The BIG 6
I conducted some research on the different sub-specialities of graphic design, with the aim to specify which area of the field I was most interested in pursuing. This research enlightened me to the current contenders in the publishing industry in the UK today. It became clear that a large percentage of the print media that is published in this country is done so by “The Big Six” - the six largest publishing houses, comprised of: three 3  paper
  Simon & Schuster
Hachette
Penguin
Macmillan
Random House
HarperCollin
In the future maybe i should try to go in to these companies but I should also research the advertisement buisness and then I'll make a deaccession.

For the summer I have a couple of projects.
I have to make a logo as well as a card for a hair salon called Venera, creating some new painting or sculptures as well as making a logo for a website called "We chill" that gathers different artists and gives them a place to sell their work in which I'm hoping to perticapate with T-shirt designs, stickers and posters with the hope that people would like my work and buy it.

I was inspired by the original site so i decider to make a similar one for which I did the theme of the party “Say goodbye to the yellow brick road, where Dorothy is making the choice to leave the path. For the text and as well as the images and tables I chose to make  a centre composition with a white background and dark green outline.making it stand out even when the background image is resized.

For thee calendar i made an image which is a mythological creature representing the forgotten times. The illustration is simple with natural, basic colours. The dates are in the middle and rendered for and easy reading. For the main title I chose to do a nice curvy font  and for July a bold red one which is much heavier, with an outline to come out more and attract attention.

For the poster I played with the title, manly with the word secret, for its playfulness and mystery, hoping to tickle the viewers curiosity, leaving him something to figure out by him self and see what it is by visiting the web site, which can also be noticed for its bright colours .

For Simons project we had to do a Penguin book cover for one of two books : “The outsiders” and “What a  carve up”. I started to do different designs for both of them so I can decide on which one I want to do. In the end i narrowed them down to two for “What a  carve up” and one for “The outsiders” but after finishing them all none looked like a winning design.
After a while I still didn’t know whats wrong with them or how can i fix the problem, but one day in London helped me to make my mind up. i was in front of parliament when i realised that the best symbol for english politics is Big Ben itself.
I started to work on a new design and it looked like this is going to be the one but something was still missing. Later i realised that i have to give the book cover the age it needed so that it can portray the story of the novel better and more accurate as well as to make the cover more interesting and daring.
From my work on "The outsiders” I took the overly used symbol of the knife and use it to show the other side of politics and their harmful way to show the double faced game, there is always something more to whats on the outside all you have to do is dig deep but not too much
as well as the story of murder and deceive in the book too.Ive tried to give a troublesome feeling but with a dash of comedy and irony.
I didn’t like the book cover and the illustration on a bold colour so i found a imaged that resembled a scratched wood so i can give a stronger effect to the cover.
I ended up doing this design which I like and am proud off.

Other project was making a billboard for the well know brand Lambretta.
I illustrated the bike as to make a clear but strong and manly image for the targeted audience which in my case are moistly men who are interested in motorbikes or classic English vehicle. I use the already very well known Lambretta logo and a gray slick fonts for the model number and a bold black one on a white line for the pluses that the perches can bring for them to stand out and be easily seen from the moving car.

For the movie poster in 150 DVA I chose to do the film “With Nail and I”.
I was inspired by the original cover and the poster card that was stuck on top of the title as well as the name. I made the design simple and with a clear message as to attract the fans of the already famous movie. I used the idea of the card but as to only a signs one and the shape of the “I” to create a nail shape that kept the card in place.
I went with the simplest design for this project because it makes the interest of the unfamiliar viewer grow with the unanswered questions and gives a clear, humorous message to those who are fans of the movie.

My first year in Coventry university has passed and truth out the year i have learn a lot about graphic design and its world. We had several different modules with different projects which for me taught us different but yet connected tricks that will help us reach a better, more professional look to my design.
In our first project, which was 150 Visual Communication we had to respond to a range of different design problem like 3 logos, billboard and a poster design.
From the logos I learned to think about my client as it was meant to be a logo for Argos and their new branch in China so i tough of colours form and symbols that can go well with the new environment. I chose the red colour as to attract attention and make it pop next to other stores. The shape i chose circular shapes hopping i can input the style of their old architecture and create a simple but heavily designed “A”
For the other one i chose to do  simple and slick design with a fresh and cool blue colour. I tried to put in the smile but in a more secret and hidden way.
For the third one i chose to incorporate a box as to Argos special way of shopping for a catalogue. The words are white which  heavy black outline to make them stand out even more and match the grayish box  from which you can see the “O” popping out as a surprise that you have been waiting for.

FUTURE =
The word causes me to imagine a city in which all teachnology is advanced and every resident is young and dressed in white suits. Their expressions are serious, their hair styles sleek and plain. Not much conversation take s place hetre because people are too knowledgable to see the point of everyday conversation and the cars can not be heard moving past because of the brilliant technology I am looking at the city from a high glass window that reaches the floor to the ceiling. It is the evening, the sun is setting behind the buildings that reach into the sky. They are symmetrical and were specifically designed for effciency - they knocked the entire land down a few thousand years ago and re placed everything. The zero percent crime rates, solar energy and telkinesis that exists within the city are its most powerful and abundent achievements but it makes me scared.

PRIORITY
I am reminded of a popular mobilephone comapny advery which mentiones this word. The cool blue background and the smooth narattors voice which intices us to use their service.
And then the obvious associations are my family, my education and food/health.
My priorities keep me moving each day and make me scared - of getting old and being unable to work

STUDIO =
I think of a photographers studio when this word is mentioned. It is not a messy studio, as an artsts might be and it is modern, fresh and has lots of light flooding into it. It is stocked with clean beach wood draws and silver appliances, such as paper cutters and a tripod and the floor is blue, shiny lino. We look at thi studio from the photographer behind the camera, who is a mystery to us and there is no model in front of them - they are simply taking a practice picture of the backdrop (white) and it is taken in slow motion.

DEADLINE
I associate the word 'deadline' with a black and red screen. The screen is a heart monitor and the zig-zag line going through the black background is blood red and shaped like mountains of different heights. The word also reminds me of last moments, because - quite obviously - 'death' is mentioned in the beginning of it and, not so obviously, the stress of school when deadlines occur will contribute to many deaths in my life - such as the decline of my health, my personal life or my ability to express compassion towatrds those I love. Deadlines can make you greedy and ignorant or more determined to find a balance between success and happiness.

TEAMWORK
TEAMWORK  is about having the ability to seperate tasks and complete them in a set line.
Each task must be distributed by a modest leader, as they must be given to the 'best man' for the job and not the leaders personal favourite.
Teams usually consist os a joker, leader and scout.
Any teams I am familiar with are the fsahion designers that I previously mentioned or the rowing teams from the last olympics.
