A couple of weeks ago, depite already being nearly two weeks into 2021, I came up with prompts for my 2021 Reading Challenge. There were already good ones online, but many had ones in that I wouldn't realistically be able to do amongst good ideas, so I created one of my own. If anyone wants to join in, feel free! Even if there is only a week left of January!

BOOK REVIEW!
Prompt: A book borrowed from the library.
Synopsis:
Joe Clayton thought the dangers of his undercover career were behind him. He was wrong. One grey October morning, while working in a quiet Bristol street, he hears the voice of the man who has sworn to destroy him. Minutes later Joe is running for his life again.
Desperate for sanctuary, he heads for the small Cornish town of Trelennan, and the home of Diana Bamber, widow of a former police colleague. But Diana reacts strangely to his arrival, and gradually Joe discovers that Trelennan is far from the idyllic, law-abiding resort it claims to be.
The town is in the grip of one man. Leon Race doesn't welcome strangers, especially ex-cops who start asking questions about missing women. Soon Joe is caught up in another undercover role, but as he penetrates the web of secrets that ensnares the town's elite, his own secret is at risk of discovery. And all the time his old enemy is circling...
Review:
**spoiler alert** Includes possible spoilers, but I don't go into much detail so I don't give too much away!
Good things about this book:
Fast paced that made it difficult to put down. I didn't want it to end but I couldn't wait to find out what happened next!
PLOT TWIST. I don't often see plot twists coming, and that was the case with this one! I only cottoned on when it was clearly hinted at right before it was told.
Bad things with the book:
What the shit was that ending?! It had a lot of loose ends that didn't really get tied up, but rather just almost explained away. It was like a half-arsed attempt was made but a 'whatever, it doesn't matter too much' attitude was applied.
Oh, and of course there was a storm that caused a powercut! -eye roll-

Can’t believe I only found out yesterday that this film exists and is coming out in June! I feel like I’m failing as a fangirl! I know MIB is coming out soon too though, so maybe I’m not awful. Sometimes it’s good having odeon limitless.

One of my favourite places - Astley Book Farm. I want a personal library one day that’s as cosy as this room!

Over the past week I’ve read Through His Eyes by Emma Dibdin and The Deviants by CJ Skuse. Both were brilliant and I’d recommend both to people.
Through His Eyes took a couple of chapters before it really got going, but I knew that this was to set the scene and was necessary for the story to make sense. Once it did start getting into it, it was intriguing and pulled me in to read more.
I’d decided to read The Deviants as I recently read a couple of other books by CJ Skuse and loved them. This certainly didn’t disappoint and I read it so quickly (especially for me). It had a good amount of suspense in it and kept drip feeding information, keeping me reading. I’m still not over the ending!
