Human greed knows no bounds. How can it, when it literally implies that it should not have bounds? The thing is, no one really acknowledges its power and those who do tend to ignore it and attempt to live in bliss, convincing their minds that what they are doing is morally neutral. Greed is what led to this new society we live in.
Of course, I cannot write further without mentioning the catalyst that formed this society Gene Therapy. Of course, the intention behind its innovation was good - as is the case for all medicine - but of course, human depravity had to ruin it. Cancer, a disease that ravaged humanity for many years has many treatments, most not being permanent or having horrible side-effects, but when the new tested and revolutionized Gene Therapy was introduced, it became an instant hit with the doctors, especially since its side-effects were beneficial.
In essence, the chemicals and equipment required were pretty easy to access and hence it was fairly affordable, but capitalism had to make it extremely expensive - not because it cured cancer, but because once it did, it left the affected part improved. People with brain tumors developed IQs of over 400. People with leukemia became physically resilient and some even developed superhuman strength. People with cancer that affected certain parts such as eyes, would gain more than perfect vision, while those with cancers that affected internal organs gained extreme longevity, practically nearing immortality.
This was a radical improvement of course, not only for people but for society itself. It had limitless potential to do good and improve lives. People would not die so easily, especially loved ones. Those living in horrible conditions could get better healthier lives and disease could become a concept of the past because once a person underwent Gene Therapy, that particular organ could never be affected by any sort of disease, and even after their death, it could regenerate itself and be harvested to be donated to others.
And that was when greed reared back its fanged head and struck. One of the first things to happen was the ensured longevity of the rich. No one above a certain net-worth would ever be affected by disease and on top of that, some would even gain superpowers. Imagine a world where rich, spoilt brats had superpowers and could do anything without harming themselves.
Many organizations were already attempting to weaponize cancer and make it contagious. Advancement in medicine, of course, did help and those that were on the verge began harvesting cancers and selling them on the black market. Rare or more powerful ones such as leukemia or brain cancer became extremely expensive, however, all types of cancers required “cancer-donors”, who would willingly donate their cancer for a chance to be healed and earn money as well.
In an attempt to stop this black market trend, governments began to legalize cancer donations and to capitalize on this, began charging purchases of cancer and the associated Gene Therapy taxes. The rich got richer and the poorer got worse. Nowadays a moment of happiness is when a poor person discovers they have cancer, and instead of being shocked and afraid of death, they rejoice for they have found a way out of poverty. A once hated disease now becomes one that the religious pray to get.
This cure for cancer is now cancer - cancer for society. While the rich live powerfully with near indefinite life-spans the poor get worse as there are fewer doctors needed. But what can be done when human greed knows no bounds. How can it, when it literally implies that it should not have bounds?
A new approach to curing cancer has been developed: instead of treating it, gene therapy allows the cancer cells to be altered to provide improvements to the human body, instead of destroying it.

Hey everyone! We need your help to create the best party game ever!
Introducing… What The Plot?!
How does it work?
1.) Take a Prompt Card.
Ex. ’Tell us about the time a vampire hit on you.‘
2.) You have one minute to bullshit a story.
After the minute is up, the player next to you needs to continue your story and so on.
However! There is also a pile of cards each with three words on it. Every turn you draw a card and have to use one of the three words from it in your story. Ex. breadstick, cactus, werewolf.’ If you don’t use one of the words during your turn, you lose points. If you can’t continue the story then you also lose points. And if your story is really awful, other players can play the ‘Boo Card’, causing you to lose a catastrophic amount of points. The player who is not the worst wins!
We have already found a supplier and a distribution center in both the US and Europe. We really want to know what you think. Let’s create this game together and make it the best it can possibly be. Are you in?

Whenever I see people quoting/referencing/parodying My Immortal it’s always one of the same four or five lines. You know the ones.
The iconic opening paragraph, “Hi my name is Ebony Dark’ness Dementia Raven Way and I have long ebony black hair… (et cetera).”
“WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING YOU MOTHERFUKERS!”
