Le Mans 2025 : the sequence of events in the MotoGP race

14:00 : First Warm Up lap. All riders have slick tyres on but the rain has just started falling down on the track. During the lap, several riders are sliding, Fabio Quartararo almost crashes.

14:02 : End of the first Warm Up lap. All the riders enter the pit lane to go for their wet bike.

Too many riders in the pit lane so the race is red flagged and a quick start procedure is announced.

14:07 : Race declared wet.

14:08 : Quick start procedure. All riders leave the pit lane for a sighting lap. At this point, they're all supposed to join their qualifying spot on the grid.

14:10 : The rain has now calmed down. At the end of the sighting lap, half of the grid decides to get back in the pit lane to get their slick tyres bike, that includes : Fabio Quartararo, Marc Marquez, Alex Marquez, Fermin Aldeguer, Maverick Viñales, Franco Morbidelli, Raul Fernandez, Pedro Acosta, Brad Binder, Joan Mir, Fabio Di Giannantonio, Enea Bastianini, Ai Ogura [group 1 / 13 riders].

Riders who decided to keep their wet bike and join their spot on the grid : Pecco Bagnaia, Marco Bezzecchi, Jack Miller, Johann Zarco, Alex Rins, Luca Marini, Miguel Oliveira, Lorenzo Savadori*, Takaaki Nakagami [group 2 / 9 riders].

*Lorenzo Savadori was indeed part of that group but as per the information that we are given at a later date (the data from motogp.com + the tyres graphic shown on lap 4), it appears that he had slick tyres at the time (which means that he hadn't made the switch to wets yet at any point).

14:11 : Second Warm Up lap. Group 1 starts it from the pit lane. Group 2 starts it from the grid. All riders from group 1 have been awarded a double long lap penalty.

14:13 : All riders rejoin their qualifying spot on the grid. Race start.

14:15 : End of lap 1. A couple of riders from group 1 enter the pit lane to switch to slick tyres : Luca Marini, Marco Bezzecchi, Alex Rins, Pecco Bagnaia.

After one lap of the race, only 4 riders have wet tyres on : Jack Miller, Johann Zarco, Miguel Oliveira and Takaaki Nakagami.

14:16 : Beginning of lap 3. Riders from group 1 start being notified of their double LLP and some of them start doing their first one.

While some riders crash (Fabio Quartararo, Brad Binder) and some riders take care of their LLPs, the rain starts falling again.

14:21 - 14:26 : Due to the rain getting heavier, all the riders on slick tyres go through the pit lane to change to their wet bike.

14:28 : Beginning of lap 9, everyone is now on wet tyres. All LLPs have been served (Ai Ogura still has one but he serves it that lap). Johann Zarco is leading the race. Miguel Oliveira is 7 seconds behind him. Marc Marquez is P3.
