this is racist on its own but i think what always gets me about these types of posts is (and i realize this is a very surface level observation but) you never see people on here say "western live-action dramas are the high school girls in underwear medium" people will critique riverdale or pretty little liars or supernatural or the such individually but the issue is almost always attributed to the specific piece of media or the writers and not the medium as a whole despite the fact that a large amount of these examples do in fact do the same things people constantly act like are unique flaws of anime (misogyny, sexualization of high school characters, romanticization of underage characters getting with overage ones, ect.) it's all just very blatant
#while being shit at writing female characters in anime is common thereâs still a good amount of mangakas that actually see their female-#-characters as humans with feelings#I mean Miyazaki is pretty well known for writing good fleshed out female characters in his films and doesnât sexualize them#the majority of his best films are the ones that are female led#thereâs just a group of mangakas that suck at writing female characters bc theyâre misogynist#like in the case of Kishimoto but the one thing he was able to do right was not sexualize his female characters that were minors#except for Narutoâs sexy jutsu thatâs kinda weird if you think about it#but honestly being shit at writing women is just a global thing#I mean just look at the majority of noir films in the 40s-70s#gilda being one of the worst ones bc like how can she be so enamored by this horrible man that eventually hits her and still stays with him

I think "fuck you, I hate your work and I will do it myself and I will do it better" is a really funny and epic sentiment. i started publishing poetry because an ex boyfriend of mine was publishing really ass poetry in a bunch of journals and I was like "Jesus christ, this is garbage, I could do that, and I could do it better." now I have a page in the Academy of American Poets and I've published a full length collection and his website says "former poet." You should win by succeeding way harder than they do. Spite is a legitimate energy source.

The thing that separates "alligator alcatraz" from other detainment centers is the pride being taken in it, the openness about what's going to happen there, the merch. The actual interior of the building and the conditions under which detainees will suffer are not different than other ICE detention facilities
The escalation represented by alligator Alcatraz isn't an escalation in the abuse, its an escalation in the scale at which the abuse is inflicted and in the sense of safety fascists feel when openly celebrating the abuse being inflicted

The new pope is from the US and I have not experienced this much disappointment since the US elections.
