Color theory is huge in the genre and also this game specifically, but somehow I never considered Hoseaās scarfs or Guarma showing more red for Dutch
Recently learned that the color of the vest and tie Arthur wears during the Saint Denis ferry gambling mission changes depending on if you have high or low honor (blue for high and red for low) so now i am obsessed with the idea that the prominence of the colors red and blue on certain gang memberās outfit also reflects their honor level.

Whittemore variants versus Arthurās default outfit, which doesnāt have a scrap of red on it, however no matter what his blue shirt is always fucking dirty and stained. And remember the gang criticizes you if you have blood all over you.

Hosea wears the blue vest (sometimes brown) but he generally has his red neckerchief on, but he also owns a red and black scarf. Mostly good but a little bit of bad.

Red is prominently featured on Micah. His entire shirt is red and heās usually wearing his jacket like heās disguising his nature. Even the the grips on his guns have red. And when you rescue him from Strawberry he does not have his coat.

Dutch is the most interesting to me. He has the checkered red scarf which he rarely wears and the red pocket square over his heart. Only the back of his vest is red, like heās in denial about it, or that itās only possible to see who he is when he isnāt facing you and putting on a show. Meanwhile on guarma his vest is suddenly backwards or smth?

Once I loved a man who was a lot like the desert, and before that I loved the desert. It wasnāt particular things but the space between them, that abundance of absence, that is the desertās invitation. There the geology that underlies lusher landscapes is exposed to the eye, and this gives it a skeletal elegance, just as its harsh conditionsāthe vast distances between water, the many dangers, the extremes of heat and coldākeep you in mind of your mortality. But the desert is made first and foremost out of light, at least to the eye and the heart, and you quickly learn that the mountain range twenty miles away is pink at dawn, a scrubby green at midday, blue in the evening and under clouds. The light belies the bony solidity of the land, playing over it like emotion on a face, and in this the desert is intensely alive, as the apparent mood of mountains changes hourly, as places that are flat and stark at noon fill with shadows and mystery in the evening, as darkness becomes a reservoir from which the eyes drink, as clouds promise rain that comes like a passion and leaves like redemption, rain that delivers itself with thunder, with lightning, with a rise of scents in this place so pure that moisture, dust, and the various bushes all have their own smell in the sudden humidity.
Rebecca Solnit, from "Two Arrowheads", A Field Guide to 'Getting Lost
#I live in the Sonoran Desert#if you grew up anywhere but the desert like I did growing up in the plains and then Appalachia#the desert is not what you imagine#itās so much more#people need to know#youāll understand conservation on an entirely different level once you understand the desert

I love the first one especially, the implication they just scooped Arthur up and are trying to get him much needed nutrition.
More sketches! I started drawing them as werewolves but they turned out as puppies š

I think thereās a good chance Eliza was with Arthur when she was 19, because while the game has its fingers sunk into a certain gritty realism Arthur himself is not realistic, at least not to the average man of the time; heās a feminist who rejects any form of racism, is friends with several effeminate men with no further thought on the matter, doesnāt sleep with prostitutes and pays child support of his own volition.
I believe Arthur was made to be flawed but not in a way that turned a modern audienc off, and sleeping with a kid would break the cowboy fantasy I believe was highly curated.
I hate that the isaac and Eliza timeline is fuzzy
Cause just based on the dialogue it can be assumed a few ways
But in the context of the game and how the characters talk about Arthurās past dating life it seems like no one knew about his little family?
And he says that she was nineteen, nineteen when they had isaac? Or when she died?? Because I canāt see Arthur sleeping with a fifteen year old when he was much older as he refers to himself as a child when he was that age
I always thought of Arthur and Mary being quite young when they got together (with the dialogue that they were just kids) and that after they cut it off Arthur then slept with Eliza due to heartbreak
And with the dates that would make him around 21-24 ish?? Cause it doesnāt make sense with Arthurās character that he would be so much older than eliza, or that them being together happened anytime shortly before the game started cause it āhappened a long time agoā
So that would make isaac and Eliza dying around 1887 seeing as Arthur directly compared his son to jack so that would make him around 4-5?
Anyways lots of thoughts and I wish it was confirmed
#also donāt quote me but the average lifespan was skewed by infant deaths and people lived longer than Hosea on the regular#if Arthur was in his 20ās I could see a 40 year old version of himself refer to that as ākid#I think I answered .10% of your query#I want to know who the hell else knew about Issac