“I MAY BE A HOGWARTS STUDENT… BUT I AM ALSO A SATANIST!”
“Then he put his thingie into my you-know-what and we did it for the first time.”
“And Loopin was masticating to it!”
As great as those are, I’d like to throw a spotlight on what I think are some of the underappreciated parts of this classic work of fanfiction.
Ebony puts blood on her Count Chocula cereal instead of milk.
Enoby is canonically a weeaboo and speaks to her friends in Fangirl Japanese.
Harry’s scar is now a pentagram instead of a lightning bolt, so either he found some sort of spell to alter the appearance of the scar or he actually took the time to carve a pentagram into his forehead.
There is an OC named either Tom Riddle or Tom Rid who works at a “punkgoff” store in Hogsmeade and has absolutely nothing to do with Voldemort, he just happens to have the exact same name.
Tara somehow got Fred and George mixed up with Crabbe and Goyle.
The reason Snape doesn’t like Harry in this fic is because Snape is Christian and Harry is a Satanist.
Marty McFly literally appears out of nowhere to help Enoby travel through “tim” with his “tim machine.”
Chapter 11 ends with Hagrid singing along to “a gothic version of a song by 50 Cent.”
Voldemort inexplicably speaks in Ye Olde Butcherede Englishe.
Voldemort wears high heels.
Draco has a flying black Mercedes-Benz and a black MCR broom.
Snape has a Dork Mark on his penis.
Speaking of penises, Draco is apparently “hung like a stallone.” I guess Tara is a Rambo fan?
The Hedwig/Voldemort sex scene, wherein Hedwig is a male human instead of a female owl, for some reason.
Dumbledore flies around on his broomstick while holding a loaf of rye bread. At least, that’s what I think Tara meant by “Sudenly a gothic old man flu in on his broomstick. He had lung black hair and a looong black bread.”
Oh yeah, and Dumbledore is an Avril Lavigne fanboy, because of course he is.
James Potter’s “goff” nickname is Samoro, because Tara erroneously believes this to be the masculine form of the name Samara.
Draco’s singing voice is described as “a cross between Gerard, Joel, Chester, Pierre and Marilyn Manson.”
Tara’s brief feud with her editor Raven, as chronicled in the author’s notes, may or may not have had something to do with Raven borrowing Tara’s sweater and not giving it back. IDK, it’s unclear.
Voldemort smokes a “gothic blak Nightmare b4 Christmas cigar.”
McGonagall has the best insults, like “horny simpletons” and “mediocre dunces” and probably some others I’m forgetting.
Dobby only appears once in the entire fic and literally all he does is watch Snape and Lupin have sex, and then run away crying.
Sirius is referred to as Harry’s dogfather, and not gonna lie, even if it was a typo I think that is a genuinely clever pun.
The Hogwarts janitor may or may not be Chuck Norris.
Tara accurately predicted how Harry would defeat Voldemort in Deathly Hallows. No, really. “nd den hairy wil have 2 kommit suicide so voldimort will die koz he will rilly be a horcrox!!!!!111”
This line: “Snap stated loafing meanly. He took out a kamera anvilly.”
And this one: “‘Crosio!’ I shited pointing my wound. Snoop scremed and started running around da room screming.”
“Azerbaijan”
“Hoes of Wax”
“Tom Bombodil”
“Cornelio Fuck”
“Professor Slutborn”
“Preacher McGongol”
“Lumpkin”
“TaEbory”
“The Bark Lord”
 “Vadermort”

I think the real problem here is that big media corporations seem to believe that social media userbases are fungible, and persist in acting on this belief no matter how many times it’s demonstrated to be wrong.
There’s a specific pattern of events that plays out over and over (and over) again, and it looks something like this:
1. Social media platform becomes popular
2. Social media platform is purchased by big media corporation in order to gain access to it large user base
3. Big media corporation realises that social media platform’s demographics are not the demographics they want to sell things to.
