Thousands of protestors singing “Do You Hear The People Sing” in a Hong Kong international airport. This is part of a 3-day sit-in and is only one example of the many marches, rallies, and sit-ins that are occurring daily.
The people of Hong Kong are fighting. Please do not let their voices go unheard around the world.

americans are wild.
theres a convo on reddit going on rn abt how europeans see americans working conditions and a bunch of americans are like "its really not bad unless you work an entry level job, i have a medium wage job i got with my degree and i get about 15 days of paid vacation a year and i even get some sick days and can accrue more, the people complaining are low wage workers who should get something better"
like. you realize that for a fulltime job 20 paid vacation days are mandatory here right? and that even entry level job offer more paid vacation days? and that any ot you work gets paid more AND counts as more vacation time right? like if your work week is 38 hours and you work 40 hours a week you get paid overtime AND an extra paid 12 vacation days a year right? and that sick days are mandatory to be paid by your employer right? that theres no limit on sick days, right?
you realize that what youre listing as good benefits is literally the bare minimum here right?

I just. I don’t like this view of “millennials vs Gen Z”. This is NOT supposed to be a competition of who got fucked over the most and who’s “actually fighting back”.
Millennials are fighting back just by surviving in a job market where the minimum wage doesn’t cover the living cost. Millennials are awesome at “killing” the diamond, golfing and napkins industries. Millennials are using the internet to make sure things that corporations want to keep in the dark are exposed. They’re open LGBTQIA-friendly business, they’re supporting each other with online donations so everyone can survive this shitty economy.
And the Gen Z kids? The Gen Z kids are rad. I remember a post about something like the millennials making a collective promise to never become a disenchanted generation that only criticizes the next one and I want to point out that this “millennials vs gen z” trend is trying to do exactly that: split us apart. Prevent millennials from being the older siblings that teach the younger siblings to throw a good punch and turn them into the annoyed adult complaining about “those kids” on their lawn. We are the two groups that grew in a connected world of information. We are two very unique generations.
I think that it’s our duty for us millennials, as a disrespected, underpaid, very angry generation to stand up by our younger siblings, and fight together the oppressive systems that brought us all to this point.

I’ll be damned if anyone tells me Star Trek: Voyager wasn’t one of the most underrated TV shows there ever was.
Why do I say that? Two words: Captain Janeway.
The character is a trailblazer at defying normal tropes of fictional women by simply employing male-centric aspects effortlessly. She’s largely defined her ability to lead, not by romance to another character. She’s a starship captain because of her personality, not her gender.

The outrage that The Good Place is ending after season 4 kind of astounds me. What were people looking for in a show that tightly-plotted? There’s only so many escalations of the stakes before it’s comical/Supernatural, and it’s not like a sudden midseason cancellation that leaves us and the writers unprepared.
The whole point of TV should be to tell good stories, and those things have natural conclusions. The Good Place will get the ending the creators chose for it, at the time they picked themselves, and we will get to enjoy it as a complete and really excellent story.
