Meeting You Again (a sort of what-if for Nova and Frost after today's ep :) enjoy )

After months and weeks of work, Moon and Monty were finally ready. It taken forever to replicate the formula Moon first used to seperate himself and Sun, but this time he had to tweak it to prevent another Eclipse situation. Nova and Frost being homicidal on their own was enough, but an Eclipse with their conviction? It was the last thing any of them needed.

They had spoken to Nova Frost about it a lot leading up to the day they'd be separated into their own bodies. Sun spoke the most about the after effects, how not having someone in your head all the time was...unnerving at times, how things felt too quiet having only your own thoughts to keep you company.

Of course neither Nova nor Frost liked the sound of that, but Moon managed to appeal the idea to them.

He had told them they could hold each other, finally see one another properly. He ensured that they would only have their own bodies, everything else would be just as it was before. He even gave them a special upgrade (one he was admittedly considering giving himself and Sun for long hours apart) that would allow Nova and Frost to mentally communicate, so it would be as if they never separated.

But they'd still notice.

It wasn't until recently did Novafrost come to Moon, finally deciding to do it. Nova wanted one thing more than to protect children.

He wanted to be with Frostie more than anything.

So Moon, Monty and Solar prepared the maintenance room. Solar had set up on building a body- after all they couldn't just by another NovaFrost model, they didn't make the one they had anymore.

But finally, after remaking the formula, tweaking it to prevent any unwanted side effects, the body built and adding the upgrade, they were ready.

*Are you sure you want to do this, Novie? You trust them to keep us safe?*

"I do, Frostie. Besides, I think Moonie's right, it would be nice to feel you hold me."

*OK then. I guess I'll see you when we wake up then...* Frost said, trying to hide his nervousness. He still didn't quite fully trust the whole thing, but if Nova did, he'd trust Nova instead. His Novie never steered him wrong before, after all.

Nova shut down for the process, and Frost vanished back into the headspace.

"Ok, everything is ready, body is ready for transfer, prevention protocols are in place...ok. Let's get this started." Moon pressed a button on the computer, and the machine began to work, carefully sorting out the AI's until a new chip was produced.

Solar took and placed it into the Frost body, carefully welding it into a small pod to protect it from damage. Then he put Frost's head back together and did the same for Nova, since the old chip was built for two, a new one was made and the process repeated for Nova.

Once they were all set, Moon ran some diagnostic tests to make sure everything was OK before he turned them on.

Nova woke first with a stretch.

"Mmm morning! Is it over already, I swear I just fell asleep."

"Yeah, shutting down feels like that. Now, how do you feel? And try to remember, Nova isn't part of your body anymore, so you can't see or hear him the way you did before. But he's fine. He's booting up, just give him a minute. Since he has a brand new system his body will take like an extra minute or so to get up and running. We're watching, the computer is monitoring too, to make sure his reboot goes smoothly. In the meantime, how do you feel? Can you stand up and walk a little for me?"

Nova stared at Moon, trying to process everything he said. But he did feel Frost's absence heavily. Like part of him was missing. And his thoughts, his head, felt way too loud for how quiet it was now.

Nova whined a little and shook his head. "I don't like how quiet it is now..."

"Yeah, I know. It's always jarring at first, and it takes some getting used to. But, if you want I have a few ways to help with that, for both of you." Sun offered, hands out to Nova in case he was a little off balance.

Nova took and held onto his hands as he got up and walked a bit. His motor functions were fine, which was expected really but it never hurts to be sure with this family.

"I think...I think I might take that offer, it feels really weird..." Nova looked around until he saw Frost's body. He stepped closer until he was right beside the table he was laid out on. Frost wasn't moving entirely, but his eyes were lit up, flickering around as his arms, legs and fingers twitched a bit.

"Just some mobility and optic testing for the body, to make sure it works. He should be waking up properly now, though. I think he'll like seeing your face first, Nova."

Nova looked at Moon, then back to Frost, watching as his head began to move and he blinked. Moon instinctively dimmed the lights for him.

"Frostie? Can...can you hear me?" Nova asked, almost a bit nervous.

