17 weeks old and someone just laid their first egg! I'll find out soon enough if it's a real egg or a fart egg lol

Honestly I love my leghorns so far. They aren't skittish or loud as I've been told and they're trained to go in and out of a cage for transport every morning and night to be carried between the roosting coop and the day pen. Sadly that time is coming to an end and they'll have to go live in the henhouse soon. I know their volume will probably change once they start laying, but I'm really surprised with how quiet they are for chickens in general so far. The hens are starting to squat when I reach for them so I'm excited for eggs soon. 🥚

your post about almost eating a bug reminded me that when i was young, i was picking blackberries with my family and i found a huge shield bug. my brain mixed up the commands and i accidentally put the shield bug in my mouth 😭

My only surviving turkey baby went missing from the chick pen and man I was so panicked she was lost forever in the tall grass. And then she popped out into the path and immediately went to sleep in my hands. Little thing is so tired from her adventure now.
