Finally, I'm adding more to my Second Chance AU based on the info we got from Siren's Rest! And a possible ending to the AU! Along with some AU memes I thought of!
The King Brothers cling to each other like koalas. They aren't getting separated again.
Depending on how devout Sunil is, he either prays or just holds his idol.
Finlay gets her lighter back. It's the least she deserves.
Rennick is still a bastard of course, a second chance at life after hell isn't going to completely change him.
But as he hides in his cabin, he thinks of his twin grandchildren, and he can't help but think about how scared they'd be if they saw him like the way he was. About what would happen to them if he ordered the drill on. And that is what makes him decide to destroy the Beira and what lurks beneath it.
I'm not a writer, but one way the Second Chance AU ends is with Rennick organizing the crew into different groups tasked with getting the rig ready to explode. They all agree that no matter what happens, the Shape can not reach the surface. Ever. He leaves his office and actually goes down to help the crew.
Caz is off in the hallway, changing light bulbs smiling like an idiot while the others are practically in hell doing the exact opposite of what he did "yesterday." Until Roy gets him and nearly throws him into a lifeboat.
Trots has got a damn clipboard checking who's where and doing what, getting everything ready for the crew to leave.
In the end, Rennick stays behind on the rig while everyone leaves in the lifeboats and chopper, mirroring Cazs final actions by destroying the rig, sacrificing himself in the process.
I thought up a few memes for the AU!
Caz, after being told to get his ass in the lifeboat if he wants to live:

Roper, fighting everything he has in him to not strangle Rennick:

Gibbo after looking at Douglas for one second:

Brodie after hearing 'Raffs' and 'Diving Bell' in the same sentence:

More SWTD Second Chance AU Thoughts!
Obviously, the crew can't just all stop working on the rig (despite no one but Caz being ok to work), so characters like Finlay, Addair, and Gibbo have to work, or else the rig would break down.
Roper threatens to throw anyone who tries to start the drill overboard. Brodie threatens to do the same to anyone that mentions Raffs going in the dive bell.
The crew is fairly divided on whether or not to tell Caz about what happened 'yesterday'. One side thinks he went through enough for them all, and it would be kinder to let him live in ignorance. The other side wants to tell him to see if it'll jog his memory so he can tell them what the hell he did to restart the day.
(The answer would be nothing. He'd be as confused as everyone else.)
After the day shift ends, there's a long line of people at the radio room waiting to call their loved ones. Gibbo is the first one there.
The crewmates' memories of 'yesterday' end at their deaths, so Innes has no idea about the chopper crashing or Rennick turning (or Muir carrying him around for hours).
But most people remember how hard Caz tried to save them all. O'Connor and Trots both remember vividly how Caz apologized for not being able to help them.
Once Trots is finished with his panic attack, he goes to the radio room to start calling in every favor he has with the NSOWU to get the Beira decommissioned.
The darts finale is postponed until further notice.

Figured I'd compile all the things I found/noticed/learned during my playthrough of Still Wakes The Deep Siren's Rest.
SPOILERS BELOW!
Innes wasn't Muirs deputy/supervisor. It was a man named Cor van der Bijl, who, from what I could tell, died uninfected.
Archies' body can be found, along with the helicopter. Not to far from it is a life boat, presumably the one Caz tried to use that fell.
Sunil was Hindu. He and his wife had matching idols. She still has hers.
The Shape mutated into coral underwater? Not sure what terminology to use.
Rennick was a grandpa to twins. He was meant to be off the rig caring for them that Christmas. Cadal had put him on notice due to underdelivery.
Scooby was eighteen, and his body can be found still holding the phone he used to talk to Caz.
Turns out women other than Finlay worked on the rig! One was a lawyer named Nicole. An empty cassette tape for a disciplinary meeting with Addair can be found in what was her office. You can also find a mug that may have belonged to her in a cabinet.
Roper can be found in Marine Control. The room is also upside down. His name was also John.
I personally was really hoping Mhairi would be Addairs daughter. Like a Mhairi growing up and knowing that, even though her dad was a pretty mean person, her dad still loved her. Brodie being her dad is great, and I do love it, though.
RIP to whoever it was that died with Finlays lighter.
I honestly have no clue as to what the monster is comprised of. It looks like it has human skulls or something embedded into it, but I'm half blind and it's hard to make shapes out when it's dark. I'd sure love to know who or what it was.
"To My Ewan" Diary: Exists
Muirinnes Shippers:
The scene of Mhairi turning and seeing all the crew workers standing behind her literally gave me chills, like they're all standing in solidarity together despite everything that led to their deaths. Another way to see it is that they were all ready to welcome Mhairi as the newest victim of Beira D. Phenomenal either way.
In all, one thing I really wanted to see was more mentions/mementos of the characters we knew of already. I didn't see one mention of my beloved Trots. There was barely a hint of Roy and I would've loved for Mhairi or Rob to mention Suze. Or at least say some of their names out loud. All that said, it feels like a worthy addition to the original game!

