I figured out the rest of the rain as well...
How it would splash on the ledge and then slowly trail down as well...
With this I think I am done with the Preproduction phase for the rain part of the project... I think I would also build on this concept in the coming three months.... I would love to go ahead with this concept if I am done with perfecting this shot...

Alright time to get the rain fixed for other parts... i.e. walls....
I know this is not the scene I am making... it's me trying to master rain... and if i manage to make rain react to most random surface I can make the final scene in no time...

This is what Splashes and Trails combined looks like. Also colored it blue for better view of the sim.

FOR EXPLOSIONS
I went back and watched more films... and watched and observed shots with cool explosion shots....
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These cinematic explosions balance spectacle and storytelling—showcasing how scale, light, and movement can be used not just for impact, but to shape atmosphere and rhythm. They serve as key visual references for developing believable fire simulations with narrative weight.
Explosions that balance spectacle with story—using light, motion, and scale to guide atmosphere and tension. Essential references for dynamic fire simulation.

Coming back to this scene there were 5 things to look for in this scene....
Explosion Core
Rain Interaction
Wind Influence
Light Spill
Silhouette Framing

B32 Phase 2
Now for Cape... this gave me an opportunity to go back and watch movies... I mean the best part about learning FX for me is I can call watching films "RESEARCH".... I went back and watched the Man of Steel and Justice League for Superman..
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Superman's cape feels somewhat heavy on the ends and feel the pressure points change sometimes according to the scene and action sequence.
As Snyder's Superman had majority Cape shots CGI... these feel different at many instances.
Tumblr media
Pattinson's Cape had mix of practical and cgi shots.
I think this shot was CGI as the cape and the fire seemed going with the same flow of air.
Also as they added CGI Rain in this shot... I am guessing this was a cool shot to look for reference.
His cape felt more latex or maybe majority of the Gotham in this film was in rain so maybe that was making it look so heavy and leathery/plastic I know they are two different things but I can't seem to put a finger on it(literally cause if I could I would know).
Tumblr media
Also Bale's was the only cape that I could feel the material for the cape.
The reflection feels muddy and grainy making it feel "velvety" (hoping that's how we spell that)
After researching a lot.. "Memory Cloth" is the material being used for Capes in the comics.... But as I said this cloth feels somewhat velvety and that's what I think I'll go with... for my sim...

B31 Phase 2
If we go deeper into Rain...
I researched more on this scene and I found out that WETA created the rain digitally in this scene.... giving them more freedom with rain as this scene was shot in London and shooting a high speed chase in rain makes it difficult as for the stunts the cars may slide off...

RAIN AND BATMAN

So when we look in this scene we can break down rain into 5 main parts...
there is spray/splashes from the surface...
then head rain puddles i.e. water stored in cavities...
surface droplets? the droplets forming on the surface? I mean that's self explanatory right? Then there is Droplets falling off the surface...
And the downpour of rain
I guess that breaks down the rain mostly...
