Leah, why is today Dracula Day? :D
It is World Dracula Day because 120 years ago Dracula was published on May 26, 1897. It is also Dracula Day because every day is Dracula Day.

Go ahead and use (cis) women without uteruses as an argument piece, but I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen a woman who’s had a hysterectomy tell other women not to talk about their anatomy.
While we’re on the subject, I don’t think I’ve seen a woman with PCOS tell other women not to talk about regular periods.  Or a lesbian tell straight/bi women not to talk about contraception.  That’s….So….Weird….

did anyone else see the edward snowden interview in the guardian about two days ago where he said that most of the NSA agents doing checks through people’s data are men aged 18-22 and that when they access photographs of attractive women naked they all send them to each other for reasons that are 100% not professional
like, if you have naked selfies on your phone, even if you have never sent them to anyone or moved them anywhere, these fucking mouthbreathers could be downloading them and sending them to all their friends

Weed is toxic to dogs and cats.
No I’m not talking about CBD. I’m talking the weed you smoke.
THC is toxic.
Do NOT ignore it if you see your dog or cat eat weed. Do not take it for granted, do not think it’s just funny when your pet acts spaced out or trembly. Theyre not having a bad trip, theyve ingested a poison.
It affects some animals more than others so you have no idea how it’s going to affect your pet.
Today, we had a 20kg dog eat a grape sized, non grinded, bushel of weed.
The next morning he was found collapsed, non responsive in a puddle of his own vomit and urine.
He was on intensive care and constant monitoring throughout the day and night but was thought to be brain dead by lunchtime on the day of admit. He had seizures, brain swelling and was comatose. He needed someone to breathe for him. I can’t even begin to explain the extensive meds and fluids he was on.
He was euthanised as eventually no more meds could be added and it was assumed he either had too severe brain damage to ever recover, or he was actually completely brain dead.
The owners didn’t want this, it was just lack of awareness as to why they didn’t bring him in sooner. He seemed okay at the time. They were devastated when it all was over.
So what I can’t stand, is all these videos of people laughing at their cats “getting high” whilst hotboxing or making memes out of their dogs that have got into brownies.
Don’t do it. It’s so stupid.
It can and will kill your pet a lot quicker than you think.

I really dislike how women in period movies are made up according to modern beauty trends. Im tired of seeing Roman women with perfect eyeliner and Marie Antoinettes with peachy blush. I'm sick of contoured Cleopatras and 1920s flappers with 21st century lipstick.
Its not just about historical accuracy, it's a matter of female class consciousness. If the women in these movies were made up according to the trends of previous epochs, it would really throw the fleeting (and frankly grotesque) nature of make up and beauty trends into the spotlight. Renaissance women with plucked foreheads, Elizabethan women with glaze-like egg whites smeared on their faces, Japanese women with blackened teeth, Aztec women with ochre on their skin to make it look yellow...
From our 21st century pov, these things sound disgusting - not to say completely ridiculous. With the hindsight of a couple centuries, it's easy to point out how grotesque these trends were. How grotesque women had to look. And we might think that our standards are better, but this will be us in a couple of centuries too! How will people in 200 years think of our make up trends? How will they perceive our contoured faces, our hairstyles, etc? I don't think they'll be fawning over pouty looks and structured eyebrows.
Making women up according to our modern trends in period pieces airbrushes the past and prevents us from realizing not only how ridiculous previous trends were but also how ridiculous our modern ones are. This isn't just about historical accuracy, it's about women realizing the many forms misogyny has been taking throughout time, and not being fooled by its current shape.

[id: the video is divided into 16 squares. in each one, an LGBT person is doing something such as reading, preparing food, playing with their pets, washing dishes. it is overlaid with an audio of the Turkish president's recent speech saying "LGBT? No such thing exists. This country is national, spiritual". when he says "no such thing exists", people disappear from the frame, leaving only the background]

don’t know if you saw this (cause she blocked you) but this mf really thinks that 14y girls shouldn’t be able to criticize porn culture...or better yet not have a ‘bad’ opinion about it. brainworms. porn culture literally affects teen girls
Yuck why am I not aloud to have a bad opinion on a harmful industry just because I’m 14? If it wasn’t for porn I wouldn’t have gotten into so many harmful kinks. I’m gonna criticize it for as long as it exists.

A new report has found that local men distributing food and other international aid in Syria have been withholding deliveries from women unless they agree to give sexual favours.  “Examples were given of women or girls marrying officials for a short period of time for ‘sexual services’ in order to receive meals; distributors asking for telephone numbers of women and girls; giving them lifts to their houses ‘to take something in return’ or obtaining distributions ‘in exchange for a visit to her home’ or ‘in exchange for services, such as spending a night with them,‘” the new United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) study found. The abuse was widespread across governorates in Syria’s south and particularly affected vulnerable women and girls “without male protectors”, such as widows, divorcees and female IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons), said the 2018 ‘Voices from Syria’ report, which examines gender based violence.
