...i think this was sent last year some time. haha what's up :') i am still alive! i miss you all and i kinda miss tumblr in general even!

it feels a little bit silly to make a giant post about not coming back after a months long hiatus, but you know. this place was important to me and i like the people i met here, so it feels a little nicer than just ghosting forever.

like a lot of people, i've been feeling pretty ambiguous about social media and how it fits into my life. in the last year

i started noticing how reactive social media makes me and i don't like it. obviously i was aware intellectually how much social media rewards hot takes and rage bait, but it's either gotten worse for me or i've gotten more sensitive to it.

if that wasn't enough on its own, an irl friendship fell apart in great part because of social media - going through my posts to read them in the worst possible light, getting mad, then posting pretty openly about me (where i could see it) with contempt and anger. the underlying reasons we don't talk anymore would probably still be an issue, but the ways they were exacerbated by social media really sucked and i don't particularly want to repeat it!

watching family members get radicalized by social media has been a truly miserable experience.

i got busy lol. i've always had a lot of hobbies and i've started taking a couple of them more seriously, and i'll also be starting grad school (on top of work, wish me luck) in august; i straight up don't have time to be Posting

anyway when all signs point to logging off actively improving your life, sometimes it is best to log off to actively improve your life. i have no plans to delete this blog or anything, and who knows maybe i'll log back on to post through grad school, but at least for now i have no active plans to come back.

if you wanna keep in touch, my discord username and the username on this blog are the same. i also still have an instagram that i update extremely infrequently.

regardless of how much we talk/if we talk at all in the future, being #onhere was both often a good time and also a really invaluable community during a very turbulent time in my life, and i am glad to have met you all. i hope you're doing well! i hope your lives are good! perhaps we will meet again sometime!

An underrated horse fact is that if you have horse that is both A. Not stupid and B. Likes you, it will actively try to prevent you from falling to your doom when you fuck up as a rider. Like actually make an effort not to drop you like a cell phone. I think horses deserve more credit for that.

I'm not a prayin' man, but the night I found out my at-the-time-fiancé had been sending sex horny nasty horny sex asks to my friend on THIS VERY WEBSITE, I sat in the car in the parking lot of an abandoned church and watched a family of deer play in the snow, and it didn't quite feel like a sign because that part of Pennsylvania was mostly deer and abandoned buildings and snow, but it felt nice, and once the tears stopped, I looked down at my phone and my other friend had sent me a text that said, "HE'S TRYING TO CHEAT ON YOU ON THE ONE DIRECTION IMAGINES WEBSITE?" and I realized that life is all about your curated experience. A real choose-your-own-adventure deal. I have never seen someone post about One Direction on here in my life.

there was this lazy. lazy trick my mother used to pull. she’d want to weasel out of something, some power struggle she couldn’t win. and she would suddenly get So Sad, and the topic would switch on the fly to the Terribly Sad thing we needed to talk about right now, how it rooted her in this Horribly Sad and Lonely territory in the middle of nowhere without a friend in the world to love and protect her. and the goal was to get you to go on a little spur of the moment rescue mission to find and console and nurture her in this Awfully Sad isolated universe and bathe it in the light of total love and acceptance. and forget whatever it was you were talking about before.
