This curse is weak at first, but as Sandygast grow they are able to possess stronger hosts, who will transform their sand mound into a deceptive castle. When wandering Pokemon come across a mature Sandygast, they may be dragged into a sandy vortex and devoured. Trainers in Alola are warned to keep a close eye on their Pokemon when taking a trip to the beach.

I started writing up this whole Essay about how the first novel I wrote as a youngster was garbage in many ways but boy was the antagonist a Guy Of All Time, I was really struck by lightning with that one, even as an adult with much better skills I have not made anything else that goes as hard as he did

then I realized the formula is just "guy has the best one-liners, a ton of baggage, and spends the entire back half of the story Suffering,"

& I was like "oh wait nvm I've continued iterating on him this whole time"

Not "It's a product of it's time" as a way to excuse its problematic undertones but rather "it's a product of it's time" to say that the issues it tackles were relevant then and its stances that now seem milquetoast were radical then, and that heavy handed, cheesy driving home of those viewpoints was sometimes necessary, and our acceptance and normalization of those viewpoints is in large part because of media like it normalizing those viewpoints and imagery, and watching it in the modern day turns into a loving study of history of the masses and public opinion
