Raising Gordon
995 posts
My name is Chelsea and I'm a 22 year old mother to a handsome man named Gordon. Gordon decided to join us in this world on December 25, 2012 This is a place to share my thoughts and experiences throughout my wild adventure I call motherhood while I finish my nursing degree and become the future Mrs. Kelly.

I must say it takes a strong mom to have a child (especially toddler) with medical problems. Has it been hard to deal with? Did you have to change your daily routines much? Just curious. Haha. Really proud of you though!
Why thank you for the message Anon! I wish you would come off Anon, though!
Dealing with Gordon's diabetes has been a long, hard journey so far. However, it DOES get easier and easier every day that we live with it. However, we do have very bad days and VERY good days. Now that he has his insulin pump, he seems more and more like a normal toddler.
Our daily routine is this: Wake up, test blood sugar. Give insulin if high, or carbs if low. Eat breakfast. Give insulin to correct for carbs actually eaten, not how many are on his plate. Play, play, play. Test blood sugar before lunch, give insulin for high or carbs for low. Eat lunch and correct for carbs eaten. Nap. Test blood sugar before dinner. Correct as needed. Eat dinner and correct for carbs. Play, play, play. Test blood sugar before bed. Correct as needed.
Repeat.
Thanks so much Anon.
