Little Things I live for

When you smile at a baby and she smiles back,

When you see the joy on a needy person’s face when you give them alms,

When you buy something for a loved one with your own money,

When someone says that you made their day,

These are the little things I live for.

When a random person offers to help you,

When you wake up, realizing you can sleep a bit more,

When you make eye-contact with an unknown and they smile back,

When you and your friend say the exact same thing at the same time,

These are the little things I live for.

When a baby holds your finger with its tiny hands, and doesn’t want to let go,

When your parents say that you make them proud,

When you cook something and it actually turns out to be good,

When someone who means a lot says that they love you,

When you realise your hard work has finally paid off,

When there’s that citric flavour in your tongue while eating oranges,

When you get back home and realise you have the whole day to yourself,

He’s hot and he’s handsome,

He takes this seriously, for he knows it’s not a game,

Since we’ve been together, life’s changed gleefully.

In so many things, we are very similar,

We have a dozen differences but it does not matter,

To his voice, smell, eyes, smile and him, I’m a prisoner,

If you’d ask me, Food or Him, I’d choose the latter.

He’s funny too and we love recalling memories,

Our talks always end with a ‘Bye, Love you.’,

We can go on gossiping about dumbheads for centuries,

To each other, we’d never want to say Adieu.

To my best friend

My best friend is someone I would never want to lose,

For she means everything in the world to me,

The first person I share anything with, good news or bad news,

She lights up my life like lights on a Christmas tree.

She understands the words that my mouth doesn’t speak,

She comforts me when I feel devastated,

For anything and everything, she’s the one I seek,

In my life, she’s the most celebrated.

It’s true, she gobbles up all my food,

She can be really annoying at times too,

What she’s gonna do next depends on her mood,

In a very serious situation she may even say “The cow goes Moo”.

She never agrees when I say that she’s beautiful,

She never accepts credit for anything,

She’s an awesome soul, its provable,

Don’t get her pissed coz something at you, she will fling.

Sure, she has her own negative side,

But life is beautiful when you focus on only the good,

For me, being with her is a pride,

After finding her, the meaning of love and friendship, I understood.
