He has been in Chicago six days. He complains he's not in a shelter yet. He complains about sleeping on the warming bus. He complains about the food. He says he "must have a house."

He has not even been here one week. Do the migrants notice apartment buildings everywhere? Who do they think reside in those? Americans. People whose families have been here for 100 years or more. Why should he be given a house after six days?!

Or a job. Or anything? Do they want us to feel pity and reduce our own standards even more? Do they want to bankrupt this nation as every other such nation becomes bankrupt (too many taking, not enough giving back) or do they want us to approve more donations to other countries?

Then other countries complain that the U. S. sees itself as Big Brother to the world and as the boss (which we don't.) We really get no respect or love no matter what we do. Some will hate us anyway. Some are here to take. "Oscar" as much as said so. He wants money, opportunities, and a house. After six days. These are his own words.

I have seen many commenters who say they are from other countries, e. g. Mexico, who said the migrants from Venezuela could not be pleased. That their citizens would offer work for cash, offer clothes or food, and it would be declined or thrown onto the ground. Were there no other countries between Venezuela and the USA which would have been a safe place for him to work and live?

And how does "I want a house" qualify as asylum?

Some see the western countries as an easy mark. Period.

I have to take a moment to pause and post this as it hits so close to home for me personally.

I am electing to "borrow" and repost something I saw posted last year as it is so poignant. I hope you take a few moments in the next few hours to reflect.

On this day, 22 years ago (9/10/2001):

🔹️246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights

🔹️2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning

🔹️343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift.

🔹️60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol

🔹️8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift

None of them saw past 10:00am on Sept 11, 2001.

In one single moment, life may never be the same.

As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight, before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted.
