Technology Meets History
A rather interesting project has begun in regards to digitizing old texts and manuscripts dating from various points in history. There are approximately 1.5 million of these artifacts that are to be converted over. This is rather exciting as for perhaps the first time in history, these critical works will be available for anyone to view, at least without having to travel around the world to see them.

Let's Talk Tech Politics
A topic maybe most people don't care, but I wanted to get my thoughts out there. If you agree or disagree let me know or what you opinion on the matter is.
So about a week or so ago ATT announces it's going to acquire T-Mobile as part of it's network, essentially expanding it's service and in hopes of improving call quality...right...huh? Good luck there, but hey here's for the best because like many of millions of other consumers out there. I use ATT as well, yes I adore and love my handy dandy iphone.
Anyways, skipping ahead a bit to get to the point, at the moment Verizon has the largest market share of the telecommunications industry in the US when it comes to offering wireless service. However with the recent announcement, it would tip the balance in ATT's favor.
Now this certainly creates a dichotomy in the politics of business, why you may ask. Well let me inform you. With these two titans battling over for the superiority of the air waves and to collect your hard earned dollar, we have a small little third player in there, they are called Sprint.
If the buy out is to happen, this would essentially corner the market in favor of these two giants, essentially leaving out Sprint. Now the likely solution would be for ATT to buy them out as well right? Essentially because they are GSM based as Verizon uses CDMA bandwidths for their network.
Yet this posses a small problem in our legal system and that comes down to monopolies. Take other examples in the past Microsoft / Apple / UNIX and Intel / AMD.
In short, what are your thoughts on this? Are you pro for this merger? I think it could be beneficial personally, but the limiting of choices and competition is always bad for the consumer.

Naptown Roller Derby
During this past year i've gotten into the fun sport of Roller Derby, so I just wanted to share this with everyone. We have an awesome local team here and they play home games about once per month. The sport is fast, intense and pretty exhilarating. If you've never been I suggest giving it a shot, the rules are pretty easy and fast to pick up. Give it about a bout and you'll have it down pat in no time.
Also hey, folks on skates kicking ass, you can't go wrong! Go Naptown!

As many of you may have read this past week, Borders has begun closing many stores in various regions due to financial troubles. The following showcases store closures in many area's.
It's sad to see the beginning of an end to an era. With the growing rise of e-books and the continuing troubles of the economy it's no surprise this is happening. Also with the heated competition brick and mortar stores are having with large industry giants such as Amazon.
There is something innately romantic and nostalgic about going to a bookstore...but you be the judge is this for the better or worse?
