It has literally always been a lie.  These lies have killed millions of Americans over the years.  It has cost the US Trillions of dollars in lost efficiency and higher healthcare costs over the years.  It has helped drag down the life expectancy of the US, meaning, ultimately, that Americans have lost hundreds of millions of years from their lives.

It was always a lie.

This does remind me of one of the few good scenes in Not Another Teen Movie.

I think the studyblr community especially needs to hear this. You don't have to be productive all the time, you need rest. Recovering from internalised capitalism means unpicking all the messages from family, friends, school and workplace that have reinforced the idea that you are a commodity, and that your worth is based on what you do. Your worth is inherent.

hayley williams got ripped to shreds over one misogynistic song to the point where she’s had to publicly personally apologize multiple times and has retired the song live and yet every male pop punk band is sitting on albums worth of songs that are misogynistic and violent towards women and they’re all just chillin…….. curious………. i wonder what the difference is…..

When people defend cultural relativism regarding abuse towards children, women and minorities it's obvious they only see humanity in the men of the dominant groups, that's who they empathize with

They don't stop to think that, maybe, those people don't want to be abused

Maybe these women don't want to have their genitals mutilated, maybe those little girls don't want to be forced to marry grown ass men and be violated by them, maybe these school girls don't want to see their school uniform be overly sexualized, maybe gay people don't want to be outlawed, maybe children don't want to receive physical punishment from their caretakers

You certainly could find out those people are fighting against a culture that actively harms and oppresses them of you listened, but you would rather defend the side of their abusers and oppressors, maybe you just wish you could do the same
