John & Julian Lennon with Paul McCartney & Alex Madras return from their holiday in Greece | 31 July 1967
#such cool photo#i call them the Pippi Longstocking pants#although it's not really Pippi on them#it's amazing how different the boys dressed in diferent periods#but I feel like these outlandish outfits actually fit their character more than the normal and sleek clothes from other eras#it's a pity it usually takes too much energy and courage to wear pajama-like pants and a flower coat#but they were relaxed in them then

Happy birthday to Jim McCartney's beloved red piece of meat, Donovan's beautiful two-headed monster, Martha the dog's adored owner, Yoko Ono's great threat. Happy Birthday to Mike McCartney's tender older brother, George Harrison's older brother by nine whole months and the baby brother Ringo's Starr always wanted. Happy birthday to one of the only men Bob Dylan considered a threat, Stevie Wonder's friend, Brian Wilson's admirer, the man who Derek Taylor briefly hated more than anybody else and the person who sent Dusty Springfield flowers in her time of need. Happy birthday to the guiding light in Stella McCartney's life, the man who fought a ram to defend his children and the man who let kids play with knives to teach them life skills. Happy birthday to the man who feels love so much that it comes out in all body tingles, who sees stonehenge as the heart chakra of the earth and who just really really likes buses. Happy birthday to the 1960s pin-up, the indie rock forerunner, the flop movie maker, the writer, the 1980s chew toy, the vegetarian advocate, the protester and the council lad from Liverpool who changed music forever.
Happy birthday to Linda McCartney's prince charming, John Lennon's extraordinary dear one. Happy birthday to today's Mozart, Yesterday's creator and everyones grandude.
Happy birthday to the Gemini who isn't just a Gemini, but a whole constellation.
Happy birthday Paul McCartney.

Happy 60th anniversary to... this...
The Beatles (minus Ringo) and Jimmie Nicol at their press conference in Adelaide, 12th June 1964 - part 1
#it's almost sad how touching this little moment is#but it's also so cool too how they constantly had their own connection going apart from whatever the media#not everybody would break the seriousness of the interview for an inside joke moment#but they did because the talk between them was important for them too

i’ll follow you down 'til the sound of my voice will haunt you / you’ll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you
#Even though it's nothing special I love that story#I think it wasn't that he was so attuned to Paul's voice#he'd probably have recognized other voices as well#but he was INTRIGUED that it was Paul#he cared enough to take notice of it#and to comment on it#he just cared

I honestly didn’t expect him to find a way to mention John while answering a question about »Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey«, but he proved me wrong.

There’s so many things about John and paul that just devastate me but one thing that genuinely makes my chest feel tight is when Paul said that he has dreams about John to this day; more specifically that recurring dream where his hofner is covered with sticky tape and he’s trying desperately to take it off while trying to talk to John. the symbolisms of that dream alone is insane and heart wrenching. I could only imagine the dreams he doesn’t tell us about.

A 1964 North American Tour entourage photo. One of the opening acts on that tour — The Exciters.
“Tamla Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. The Impressions. Marvin Gaye. The Exciters.” - George Harrison, Detroit press conference, September 6, 1964 Q: “George, I understand that from here you’re going, later on next month, down south. I understand you’re pretty against the segregation down there and we understood there were some problems about the hotel you might stay in in Jacksonville.” George: “We don’t know about our accommodations at all. We don’t arrange that. But, you know, we don’t appear anywhere where there is.” - Denver press conference, August 26, 1964 “We never play to segregated audiences and we aren’t going to start now. I’d sooner lose our appearance money.” - John Lennon, quoted by BBC News “That was an amazing and phenomenal experience. That was one of my favorite experiences in my career. When we worked with The Beatles, we flew first class. […] We just had so much fun with them. They were so down to earth. They were not full of themselves. They had the weirdest sense of humor. They were always clowning around in front of famous people. We were young teenagers and acted like it… teenagers are silly. […] [W]e were down south and they heard that the Exciters were on the tour and they [said] that no black people can work at the Gator Bowl… it's segregated and it's not allowed. We were about to cry again and we were saying to Brenda [Reid]’s mother ‘What are we going to do?’ The Beatles said ‘What do they mean the Exciters can't play? The Exciters are on the tour and it's a package deal. Whoever is on the tour, that's who is going to perform on the show!’ They told us ‘Ladies, don't worry about it, we're going to take care of it.’ The Beatles took a stand and I will honor them for as long as they live on the earth. They did it personally… not their manager or this one or that one. They said ‘If the Exciters are not singing on the show, [then] The Beatles are not singing on the show either.’ They didn't care whether black people never sang there or not. We were the first black people to sing there.” - Lillian Walker-Moss, musicguy247 dot typad dot com

JOHN and PAUL + eye contact
#my favorite has always been the eye contact during Hey Jude#Paul's actively searching for John's attention there even though it's subtle to see#and he's supposed to be very busy singing the song#but he finds the time to look at john#and it's a bit inexplicable what exactly they're trying to say with those smiles and gestures at each other#and this was 1968 I think#Yoko was part of the scene already#but they still seem so tied#also they look at each other like they're brothers#John is looking at Paul as if he's Paul's big brother a bit distant but supportive