Frost looked around, then at his hands, then to Nova. He blinked and tilted his head before reaching to touch his face, gasping softly qhen he touched solid metal instead of air. Then he touched his own face, further surprised when he again touched metal. His hand remained as Nova brought one to Frost's other cheek, a smile on his face.

"Hi Frostie! I told you they'd be good and help us. I'm ok, and you're ok. And you're really here now too. How...how do you feel?"

Frost blinked and leaned into Nova's hand. It felt so warm and real against his own colder metal, but it was real.

"I feel...weird. Empty but...not? It's too loud and too quiet though..."

"They said that's normal. They can help with that later..." Nova smiled wide and suddenly hugged Frost tight.

Frost gasped a bit at the sudden movement and feeling Nova's arms around him. He slowly brought his arms around Nova to hug him close.

By now Sun was gently ushering Moon and Monty out of the room to give the two some privacy.

"You're so warm...have you always been this warm?" Frost nuzzled into Nova a bit, closing his eyes to take in the feelings.

"I think so? Have you always been so cool, Frostie?" Nova giggled a bit. "Well you're always cool to me, but- you know what I mean."

"I do. And I have. This is...nice. very nice. It's like I'm meeting you for the first time again. I suppose being like this isn't too bad."

"Yeah. Moonie was right, I like holding you. And you holding me. And cuddling and everything." Nova giggled again, like a schoolgirl with a crush.

Frost chuckled a bit. "I like it too...have I ever told you how cute you are when you're excited?"

Nova smiled and turned a bit yellow as he blushed, even glowing slightly. "You haaave...but tell me again? Pretty please? I like when you call me cute." Nova happily swung his legs a little off the edge of the table.

Frost nuzzled into him again. "You're cuuute. Cutie. My cute little Novie."

Nova squealed and giggled and glowed brighter with each compliment. Frost smiled.

"My precious bright star, Novie..." Frost pecked his cheek.

Nova lit up like a Christmas tree, getting all giddy and smiling wider than ever. "F-Frostie!"

Frost grinned. "I've wanted to do that for so long, Novie. And now I can give you all the pecks and kisses and smooches you could want."

Nova fanned himself a bit, all flustered. "F-Frostie, oh my goodness, I'll overheat...! But...maybe one more? M-maybe...here?" Nova shyly tapped his lips, looking at Frost with the biggest, wettest puppy dog eyes he's ever given him.

Frost chuckled again. "You don't have to beg me for anything, Novie. As if I'd ever deny you a thing." He smiled and pecked his lips. Nova lit right up again, smiling before pecking him back, giggling with excitement. Frost pecked back, and the two ended up in a sort of "competetion" of who'd get the last kiss.

It ended with Nova getting too excited and giddy and giggly to continue, conceding to Frost and snuggling up to him. Frost happily held him.

"I'm glad you convinced me to let them do this. I think it's the best decision we've ever made."

"Me too. I like this a lot more, being able to be with you for real. I mean, physically, like this...I like you so much Frostie."

Frost smiled and kissed his head. "I like you lots too, Novie."

Starting Over With You (amnesiac!Rusty x Ruin/Equinox)

By some miracle, some higher being had taken pity on the amalgamation- or maybe it was sheer, dumb, blind panic that had him working faster than ever- but as soon as Charlie had left Parts and Service he was back on the cure, trying so desperately to finish it before she reached the lab. Unfortunately he didn't know how long that would take her but he couldn't think about it right now.

All that mattered was finishing the cure, fixing Rusty and-

The screen flashed with a completion notification.

Ruin stared at it, the little green letters and numbers reading "100%" and he let out a short, unbelieving laugh. He'd done it. He'd actually done it! His fingers flew across the keyboard as if he were playing a guitar or piano, and before he knew it the cure was already being uploaded into Rusty.

Ruin stepped back once the process started, as if him being too close would somehow screw it all up, and he waited. With the cure already going in Rusty Ruin finally turned to where Eclipse had been seated.

