Back before John's first solo album came out, I wished he'd record with Dave LaRue because I was such a big fan of his from the Steve Morse band. So seeing them live like this...what a sick, sick trio. And if you look closely, you'll spot JP's spiffy @phillipplein_eu kicks as he makes his wah do his bidding. He also seems ok with me snapping pics. 😂 @meanstreak_official opened up and showed everyone how to be metal! I'm still reeling from @drumadkt! 🤯 What a great night! Popped into @andersonguitarworks yesterday on my last day in LA to see @fastjgirl and the crew. @rob_chappers and I at the @cheesecakefactory bar pre-dinner. He took this pic. I didn't take a lot of pics at @thenammshow this year. It was a much smaller show with much less spectacle. But that's not why I didn't take more pics. I found myself engaging with more of my friends and the smaller vendors that normally get passed up because the larger vendors tend to overshadow them. This meant seeing things you usually miss, gear you usually miss, and interractions you usually miss. Speaking to Matt at @muleresonatorguitars, it seems the vendors felt the same way. Instead of trying to bark through crowds for miniscule connections, they actually got to spend time with people and make real connections! And as attendees, we could actually hear the gear we were trying. As much as part of me missed the spectacle, I really enjoyed the pace. I think this is the direction the NAMM show is going. And for smaller vendors...don't skip next year. You missed out this year. April 2023. I found this @eddievanhalen #frankie inspired graphic and asked @happykemperskins (who also makes skins for the @neuraldsp #quadcortex) to make a skin for me. The company providing the material had major supply chain issues so there were delays getting it to him. To thank me for my patience, he offered to make me a second. So I found a very @stevevaihimself inspired swirl and sent it to him for the second design. The EVH skin is applied while the swirl is just lying on top for exhibition. The quality and fit are stellar! The shiny trim around the face of the QC is still exposed perfectly. If you are looking for a custom skin for yours, hit him up! I also have the screen and faceplate protector from @gearbyceba installed. @twonotesaudio wants to see my favorite pick now... My go-to pick is my @jimdunlopusa Ultex Jazz III 2mm. I use different picks at different times for different reasons, but I use this the most. There's a plethora of my favorite picks if you swipe to pic 2. The 3 black diamond sphere tipped picks are the original @styluspick I got back in the early/mid 90s. It's designed to teach pick depth and it changed my life! That and the @paulgilbert_official instructional videos. If you order them now, you get those neat, transparent red picks. The @hawkpicks feel and sound great. The did everything the Redbear picks did, but I could order them anytime for 1/3 the cost. I choke up on the pick too much to take advantage of the grips, which is why I default to the Dunlops, but they sound phenomenal. Great for recording. If you use more of the pick tip, try some!
