Alastor's friends are comprised of magic and the energy left behind when a soul is erased. Their souls, their minds, their memories, all gone. What little sentience they have comes from Alastor's own will: If he takes a shine or an interest in someone, as do they. If Alastor dislikes someone, as do they.

Now, being a creature comprised solely of magic, energy, and will power, they have no need to eat. They will, mind you, clean up a scene left in Alastor's wake by consuming whatever bones he might have left behind, but they will never eat of their own accord.

Thus, when the third shadow flits out of the kitchen with a beignet, something Alastor himself won't eat (but will prepare alongside Niffty for a chance to catch up), the stag had questions.

The first shadow came and went with little question. It was likely bringing a treat to Rosie. It wasn't until the second came and went that Alastor raised an eyebrow, and then the third came and made it abundantly clear: They aren't taking gifts to Rosie-- they are not leaving the hotel.

Thus, Alastor follows the third shadow. His jaunty footsteps come to a halt upon seeing... an interesting sight:

Gritt. Wrapped in a blanket. With several shadows circling him... and several snacks set out around him.

The Radio Demon leans against his mic as his eyebrow once more raises to a comical degree.