He was still catatonic, locked in place with only the faint flickering of his eyes, to indicate blinking and the slight rise and fall of his chest and shoulders, being the only indications he wasn't fully shut down yet.

Suddenly he felt something inside him, deep in his core and rooted throughout his coding. The virus inside him was stirring, trying to take control of him as it had before without much more success as it would have this time, but this time it felt a bit different. It felt like a more frantic thrashing than manipulative coercion. He could hear Eclipse groaning more too, saw him twitch slightly. The virus was trying to do...something? Override Eclipse's motor locks perhaps?

Then he felt it, like something raking through his code, and he felt the virus leaving him. In a panic he turned back to Rusty and the computer, it's progress bar already almost full. He felt the raking, the pulling getting stronger, Charlie must have begun the plan, no not now not yet not when he was so close to having Rusty back, please please please hurry up-

There was a brief flash throughout the room, and Ruin fell back, hitting his head on the way down and falling unconscious.

When he woke Eclipse was above him, the dog at his face licking him...

Ruin pushed Clippy back a bit and sat up, rubbing his head a little. "Ugh...what happened..."

"I think Charlie fixed everything."

Ruin blinked, processing the words before he shot up, nearly smack into Eclipse's face plate as he frantically scrambled to get up.

"What do you- no she can't have, I was-" Ruin paused at the terminal, looking in at Rusty. He was still, but still there.

With trembling fingers Ruin began to type away at the keyboard, running diagnostics and programs to wake him back up. The cure had been fast, but was it fast enough to work before Charlie fixed everything?

He ran every virus detection software, including the one for his virus.

He stared at the screen, the green lettering reflecting slightly off of him.

'No viruses detected'

'Cure upload: 100% complete'

Slight movement tore Ruin's attention away from the screen watching as the computer began the reboot process and Rusty began to wake, fingers twitching with the motor function test, head, eyes and voice box reacting for the same reason.

Once the testing finished Rusty properly woke and sat up, looking around and at his hands and tail and every part he could see, as if he was seeing himself again for the first time.

For Rusty, it might as well have been the first time again.

"Where...am I...?"

And then Rusty looked at him.

He'd done it.

He'd cured Rusty.

He finally had him back.

"Who are you?"

Ruin felt his system stutter and his gears jam. What kind of question was that? Surely he was joking? Then again he did just wake up from what was essentially a living nightmare so of course he'd be a little confused, and Ruin looked a little newer than the last time they'd really seen each other.

"It's me, Ruin. Eclipse. You're in Parts and Service. Not in our home though, that place is dead and gone. You...you're all better, Rusty. You're finally...I finally cured you."

Rusty tilted his head and looked confused. "Not home? What do you mean destroyed? And cured me of what?"

'Ok this is getting a bit old' Ruin thought. Rusty should know what he was on about qith the virus. For all his testing, he knew it couldn't erase memories, especially not forty or so years of them.

"Alright Rusty that's enough. Please drop the joke, it isn't particularly funny anyway."

"Dude, I'm not joking. I seriously have no idea what you mean or where I am or who you are."

Ruin frowned a bit. On one hand it wasn't like Rusty to joke about knowing him or remembering, the gator was a genius. Not nearly on his level but pretty smart.

"Hold on, let me check your system again, perhaps it didn't check everything during shut down..."

Ruin typed away on the keyboard again, running another diagnostics. After a few minutes everything came up.

"Motor functions optimal. Voice box test optimal. AI function optimal. Casing needs repairs. Memory bank-"

Ruin froze, staring at the last string of words highlighted in red.

'Memory bank corruption, hard reboot initiated. Corrupted files deleted'

Ruin's hands were trembling as he fell to his knees before the terminal, staring at the ground as his processors tried to catch up with the information.

There was no way. This was some cruel, twisted joke on him from the universe. Maybe retribution for the trillions of lives he indirectly took in his crusade to kill the Creators, even if it ultimately did as much good as it did harm.

No matter what he just couldn't have a happy ending could he?

He became vaguely aware of black oil stains appearing on the floor, feeling them drip down his face. He was crying.