One thing I would've changed about the 7th TF2 comic would've been to keep the mercs as mercs instead of them (or some of them) fully giving it up.
Like, instead of working for whatever the hell Mann Co ended up doing, they became a group of mercenary freelancers together like how the Team Fortress Classic mercs did.
For example, Spy and Engineer (or maybe even Miss Pauling) being in charge of accepting jobs and assigning themselves and the others to what specific job the assignment needs.
Rich guy needs a bodyguard for a week? Get Heavy and keep Sniper on standby just in case.
Need someone assassinated and another guy framed? Engie just finished upgrading Spys disguise kit!
Need a building burnt to the ground with no survivors? The mercs are already drawing straws for who gets to supervise Pyro this time.
All the while, they're also raising their kids/baboon as mercs, too! (All right, kids, who's ready to learn how to do medicine with Uncle Ludwig!) Soldiers' daughter already knows how to snap necks, Scouts blonde son looks like he bites, and I'm honestly surprised no one's drawn Scouts daughter Tanya as a Spy yet.
I really do love the ending of Comic 7, but I'm just saying, a work-balance exists.
(I also would've had Heavy and Medic wear wedding rings, but that's just me)

Hello??? Oh my god, who the hell made the decision to cut some of these lines???? I have so many thoughts and theories.
Brodie shushing Raffs and talking to him so sweetly, like a little boy.
The voicelines of Caz literally trying and failing to get O'Connor unstuck from the tentacles and then saying he'll come back is just *chefs kiss*
O'Connor crying is haunting
RENNICK ACTUALLY TRYING TO HELP THE CREW???? The line of him calling the evacuation sounds so worried, and then him telling someone named Dobber (maybe Archies og name and personality) that if they won't get the crew to the chopper, he will??? My God?? Rennick went to get the crew to the chopper, and Dobber and someone else who was infected left! We could've had a possible partial Rennick Redemption!
It also sounds like Rennick would've been even less of a threat as a monster, possibly even one of the immobile ones, though Caz has a line mentioning him and Muir at the same time.
Innes could've survived Muir?? Possibly??
Roy would've actually tried to get to his cabin! He beat the useless allegations! One of my main problems with SWTD was Roy saying he would get his insulin, but never doing it! They should've kept those lines in! That Animal Farm line is ducking hilarious.
Originally, Trots would have taken Roy's insulin! Now the "You Cannae have it!" Line makes sense! And then he would've given it to Caz!!
He says:"Roy's sick, Caz!"
And then he gives it to him!
I can't hear very well with the monster noises, but I think at the start of his and Caz's conversation, he says he's ok? And Cold? He definitely says he's sorry at one point, though! Also that he's disgusting, my poor little communist slug.
Roy's death would have been so different. Caz would've walked in talking about Trots and thought Roy fell asleep. He also would've administered the insulin to try and revive him. I honestly don't know which one is worse.
Roper sounds alot more lucid in his lines. Telling Caz to get out (maybe calling him son) and smoking a cigarette with Caz. And then thanking Caz after. Roper only becomes aggressive when Caz talk/yells at Finlay over the phone.
He says one thing before Caz leaves: "Caz, just kill me."
(Also, Addair would've lived longer, but who gives a damn about him?)
youtube
Figured it is about time I show a recording of these unused soundfiles. These are from various scenes- And it's about an hour long
Have fun!