4. Big media corporation institutes measures to drive away “undesirable” users, apparently in the honest belief that the outgoing users will automatically be replaced by an equal number of new, more demographically desirable users
5. This does not, in fact, occur
6. Social media platform crashes and burns
You’d think that, by the sheer law of averages, at least one person who’s capable of learning from experience would become involved in this whole process at some point.

A better, more positive Tumblr
Since its founding in 2007, Tumblr has always been a place for wide open, creative self-expression at the heart of community and culture. To borrow from our founder David Karp, we’re proud to have inspired a generation of artists, writers, creators, curators, and crusaders to redefine our culture and to help empower individuality.
Over the past several months, and inspired by our storied past, we’ve given serious thought to who we want to be to our community moving forward and have been hard at work laying the foundation for a better Tumblr. We’ve realized that in order to continue to fulfill our promise and place in culture, especially as it evolves, we must change. Some of that change began with fostering more constructive dialogue among our community members. Today, we’re taking another step by no longer allowing adult content, including explicit sexual content and nudity (with some exceptions).
Let’s first be unequivocal about something that should not be confused with today’s policy change: posting anything that is harmful to minors, including child pornography, is abhorrent and has no place in our community. We’ve always had and always will have a zero tolerance policy for this type of content. To this end, we continuously invest in the enforcement of this policy, including industry-standard machine monitoring, a growing team of human moderators, and user tools that make it easy to report abuse. We also closely partner with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Internet Watch Foundation, two invaluable organizations at the forefront of protecting our children from abuse, and through these partnerships we report violations of this policy to law enforcement authorities. We can never prevent all bad actors from attempting to abuse our platform, but we make it our highest priority to keep the community as safe as possible.
So what is changing?
Posts that contain adult content will no longer be allowed on Tumblr, and we’ve updated our Community Guidelines to reflect this policy change. We recognize Tumblr is also a place to speak freely about topics like art, sex positivity, your relationships, your sexuality, and your personal journey. We want to make sure that we continue to foster this type of diversity of expression in the community, so our new policy strives to strike a balance.
Why are we doing this?
It is our continued, humble aspiration that Tumblr be a safe place for creative expression, self-discovery, and a deep sense of community. As Tumblr continues to grow and evolve, and our understanding of our impact on our world becomes clearer, we have a responsibility to consider that impact across different age groups, demographics, cultures, and mindsets. We spent considerable time weighing the pros and cons of expression in the community that includes adult content. In doing so, it became clear that without this content we have the opportunity to create a place where more people feel comfortable expressing themselves.
Bottom line: There are no shortage of sites on the internet that feature adult content. We will leave it to them and focus our efforts on creating the most welcoming environment possible for our community.
So what’s next?
Starting December 17, 2018, we will begin enforcing this new policy. Community members with content that is no longer permitted on Tumblr will get a heads up from us in advance and steps they can take to appeal or preserve their content outside the community if they so choose. All changes won’t happen overnight as something of this complexity takes time.
Another thing, filtering this type of content versus say, a political protest with nudity or the statue of David, is not simple at scale. We’re relying on automated tools to identify adult content and humans to help train and keep our systems in check. We know there will be mistakes, but we’ve done our best to create and enforce a policy that acknowledges the breadth of expression we see in the community.
Most importantly, we’re going to be as transparent as possible with you about the decisions we’re making and resources available to you, including more detailed information, product enhancements, and more content moderators to interface directly with the community and content.
Like you, we love Tumblr and what it’s come to mean for millions of people around the world. Our actions are out of love and hope for our community. We won’t always get this right, especially in the beginning, but we are determined to make your experience a positive one.

writeblr intro!
Hello everybody! My name is Theresa - or Tez, if you prefer - I’m 24 and I guess I’m technically a new writeblr? I’ve been using my personal for writing stuff but now I’m deciding to be organised!
I have a BA in Professional and Creative Writing, and literally just finished an Advanced Diploma of Professional Screenwriting yesterday (which I’m mourning, because it was the most wonderful experience I’ve ever had). I’ve had a short film made - a concept piece for Daydream Detective, mentioned below - along with an episode for a short university web series.
