theo van gogh was the one who suggested that his older brother vincent start seriously painting. as soon as theo was gainfully employed he gave vincent around 15% of his own yearly salary for art supplies, lodging, and food. about 2/3rds of vincent's surviving letters were to theo (including vincent's earliest and last letters), all of which were found stored in theo's desk. theo's child, vincent willem, was born on january 31st, 1890, and vincent was so delighted by his nephew that he painted almond blossoms for him. vincent shot himself half a year later on july 29th, 1890. theo's distress at his brother's death worsened his syphilis symptoms and he died half a year after his brother on january 25th, 1891 (four days before vincent willem's first birthday). theo was reburied next to vincent in auvers-sur-oise at the request of theo's wife johanna.

I think being autistic has made me realize how extremely hostile the environments we have designed are. And I don't mean "this environment is uniquely hostile to me because I am autistic" I mean that even normies are just existing in brutal, stagnant spaces, they have just internalized them as normal. We could have it all, we could live in such a beautiful and fascinating world, designed by humans and for humans who actually enjoy life and it's complexity and wonder. but even now it's like, seen as kinda hippy-dippy bullshit to have "excessive" indoor plants in a workspace or something

“Oh boo hoo you shouldn’t ask your friends for favors we’re all adults”
I just spent three hours pulling up carpet and staples for a friend’s home renovation and we all did nothing but chat and joke and have wonderful conversation the whole time.
Helping somebody move or renovate or giving them a ride to the airport is functionally the same as going mini-golfing or playing a board game: it’s an activity that you do that is made more fun by having good company, and which provides something to talk about when the conversation lulls.

I got stung by a jellyfish today and it didn’t feel at all how I expected. I thought it would be similar to a wasp; an initial sharp stabbing pain that faded gradually. But instead I barely felt it at first, and then it turned into an itching, and gradually intensified into a deep burn over several minutes. I was very surprised by how unusual it was.
I started thinking about it and that actually kind of makes sense. A bee or wasp uses its sting defensively. It’s supposed to hurt right away, to tell whatever is bothering it to Fuck Off. But a jellyfish isn’t defending itself, it’s hunting. And once something is tangled in its tentacles, it’s already done for. The venom doesn’t need to have an initial punch of pain, it can take its time. The prey isn’t going anywhere. Obviously this depends on species but yeah it does make sense that jellyfish stings feel very different than wasp stings.
The sheer diversity of ways that animals can hurt you is beautiful and astounding.

I don’t like the latest ep of resident alien like what were the writers thinking.
HEATHER RANDOMLY SHOWS UP, KILLS THE VILLAIN IN A MATTER OF SECONDS, THEN FINDS HARRY AFTER HE TIME TRAVELS TO 1970 AND THEN BACK TO 2025 AND THEN TELLS HIM TO MEET THEIR KIDS?? WHAT??? Also these kids look scary bruh like they look that bird twink from helluva boss
Tumblr media
Like bruh why they look like that. And also Harry isn’t technically the father anymore cuz he’s HUMAN. And doesn’t have his alien dna / energy anymore
