Study of MHA dorms (Part 5)

This part will focus on the mystery of the bathrooms. The only explanation I can figure out is that the ground floor is a lot larger than the upper floors (unless the bathrooms are located in a secret basement).

Once more it is time to gather information. So far this is the only scene taking place in a bath/washroom.

There are at least four washbasins. There are 6 girls and 14 boys and they all have to get to class at the same time, so it is important everyone can get ready in time.

In this manga panel we can see two doors at the back of the dorm. According to the dorm room layout the building stops after the kitchen, however if we assume the ground floor is larger, the back of the building is the perfect spot for bathrooms. We also saw Midoriya running from that direction, passing by Kaminari,Mineta and Tokoyami, after brushing his teeth.

To Todoroki’s right we can see the door opening in the anime.

This is a layout idea with seperated bathrooms. There is enough space to play with designs. I went for an “onsen style” bath. Basically the baths are made up out of 4 rooms.

1. The toilet rooms (one of the stalls could be larger for bigger students)

2. A wash area to brush teeth with shelves the students can keep their toothbrushes and other products, so they don’t have to carry them up and down every day.

3. A changing area with shelves where clothes and towels can be left.

4. The bath area with where students can simply shower or shower and then take a bath in the larger bath tub. It is said that UA is a privileged school and they seem fancy enough to provide something like this to their students. I also assume they have showers in the gyms/ training areas.

I further added a gap between the kitchen and the bath area. This gap is hinted at in the anime. I figured students could have washing machines or cleaning/gardening supplies there.

Sorry for the awkward perspective. Down below is the shower/ bath area, to the upper left the toilet room and to the upper right the chaning room.

Here is an example of a public bath in Japan. I would consider this a clean, well kept example, though there also are more run down/ or more luxurious examples in terms of design (tiles, tub, mirrors etcs.)
