Sagada: The Shangri-La of the Philippines
Tumblr media
"Sagada is known for its scenic and calming mountain valleys, rice fields, limestone caves, refreshing waterfalls, and cliffs that come with a sea of clouds." according to Gem Muzones (2022)
Sagada is a town located in the Cordillera Mountain, within the Mountain Province. It is a vast valley consisting of many beautiful sceneries that will leave you in awe. The people in Sagada are also heartwarming and beautiful, they treated us like we were no strangers to them. They welcome you with open arms and fill you in with their history and how their culture works.
Places you would want to go to in Sagada:
The Sumaguing Cave - it has the largest enclosure from the 60 caves found underneath Sagada. With a tourist guide, they will lead you through the trail. The entire trail is divided into 3 levels:
Going down the cliffs (caution: it’s slippery and full of bat wastes)
Level 2 - Rock formations (reminder: shoes and slippers will be removed)
Level 3 - Get wet in the tunnel (prepare: move through narrow openings and wash in stone-cold water)

The View at Kiltepan Peak and Marlboro Hills - This is the part where the clouds are like waves in the sea. But I recommend that you wake up early in the morning to see the sun rising from the clouds.
Tumblr media
The Lumiang Burial Cave - The place where you will see 500 year old coffins and the tour guide will fill you in about its' history.

Thats all my experiences in Sagada, it was a one day trip so all of it happened very quick but the experience is nothing I've ever felt before. It felt like a fever dream being in Sagada, you won't even think that you're in the Philippines
