i spend more time writing tags than actual fic at this point (follows from @radiant-mists)

i hate diet culture for many reasons but one of the big ones is this weird dichotomy where prepared foods are EXCLUSIVELY either 'diet' or 'indulgent'.
I want to get energy bars for my car but theyre all either <150 calories or 50% sugar. you go to a cafe and the food options are either a chocolate pastry too rich to eat in one sitting or an egg bite thats like $10 for literally one bite of food. i asked someone to pick me up canned soup while i was sick and she grabbed the 'light' version for sodium reasons and its only 130 calories!!
just because i dont want dessert or pure salt right now doesn't mean im on a diet! and even if i was counting, if something is replacing a full meal it should be AT LEAST 500 calories!!
i have things to do and i need energy to do it, please just sell me food with food in it!!

WHAT IS THE FUCKING POINT
#this is basically how nimona works bc shes always bright pink and has the same voice#anyway 'whats the point' the point is to be a bird and go flying! to swim like a fish! to experience the world in all forms imaginable#not being able to use it for deception/anonymity still leaves you with infinitely more flexibility than you have now

Having your main anxiety response be Avoidance is crazy cause you'll think you're chillin and then one day you're like waitttt I've been paralyzed with fear this whole time. Damn
#the stupid part is that i realized this around the same age that op did and 6 years later i still catch myself doing it#knowing does help a bit but its such a hassle to constantly have to be like 'what am i avoiding rn'#because there are always like ten things on the list whenever i summon the will to even think about it#also its SO embarrassing when someone wonders why you didnt do something you had plenty of time for#and the honest answer is 'i was too afraid of it so my brain put it in the temporary amnesia box'

Why isn't "too scary" a good enough reason to never drive a car
#i had to take my test three times#the second fail was. complicated. but the first was 100% because i was too scared and it made me a hazard#and like yeah ive gotten more comfortable with it through practice#but the thing about the practicing part is. everyone just tells you you have to do it even if youre scared#but there are a lot of decisions in driving that come down to 'is it safe for me to move or should I wait'#and a lot of the time people around you will be impatient for you to move and honking at you and trying to get around you#and if you've been conditioned to ignore your own judgement of whats safe when driving. it does not lead to good decisions then#edit: also idk op's situation but i think this question needs to be re-imagined#to 'why isn't the danger of human-driven cars a good enough reason to develop good public transit'#in places where the transit system is decent MANY people don't drive#but if you need to drive to get to work or the store etc then like. people have a point that its an important skill#but it IS dangerous and it isn't unreasonable to be scared of it#DUIs alone should justify a robust public transit system

I have a tagging question. I'm writing a fic where character A is aged up from his canon age and shipped with character Z. I realized that aged up A is actually nearly the same character as his prototype version, character B, because A is just a younger B with a slightly different personality and background. But because this is an AU, the background doesn't matter and the grown up personality is all speculation anyway. The fandom considers A and B as different characters despite having the same name, but B is a very rare character that's almost never written about while A is a main character.
For this fic, should I only tag A/Z or is it fine to also tag B/Z, since this was intended to be older A but he's so similar to B he might as well be the same character, and I think B or B/Z fans may also like this fic? I like both A and B and their ship with Z, so I know I'd like it, but I don't know if I'd help or hinder people with this. I'd mention that this character is basically a fusion of A and B in the author's note so that people who don't like one or the other are still informed and can leave.
Hmmm. I think I'd personally just tag A/Z but then add a sentence in the summary along the lines of "Can be read as B/Z too"
That said, I can definitely see the case for tagging both since A and B have the same name. Now you've got me second-guessing.
I think I'll need to open this one up to a poll:
Please add nuance and/or explanation in the notes!
#honestly (using alpha/beta homestuck versions as my reference concept) i think the best play is to tag both#and mention in the tags/authors note that its a fusion#worst case someone will comment that they find it misleading and then you can remove it#but depending on the canon i can absolutely see situations where both tags would be appropriate#and if you really think people who like b/z could read it as that ship and enjoy it then why not put it on their radar#(IIRC with characters that have versions there are sometimes catchall character name tags so like. check for that!)#(what do you think are the odds op IS writing about homestuck)

Superman desperately scanning the street during a fight to find the most morally acceptable car to throw at his opponent, knowing that not everybody has insurance, and loss of transportation can ruin a life -
A wave of incredible relief washes over him as he spots the hard geometric lines and silver paintless sheen of a Cybertruck.

As someone who's been a lover of traditional folk music from the British Isles for several decades, one thing I've learned is that "True Love" didn't always mean what you think it means. In the older songs, "true love" is not some mystical quality, some type of connection that is magically better than other Loves. No. A love that is "true" merely means that your Love is "true TO YOU." "True" as in faithful and loyal and trustworthy. A lover who will stand by you and with you no matter what comes. True the way a good sword is True. True the way a good knight is loyal. The contrast is "False Love," which is a lover who betrays you, who cannot be trusted.
"True Love" isn't something you find, it's a vow and a choice that you make, every day, to BE TRUE.

As a society we have benefited so much from successful public health measures that we now have the privilege of declaring that we must not need them anymore
Bitch before enriched flour, neural tube defects like spina bifida were far more common. Even now, spina bifida clinicians and researchers are begging to have salt and maize fortified to reach groups that don’t use as much flour. Before iodized salt, the United States had a fucking GOITER BELT. Eleven years after the introduction of fluoridated water, a city in Michigan found the rate of dental caries among school children dropped a staggering 60%— in an era where tooth decay regularly fucking killed people
I’m literally not even going to start on vaccines, which are among the most successful and robustly studied public health measures in world history
You might say “oh well today we all have access to vitamins and toothpastes and dentists so we don’t need those things in our food supplies” and boy do white people on social media loooove to fucking say that. But here’s the thing: no, people don’t all have easy access to those things. That’s privilege talking yet again