First he mourned Rusty losing himself. Then he mourned the life they could have had. Now he was mourning Rusty all over again.

"Hey, uh...Ruin, was it? Everything uh, everything ok out there? You good, man?"

Ruin blinked and wiped away the tears, taking a minute to compose himself and stood, taking a deep breath to steel his nerves and turned to him.

"Everything's fine, Rusty. Don't worry about it. Everything's in working order," Ruin pressed a button to open the chamber. "Go ahead and explore if you wish. Just remember this isn't your original home. I...have a lot to explain regarding that but I don't want to overwhelm you too much just yet. For now just know there is another Montgomery here. Go ahead and have a look around, meet some new friends."

"Ok...sure you're good, Ruin?"

"I'm sure. Go on, I'll be fine."

With a final look and slight hesitation Rusty left Parts and Service. As soon as the doors shut Ruin sat against the terminal, sighing heavily and closing his eyes.

Maybe, just maybe, this was a blessing in disguise. He had a chance to start fresh, no virus to worry about, no creator or world ending problems. Well, there was still the issue of Afton, Mimic and EK but they would be dealt with.

Eclipse would make sure of it.

For now, Ruin would worry about Rusty. After a few more minutes he got up to find Rusty and check on him.

Starting over sounded nice after all.

Trapped In A Cage

He could feel it running rampant through his systems. Sitting in the chair he gripped at the arms, his claws digging into them as he forcefully held himself back. Electricity buzzed through his head like a current, like all he could hear was his own heartbeat, faster and harder. He was vaguely aware of Charlie and Ruin arguing just ahead of him, and barely registered Lefty's arrival too.

Suddenly he gasped as Charlie forced the virus out of him, but it didn't do any good, he could feel it already growing again. He didn't move an inch, trying to suppress his systems and movements so he wouldn't lash out at Charlie or hurt her. He turned his eyes to her instead.

"Charlie...my lab. Get to...get to my lab. Monty...the satellite...should be d-done...go. Now. No more...t-time."

Eclipse said nothing more, keeping himself as locked as possible, even forcefully overriding everything to shut his motor functions down. If he couldn't move, he couldn't hurt someone.

He could still hear the buzzing, felt the virus rampaging his circuits and systems. And then, he began to think.

He thought about Lunar, the last time they spoke, every insult he said to him or every time he put his hands on him. He thought about when he killed him with no hesitation. At the time he felt Lunar deserved it, he betrayed him after all, went to Sun and Moon and sold him out.

He thought of Moon, the one person he trusted, that left him behind like he was nothing, a piece of him he was ashamed of. He thought about how he tormented him for years, using Sun like a puppet, or altering their friends memories to hate him.

He couldn't help but laugh dryly.

'I suppose this is my retribution for everything I've done to people. What a joke...'

He thought about Earth, how happy she was to see him last time, and was silently grateful she hadn't tried to visit recently with the virus happening.

He didn't think he could forgive himself if his first real friend ended up like the rest of them too.

He silently apologized to her, that he wouldn't be able to make it to her wedding or even text her a "congratulations".

He glanced up, feeling something move in front of him, seeing a faint flash of white and black before him.

He laughed again. "Great, now im...h-hallucinating..."

"Maybe you are Clippy. But at least it's a nice one. Maybe. Nice to know you still miss me though, hallucinating me when you're close to losing your mind."

Eclipse chuckled. "Shut up, P-Puppet. This is...my own fault at th-the end of the day. I should have killed Mim-Mimic and EK-K when we caught them. Should have...killed A-Afton when the boys were out..."

"You didn't know something this bad would happen, Clippy. Didn't know anyone from Ruin's dimension was still alive too. This isn't your fault, bud. I'm sure it'll be ok in the end. Charlie's a strong kid. I'm sure you'll be able to fix this. Well maybe not you specifically in your state right now but you know what I mean."

"If she c-can't, Henry's tak-king the kids. Charlie, Jake, Andrew, An-Andy and FC. They'll leave this di-dimension, go...go somewhere new and s-safer...at least th-they'll be safe though..."

