New refs! Wanted to tweek Ren's outfit a bit and facial consistency yay

Rambling under the cut if you like

It isn't any big changes, just tiny details I wanted on his design for a while now and keeping it simple so I don't hate myself for drawing it over and over.

The necklace was definitely a long time coming, made with pieces of scrap metal. Making jewelry with scrap is one of his less known hobbies. This necklace in particular he wears all the time because he believes the pieces of scrap from his destroyed mothership. Yay story telling in design!

Changed up his spine augment, made it more simple for my own sake and gave him extra earrings because why not. Mapped out his most prominent scars too.

More detail for the tattoo because I should give it more attention as it is the only one I gave him. Added the little dagger on the hand for reasons

More defined triangles in his overall clothing because shape language, triangles = dangerous but his body in general is rounder. More story telling! Shown character depth!

I wanted the clothing to go in a more "piratey" direction too, personalized the coat more, with wings on the shoulders and skull on the back in between them. Also more gold accents and two side gunslinger belts. Love belts.

I got to make a real full body ref, expressions and a ref for his weapons.

RT appreciation week! I love Rendall, he's such a Creature and his augmetics look so cool, the gold face plates and the fang implants are so awesome. Was there a specific accident or fight where he got the face/jaw plates, or are they decorative? (P.S. I also love your Einrich art so much of course 👀)

Thank you!! Yeah those are my favourite parts too, I used to dislike drawing them but they have grown on me. I'm glad he comes off as a creature heheh

But he does have them for a reason! It was a joke while first designing him that he had a punchable face and was a trash talking ass. It stuck because he still is this. So that developed into the face plates being from multiple fights over years when he was part of gang. He got most of the damage from being involved in a deal gone wrong which resulted in a nasty brawl, he still came out winning but had his face broken. Thankfully though he was one of his boss' favourites so he always got fixed up. Can't fix the extra brain damage he probably got though.

So they actually do have a function of keeping his face together plus protecting those parts from further damage! The face plates he has now however are definitely meant to look more decorative however as the ones he had before becoming a crime lord were not as symmetrical or even. Side note, he has lost many teeth too for the same reasons, his front ones are almost all implants, especially the gold ones. Because if you are going to get new teeth, especially in wh40k, why have them all be boring? And bonus they're stronger than regular teeth so he shouldn't lose them again 👍
