NORWAY WORKSHOPS Part Three
DAY FOUR
On my last day I ran a Public family workshop event which was SO MUCH FUN because it was people of all ages and abilities so it was looser and improvisational than my school workshops which gave it a very energetic and freewheeling vibe that the participants and myself had a lot of fun.

NORWAY WORKSHOPS Part Two
DAY THREE
I was back at the vocational college at Haugesund for another full days workshop with two different class of teens.

The art was a bit more advanced this time and the stories were a lot more mature.

In the evening I was driven back to Skudenshavn to take part in a roundtable discussion with two Norwegian comic creators for the festival where we talked about our work and process.

Afterwards we took part in a game of Pictionary on stage whilst answering questions from a live audience and those watching online. It was very madcap but fun.

NORWAY WORKSHOPS Part One
Just recuperated from being invited to talk at the inaugural I-CAN International Comic & Animation Festival in Norway last week.

Spot my name on the festival poster!
BOY, was it fun!
Let me tell you all about it:
DAY ONE
On Wednesday (18th Sept) I was up bright and early to run a full day's comic workshop at a vocational college in Haugesund.

Teenagers usually take some time to warm up but this class was so into the process of making comics but needed a bit of coaxing to formulate their ideas.

In the evening i had dinner at a restaurant by Smedasudent harbor.

It was a really picturesque setting and the building walking back to the hotel were really old timey and a tad Moomin Village in their design.

DAY TWO
Me and the fab Audun Nedrelid, who was running the Animation Workshop, travelled to the scenic windswept coastal town of Skudeneshavn to run two mini workshops - one at the junior high school and one at the primary school.
The Junior High kids were a bit subdued but really seemed to enjoy themselves and came up with some fun concepts.

The Primary school kids though were quite a hilarious bunch who came up with so many terrifically whacky ideas I was super impressed and inspired by their energy. They came up with ideas quickly. Too quickly - which tested me to beef up my lesson plan on the fly.
A journalist from the local paper covered the workshop and interviewed me about my hopes for the festival - you can read that interview here: https://karmoynytt.no/larte-elevene-om-animasjon-og-tegneserier/19.09-02:32?fbclid=IwAR01dF7Cs9aU3n7VeD4L6IrDKWMCT-qvHzHzJFTvfyLH3ovQTX0fP9tKP6o
