Random Random Things

The giant heap where I overshare and put whatever random things I want. (30s They/She/Whatever confuses me the most at the moment)

Seriously how can a kid go from an hour of yelling and crying at you to playing and wanting you to engage with their make pretend?

I'm spending entirely too long trying to find the source of this image. Should be easy throw it into google lens and find the earliest reference and check their source, or just find an archived of all printings of Lustige Blätter in 1932.
The earliest source I can find for this image is this article from 2014 which is may be where the 1932 comes from the file name for the image is "Lustige-BlaCC88tter-1932-...". And I cannot find any copies of Lustige Blätter from 1932. I did find an archive for Lustige Blätter but it doesn't go to 1932. What it does have is an item 32. And that seems my best bet at this point. That the image is from 1917 and got misinterpreted as 1932. I've downloaded that year and I'm now scanning through all 800 pages one by one.

From German magazine Lustige Blätter, 1932.

I don't really get the "use a cast iron pan as a weapon" trope. I have one. That thing is heavy and it has a tiny handle. I can't really swing it one handed easily. And I actually tried to I would probably shatter my wrist (and then the pan, cast iron is brittle). It doesn't really have enough room for two hands. If I did try to use it that way I have absolutely no reach and might as well just use a big rock. I much rather use my stainless steel pan. That thing is much lighter and has a longer handle. I can easily swing it with one or two hands. And it won't shatter the second I hit something with it.

Structurally, Heathcliff in its present form is just shitty referential meme humour where 90% of the time the punchline is "laugh because you recognise this reference", except the memes it's referencing exist only in the author's head, which explains basically everything about why Tumblr is into it.

Turns out Plato was kind of a little bitch about what constitutes good "wholesome" art, which really wouldn't be a big problem except that he's like the founder of western civilization, so now 2400 years later, we're still dealing with his bullshit