Puppet smiled slightly. "You changed so much. When we first met you hated everything, everyone, wanted revenge and murder. And now here you are making contingency plans for your kids to live even without you...I'm proud of you, Clippy."

"S-shut up, Pupp-ppet..." Eclipse closed his eyes and sighed heavily. "Thanks, f-for being here tho-though..."

The hallucination sat by the chair and leaned against it a bit, placing a hand on his arm as if to comfort him.

"Of course buddy...that's what friends are for after all..."

Starting Over

Sun looked around the now empty house, silent as he thought about everything he's experienced since waking up in this dimension.

He would miss some things about the place, the daycare, the kids. This dimension was the only home he really knew, and moving to another would...well it wouldn't be too hard.

If anything he would be more focused helping Dazzle and the cats adjust.

He shut off the final light and shut the door for the last time, and approached the portal. Everyone else had gone through already, Moon patiently waiting for him.

Sun cast one last glance back at the house and paused.

He saw four little ghosts waving from the windows, one gazing at him with a fond, almost sad or regretful look, one scowling from the door, two identical ones waving almost mockingly at him from the garage, and one just in front of the porch, larger than the rest and billowy even though there wasn't any wind and simply standing there staring at him.

The July 16th kids, Old Moon, Eclipse, the Blood Twins, and Nexus. All his ghosts came to see him off, even though Old Moon was standing just behind him at the portal.

Even moving to a whole new dimension wouldn't wash away all the blood on his hands.

But he wasn't doing this to run away from his guilt and sins. He was doing this for his own wellbeing, for his family and his daughter.

Suddenly, one of them, Nexus, began to speak.

"You know this won't change anything. We'll come back. We always do. We always will. It doesn't matter where you go, we'll always find you."

Sun sighed softly. "I figured. But that's fine. I've come to terms with everything I've done. Even if it wasn't exactly me that did it." He cast a glance at the Blood Twin ghosts now chasing the four child ghosts around, before they were caught by Old Moon.

"But that's fine. I'm not running away from this, that's never helped me or did me any good. I'm just leaving for a safer place with my family."

The vision of Nexus snorted and laughed, a distorted sound that reminded him of Eclipse and Killcode in his more vicious days.

"Safer, huh? Danger follows this family like a curse, you'll only be bringing trouble with you anywhere you end up. Especially you. People die all around you, Sun. Lunar, Moon, Bloodmoon, Eclipse, the kids, myself. You're cursed, Sun. And it hangs over you like a shadow you can't ever erase."

"Maybe you're right. Maybe I am cursed or this family is cursed. But at least they understand and they're willing to help handle it. They always have, and they always will."

"Hmph. We'll see. I'm sure they can only handle so much more of this, Sun."

Sun watched as the other visions began to disappear, leaving only Nexus behind.

"I'll handle it if it ever happens then...goodbye, Nexus. I wish I could see you one more time without all the hatred or animosity."

"Yeah, fat chance of that ever happening, right?"

Sun smiled slightly. "Yeah, who am I kidding right?"

"Sun?"

He looked back to find Moon closer, reaching and placing a hand on his arm gently.

"You good, Sun? I can hear you talking to yourself for so long, buddy."

Sun looked back to the house, finding the vision of Nexus gone, and silent emptiness left behind.

Sun shook his head and turned to him again.

"Seeing things again, Sun?"

"Yeah, but...it's fine. Just saying goodbye one last time before we go."

Moon gave his arm a gentle squeeze and let go. "Ok. You ready then?"

"Yeah, I'm ready." He took a deep breath and followed Moon into the portal, finally ready to start their lives over.

This Life I Made (fic for my Astral Family AU)

A soft flutter of wings just behind him caught his attention. Solar glanced over his shoulder, dropping his right wing slightly, just enough to see who had come along to him.

It was merely Sun, glowing and radiant and emanating warmth. Solar shielded himself slightly with his wing, the Astral's brightness mildly agitating his eyes.

"Hey Sun. Do you need something?" Solar turned back to whatever had his attention before, gloved hands moving deftly as he worked on molding a ball of energy.

