Being asked by your daughter to kill her is an experinece, to put it very lightly. The fact that she is also the daughter of your late closest friend/lover is even worse. I mean, look at Celine:

I know it was dark before, but oh my God...

All things considering, Celine took the whole situation in extremely well. But she will not walk away from that tree without a lot of new traumas

dipping my toes little bit on headcanon territory-

imagine Celine’s mom was once the leader of the previous generation, powerful hunter and gracious singer, but something happened, like getting a serious injury or something due to pregnancy, resulting on her impeccable to operate on both fields. So Celine has to live with a frustrated and emotinally unavailable woman, never receiving proper maternal love in general. Maybe following the demon hunter path was the closest thing she could have with her mother, even she didn’t want it in the first place, so she did dedicate wholeheartly for her mother, to be in end her personal safe haven.