For the most part I write things that fall into the fantasy genre, from noir detectives with dream manipulation and magical girls to steampunk in fictional lands and Super Metroid inspired sci-fi! Here’s a rundown of all my wips (excluding those with which I’m collaborating with others) that uuuhhh I totally didn’t just steal from my wips page:
Angels of the Melody (Children’s Animated Series; Musical Urban Fantasy)      After joining the school’s music club, optimistic teen Momo Koizumi discovers her magical powers through the art. Along with the rest of the club, she must use these powers to save art from the corrupted humans who seek to destroy it.
Daydream Detective (TV Series; Film Noir/Urban Fantasy)       Hardboiled detective Dan Avery discovers his ability to solve crimes with his dreams after the murder of his wife, Rose. Through this he discovers the Thaumaturge Association, a group of people with equally strange powers. With their help and Rose as his dream guide, Dan must find Rose’s murderer while continuing to solve the crimes around Chicago.
Space Oregon (working title) (Adult Animation; Sci-Fi)       Bounty hunter Vega Isaacks, along with her ship’s light-hearted AI and robot, Eudora, travel the galaxy, catching criminals. Vega’s priorities are soon twisted when she discovers that her brother, Rigel Isaacks, has been kidnapped by a mysterious figure.
The Curious Professor (Novel; Steampunk/Adventure)       11 year old Tori Aston leads a life she believes to be boring until she meets an odd professor by the name of Jack Langsdale, adventurer and creator of fascinating machines. Together, they journey Eldland in search of the country’s remaining secrets.
My life dream is, much like everybody here, to be an author or a screenwriter, or both!
On this blog I’ll probably be reblogging a lot of writing advice stuff or just generally yapping away about my own projects or crying about how much I love my characters (side note, my characters page is completely empty right now. I promise to get to it at some point). I may also upload a bit of my own art here, and hope to commission some from artists!
I look forward to meeting everybody in this wonderful writing community! ♥

I just woke up and I am absolutely touched to see that dozens of courageous and loving people joined @prideknights. Welcome, everyone, welcome. I am so glad we all got together to share a positive yet powerful message. I am very grateful that you are here.
The inbox is filled with positive messages from fellow Pride Knights. Yet there was one negative message and for some reason, a negative message is always much more impactful than a dozen positive messages. It makes you feel bad or it hurts. It takes ten seconds to read but it sticks in your mind like glue for the rest of the day, making you feel miserable. It might have been shallow hate or a nasty remark, either way, you may start doubting yourself.
Throughout my life, I have had countless experiences with negativity and I would dwell and dwell on it. But then one day it clicked, why do I spend valuable time and energy on this? Why do I let this ruin my day?
So the next time someone said something negative about me I would ask myself the following questions:
Does dwelling on this remark improve my life?
Do their words make me grow as an individual?
Is this worth spending my time on? Is it worth thinking about?
If the answer to these three questions is ‘no’ I asked myself these two questions:
What is it that I want out of life? It could be working towards a goal, towards happiness, or anything else.
And what small action can I do right now to make that happen?
Whatever the answer is. Go do that. Right away. Your health and peace of mind are valuable.
Timing is key. Ask yourself these questions right after someone says something hurtful.
It’s simple. Not easy, but simple. And with time, this skill is going to be one of your most important assets in life. Twenty years from now, you don’t want someone’s opinion of you ruining your day, or worse, maybe your entire life.
This is not to say we should avoid negativity altogether. We can’t. Take it as an opportunity to become more resilient and grow stronger. And maybe, just maybe, if you can, try to be grateful for it as well; taking something negative and turning it into something positive makes you grow as an individual.
Same goes for positivity; welcome it but don’t dwell on it. Appreciate compliments, but don’t let someone else’s words define you. What if they take those words back or you stop hearing them for a while? You start doubting yourself again.
You define yourself. Take the words from others as a guide, but only you have the power to decide what to do with them.