"Nothing really, just a bit bored. Watching the mortals all day gets old after a while, only so many times I can watch Earth and Monty too as cute as they are. But she doesn't like when I spy on her too often." Sun leaned over his shoulder, Solar muttering as he pulled his goggles down to protect his eyes from the closer shine. "What're you making?"

"I'm not sure really. I got bored and just started working." He showed Sun the little form he was sculpting. It somewhat resembled Moon, with a little shaped head, formed after an earth fruit, a pumpkin, Earth had said they were called.

"Whatever it is it's a little cutie. Are you going to let him live? If you don't keep him here maybe Earth would like a new friend. I think the little thing would like earth...assuming he doesn't have Moon's snark and sassy attitude."

Solar smiled slightly as he formed a little hat from light and placed it on the form, then added some eyes and clothing shapes. "There. Maybe? I'm not sure where he'll stay. But...I want him to find himself out I think."

"He's the first thing I think you've actually made isn't he? What are you gonna name him?"

Solar stared down at the form, vibrating with energy as he placed a small orb of power into its chest, smiling slightly as he pushed his goggles up, gently cradling the small thing like it could break any second with even a slight twitch.

"I like Jack."

"Seems to fit pretty well. Let's take him down somewhere and get him up and about, yeah? Let him know his creator." Sun's wings fluttered and spread before he was taking off to the planet.

Solar's shifted before he was following, the small form cradled to his chest. In almost no time to them they were landing in a clearing, surrounded by flowers for miles all around, the sky already darkening and stars beginning to shine through.

Solar gently placed the form among some tulips, and with a slow circling of his finger, light orange magic flowed from his being into the form. After a few moments, it began to move, the energy and light covering its body falling away and revealing a more detailed outfit, gold star detailing on a long cloak, a star at the end of the hat, patchwork pants and patched overalls.

The form slowly opened its eyes, black and piercing orange with a faint glow in them. He sat up slow and looked around, then down to his hands, flexing his fingers as he seemed to realize he had them. Then he tried to stand, stumbling and wobbly like a newborn deer.

Solar and Sun watched, Sun smiling wide and grabbing onto Solar with a little shake. "Oh my stars, Solar! You did it! You created life! And for your first one it came out so good!"

Solar watched as Jack stumbled and fell, and he instinctively reached out to help him back up. "Easy now, your legs are brand new, but we can help you learn. My name is Solar, and this is my brother Sun. You should be able to talk and understand me. Your name is Jack, do you understand?"

Jack gazed up at the two far taller beings who, even though they were shrunken down to a more human height, still towered over Jack. But he simply smiled and nodded, holding onto Solar's arms for some stability.

"I do. Are you my creator? Or father?"

Sun quietly cooed beside him, and Solar nodded a bit. "I am. And I guess calling me your father isn't that wrong. We'll stay for a while, help you discover some things and introduce you to our sister. Later on you can meet more of your family but they're busy right now."

Jack nodded again and started pulling on Solar, trying to climb up his frame but obviously didn't know how. Sun smiled a bit and picked Jack up, handing him to Solar who immediately put his arms around and under him so he wouldn't fall.

"I'll help you learn everything, Jack. Don't worry. I'm glad I ended up creating you."

"Really?" Jack lay his head against Solar's shoulder, staring up at his creator and occasionally at Sun.

"I am. You're my first creation and you turned out so wonderful already. I can only hope you continue to be wonderful in your life. And before I forget. You have a very strong power inside you, but you likely can't access it yet since you're brand new," Solar said as Jack curiously played with his wings where he could reach.

"What are these?"

"Those are my wings. We all have them, except you. But don't worry, yours will grow in once you start using and improving your powers. My friends and I can help with that as well."

I drew some Lunars! We've got my Astral Family!AU Lunar, Cosmos, my Twisted Brotherhood!AU Lunar, and the TSBS canon Astral Lunar. Cosmos is supposed to be digitigrade, like an animal, but I have trouble with it so if anyone has any tips or good refs I'd greatly appreciate them. Anyways enjoy this lil sketch, might color it later
