Incoming rant so you’ve been warned but. My god, being disabled, a woman, and fat is such a terrible combination lmao especially when it comes to the medical field and how you’re treated within it. Women’s health concerns are already never taken seriously; we’re constantly accused of exaggerating our pain or making it up completely, or told that it’s psychosomatic and all in our heads. Add being fat where an unfortunate majority of doctors will blame everything on your weight and you really get nowhere.

I will admit I am EXTREMELY lucky to have a doctor who is truly wonderful, though. She never brings up my weight (it also helps that she knows I have the same issues even when I’m at a lower weight, and knows that 4 of the medications I’m on cause weight gain) and almost always addresses any concerns that I have. But I’ve personally had, and have read about, so many bad experiences that it still fucks me up and has caused me to internalize some of the dismissiveness and fatphobia, which I’m trying REALLY hard to undo!

For example, I’ve had absolutely no appetite for the past week or so. And that’s extremely unusual for me lmao I’m usually always hungry even though I have stomach issues, and normally eat well throughout the day. But especially for the past few days, I’ve barely eaten anything. It’s clearly NOT a good thing; I have absolutely no energy because I already deal with chronic fatigue, and it’s just worsening my chronic symptoms in general. But my first reaction was “well, it’s okay, I can afford not to eat because I weigh 220 pounds” which is the complete wrong way to think of it but my brain has been somewhat conditioned to think that way. So I’m trying to un-condition it lmao

There’s not really any point of this aside to say that it’s really tough to be a disabled fat woman. I know I’m far from the only one who has dealt with this so if you do too, you’re not alone! Stand up for yourself and your medical needs!! 💕

I despise the grocery store down the street from my house lmao. I just went in after work today, and for the record I felt like I was looking all cute with my new shorts and tank top and lashes. The cashier gives me my total and I said “okay, I’m paying EBT!” and this teenage girl has the audacity to say “...yea, I know” 🤣😭 mannnnn wtf
