Further Competitor Research
I came across another small business known as Hogs Bottom Preserves. They are a small manufacturer situated in Devon
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I really admire the overall label design however strongly disagree with the typeface choice. I think the typeface looks more suited toward youngers and could work well in a nursery or primary school however the seller is not trying to do that so I believe a different typeface would have been a far stronger suit.
Tumblr media
One thing to take back from this is how they are very active on their social media facebook page. A good seller communicates with their audience and notifies their audience of any updates or perhaps new flavours in stock. I believe this is essential for a strong sense of trustworthiness with the customers and seller.  - Also include location on the label? - Amount in grams? - A simple but minor detail is to perhaps repeat the important details on the front of the label?

Inspiration for new designs?
Tumblr media
I plan to turn around  my previous designs and perhaps create some patterns based off other designs I have seen, these work best

Vibrant Color Palette: Use bold and vibrant colors that evoke a sense of energy and excitement. Opt for rich hues like deep reds, bright oranges, and vibrant yellows to make the packaging and branding visually striking.  Patterns: Incorporate bold and eye-catching geometric patterns into the design. Play with abstract shapes and bold lines to create a visually dynamic and modern look that grabs attention.  Typography with Impact: Choose bold and attention-grabbing typography for the brand name and product labels. Experiment with thick and expressive fonts to make the text visually powerful and memorable.  Graphic Illustrations: Create bold and graphic illustrations that showcase the main ingredients or flavors of the preserves. Use strong outlines, vivid colors, and dynamic compositions to create visually impactful visuals.  Contrast and Texture: Utilize strong contrasts and textures in your design to create a bold and tactile experience. Combine smooth surfaces with rough textures, glossy finishes with matte elements, or create high contrast with bold color combinations.  Playful Typography: Experiment with playful and unconventional typography treatments. Consider distorting letters, overlapping text, or incorporating text within illustrations to create a visually dynamic and bold effect.

What to improve on?
After thoroughly going through my feedback, my main areas to improve on within this module should be the ideation as well as the final outcomes. To do this, I plan to also research a little and create some new polished and far better outcomes than I previously had. I also plan to create some new ideation pages as the previous pages were not acceptable. To begin with ideation, I plan to create an entirely new page and create roughly 50 ideas (25 each page) to help me visualise a style of design I want to move forward with. I could also create a few idea designs for the different outcomes. A main issue for this module which I did not include was development and reasoning for why I chose certain final outcomes.

3 Evaluations
1.  I initally had decided between VisCom Showcase brief or Bellringers, however after hearing all the briefs at the end of the day, I had concluded the Bellringers brief to be the most compelling. I personally felt like this brief would be most suitable and enjoyable for me as well as improving my skills in rebranding. I was able to spot out clear mistakes at first glance when examining the brief and was eager to rebrand the small company. I appreciate how the client included a lot of useful information such as ingredients being locally sourced as well as many preserves being organic or vegan friendly. This already gives a leading edge as it helps as a selling point. Furthermore, after analysing the brief, I was already interested in the website aspect. The client owns a website under the domain  - bellringerspreserves.co.uk and another domain under the URL rrgp.co.uk. I believe the client wants to shift the brand name from ‘BellringersPreserves’ to ‘Regans Really Good Preserves’. This would make the  domain rrgp.co.uk unsuitable as it’s an abbreviation which may look like a government website or such. I would personally shift the domain to ‘RegansPreserves’ or ‘RegansReallyGoodPreserves’ or perhaps just ‘Regans’  Here includes the Home page on the website. I personally don't think the aesthetic of the website is too bad, however it could definitely use some some sort of alignment and refurbishment. Grouping the different preserves into categories would be most suitable here for the store section which currently looks like this:It does need to be a lot more organised and I would also remove the picture on the top left side of the website as it is far too small and low quality.Alongside the website, the first thing I actually noticed during the brief was the typeface. I plant to modify this to something a little more presentable. I should keep my tone of voice and target audience in mind. The client also communicated their tone of voice which would be friendly and approachable as well as their target audience which would be foodies and farmers markets. Im a big foodie myself and was already interested in this brief giiving me another reason to work on this brief.. I decided to team up with a classmate and we both had ideas but were given feedback on how it may not be suitable, such as using the mascots such as Paddington Bear and Aunty Lucy. Overall, I believe I was able to pick out many assets I’d like to modify in this brief and feel as if this brief is most suitable for me and my skills. The other briefs didn’t catch my interest as much as this as this brief has more of what I wanted to see in a brief than the others.  I hope to improve my rebranding skills and redesigning skills within this module. I also plan to improve my communication skills as presenting is something I struggle with as I tend to get nervous. 2.  After our client feedback, we had to take a big turn as most of our ideas were unsuitable. We had planned to evolve our ideas around the ideas of the mascots which had significance to the brand however were told this would not be allowed due to copyright. We were also told our typeface which we were planning to go forward with was also disliked. This prompted us to move in a very different direction and use a typeface slightly similar to the original typeface. As for the mascot idea, we decided to create our own mascot as we felt  a mascot would still be a great way add some light and a way to identify the products. Our mascot would be called the name ‘Regan’. We also decided to change our tone of voice to a little more approachable and friendly, however it’s important to not rebrand our designs into something childish. It was important to us to not create lots of characters but rather have one mascot who we call ‘Regan’. 3. Overall, I feel somewhat accomplished with what I have achieved during this module. This was my first ever rebrand, however I did feel it was a little letdown due to having to scrap my ideas following the client pitch feedback. I definitely could have performed a lot creating stronger ideas and designs but it was a enjoyable and good learning experience. What I did like was website redesign as I felt I neatened up the website from its previous state but feel I could have done a lot more with the A6 cards and such. In conclusion, It was a good experience but I hope to achieve much better in the future.

Website
https://raihanchughtai.wixsite.com/reganspreserves The website URL which has been reserved by the owner is www.rrgp.co.uk. We would plan to change this to something a little more discoverable such as www.reganspreserves.co.uk

We felt the current website is too hard to read, using a bold typeface with no sort of alignment. We aimed to allow for easier clarity and navigation. Store

Developing Logo
We came up with two different types of logos, one being a symbol, and one being a text based logo.
Tumblr media
We wanted to create a mascot after being informed we cannot used the Paddington Bear and Aunt Lucy mascots due to copyright. We made our own mascot and plan to call this Regan.
