Satisfied my intense need to try and draw the Dunkleosteus myself. These are just a first pass, no fun patterns just shapes, it's what I think makes the most sense after about 5 hours of unbroken hyper-fixation research. I noticed that the fossils and art all have the mouth VERY open (but not fully open) and I can't seem to find a reason why... besides us humans just going 'yea these teeth are certified sick AF and I must perceive them at all times in all examples of this creature.' Part of the dunks coolness is that their big bone-teeth are self-sharpening when they close their mouth and grind against each other, so I know the teeth have to touch SOMETIMES. If anyone has the answer to why they always look like that please inform me!! For the head/mouth area I took a weird position in the 'does Dunk have NO LIPS or LIPS' debate by giving them sort-of-lips. The bottom teeth come through the flesh of the jaw without a 'lip' kinda like how the bottom jaw of modern sharks looks to me. The top of the head is meaty and does have a 'lip'. I'm keen on drawing my possibly VERY wrong interpretation of this prehistoric monster in its natural environment doing what it would've done day-to-day! Link to the Epic 3D model I used to get a better idea of what the dunk looks like.
Edit: I just realised that the mouth could just be open like that and no one has felt the need to comment on it, but I WANT TO KNOW FOR SURE
