to not make her suffer like that, because she didn't want to see her cry because of that.

After he accidentally got another prototype of the antidote and seeing there were other available as well, compared to when he took it the first time, he probably thought, "Well I can confess to Ran, and there would be a possibility of me actually being able to show up more often."

Another thing was also that, now that he actually showed up after a long time, him disappearing out of nowhere was getting more and more upsetting, which then came all crumbling down in the London arc. Shinichi actually saw that whatever he chose to do with Ran, it would still make her suffer anyway, him not revealing how he felt like and seeming like he didn't care about her was actually what was making her suffer, and well at this point, what other choice does one have, even though he definitely wasn't planning of confessing that way.

Well, even though he saw the antidotes as a safe way to get back to his body, he hasn't considered the fact that he actually can't do that when he pleases. First of all Haibara is pretty set on not giving it to him, second he doesn't realise the way the antidote is starting to shorten on him, he noticed, but didn't fully realise. During the school trip the last antidote didn't even last him that much, he started to shrink again before the sunset, compared to the first antidote he took that made him last until late evening.

I'm pretty sure that the pill he is secretly keeping will be the pill that actually makes him realise that he can't be able to take it without making its effect shorten more and more, and will make him realise that the antidotes were just short term solutions and the confession will make it go exactly as he thought it would have gone, and now the long term will make it challenging, and it will definitely create some problems

my unpopular opinion is that shinichi's primarily clueless when it comes to ran

a few reasons:

shinichi's been struggling to predict her reactions since the day they met (because she's a dolphin and he's a shark)

despite being a genius, he can be a bit dense sometimes (which imo is good, because it gives him layers and makes him human)

ran successfully hides her pain from most people

to summarize: in my opinion both statements are true. he can assess how she feels when he pays attention. which he usually does btw. but when he's distracted or unprepared it can fly under his radar and even catch him off guard

How can you make a female character who knows how to kick butts, while the male character has football, I guess, and think, ah yes the male character is the one who protects her, like be for real
