listen, I'm pro 'freedom of artistic expression for fanfic writers', but....
I repeat, go ahead and write any and every fanfic you want to write, in whatever way you want to write it. Writing fanfics is supposed to be a hobby, something for fun and joyous giggles.
As a fanfic writer you have the right and the power to decide what fandoms to write for, how to tell your story, what writing style you want to use for your story, when to share your story, where to post your story, when to update your chaptered story, etc.
Writing fanfics is about you creating an au wherein your faves do the stuff you didn't see in the source material. That's why it's up to you as the writer to decide what you want to write and how.
The readers can't tell you what to write, when or how. They can give constructive critiscm and that's okay but they can't hate on your work or control how you do it.
So please don't allow the hate comments to get to you and control how you write your fanfics. Don't let them doubt how God your writing is.
However, here is the point of this post: if you genuinly feel that your writing could be better, it's okay to improve it.
Just as it's okay to be comfortable in your fanfic-writing, it's also okay to expand your comfort zone.
Just because it's fanfiction doesn't mean it can't be great or top notch. Doesn't mean you have to limit yourself.
Fanfiction is free and for fun, so do it any way that suits you best and makes you happiest. It's okay to write with bad spellings and it's also okay to learn how to spell.
ANYTHING GOES as long as it's for you as the writer and you're happy and in control

side note: the queer community is, by nature, full of people with hard to word and messy experiences. everyone can do whatever they want and people with unusual orientations, genders, and presentations are not the reason bigotry exists in the world. do whatever, love whomever, shape your life to suit your needs, beat language bloody to make room for yourself, your siblings are not the enemy and the only way we're all gonna make it is with compassion for those who are more like us than not.

I've been seeing this PBS ad on TikTok recently, and since I know a lot of people on here don't use TikTok, I thought I'd share it! PBS is asking people to go to https://protectmypublicmedia.org/rsc-emails/ and fill out the information to send an email to your congresspeople. It's super easy too, since they already have the email written out and will send it for you.
Also, PBS kids and sesame street is super important to me so even though the federal funding only makes up about 10% of NPR and PBS's funding, i wanted to share some ways to donate to them (although these are specifically PBS)
https://www.pbs.org/donate/ is the website to donate specifically to PBS; there are 2 ways to donate. You can do a one-time donation of 60 dollars or higher or monthly donations of 5 dollars or more. I just signed up for a 5 dollar monthly donation recently, and it was super easy and probably the more affordable option.
If you have kids who want any PBS Kids shows, there's also a store that sells merch based on the shows. The link for that is https://www.shop.pbskids.org/. They have a lot more variety for newer shows, but they have something for pretty much all of the shows they still play!
Don't let Trump try and take away this incredible source of children's educational media, especially when children's education is already suffering right now. PBS Kids is made possible by viewers like you!

When a person with ADHD complains of severe anxiety, I recommend that the clinician not immediately accept the patient’s label for her emotional experience. A clinician should say, “Tell me more about your baseless, apprehensive fear,” which is the definition of anxiety. More times than not, a person with ADHD hyperarousal will give a quizzical look and respond, “I never said I was afraid.” If the patient can drop the label long enough to describe what the feeling is like, a clinician will likely hear, “I am always tense; I can’t relax enough to sit and watch a movie or TV program. I always feel like I have to go do something.” The patients are describing the inner experience of hyperactivity when it is not being expressed physically.
At the same time, people with ADHD also have fears that are based on real events in their lives. People with ADHD nervous systems are consistently inconsistent. The person is never sure that her abilities and intellect will show up when they are needed. Not being able to measure up at the job or at school, or in social circles is humiliating. It is understandable that people with ADHD live with persistent fear. These fears are real, so they do not indicate an anxiety disorder.
holy SHIT

legit the best advice i can give you: feed your friends
any time someone is in any kind of crisis or upheaval, offer to feed them. tell them they don't have to choose what it is if they can't make decisions, just ask about allergies and preferences and tell them you're just gonna make food happen at their house.
friend having a baby? delivery gift certificate to order food to the hospital after the kid shows up.
someone's relative passes away? offer to make them dinner.
buddy gets laid off? ask if you can order them lunch.
pal stuck in a depressive episode? offer to drive them to fucking mcdonalds, if that's what they want.
people in crisis are tired and sad and angry and the last thing most of them are doing is thinking about feeding themselves. so if you have the ability or time or money, providing that is always, always a good move.
legit i do this all the time, and it is 100% always appreciated. i have taught all my friends that when something happens, we feed each other. it makes people feel extremely cared for, and I cannot recommend it enough.
