pisses me off that shit like cottagecore and like the asthetic that tradwives have has been totally co-opted by right wing. like idk bout u guys but the beginning of my anticapitalist sentiment was when my mother taught me abt how chickens get abused in battery farming, therefore we will have our own chickens at home, and we should crochet our own clothes bc commercial knitwear and fast fashion is exploitative. but if an old woman in a long skirt and a cable knit cardigan started talking to u leftists about anti consumerism you'd probabably assume it was "return to the (fictional) good old days reject innovation" nazi bullshit and i think thats really sad.

i planted a peach tree and a raspberry bush. my garden is in the ground— beets, kale, tomatoes, bell peppers, summer squash, zucchini, basil, dill, cucumbers. the sun is out. i’ve graduated from college. life finally feels like it’s on the right track

baitulmaal - provides a variety of necessities, including food, water, shelter, and medical supplies

i like cottagecore in the leftist, commune, sustainability, animal kindness, community care way. not in the raw milk, tradwife, tinfoil hat way.

i’m all for homesteading AND loving my queer and trans siblings, accessing abortion, freeing palestine, supporting immigrants. black lives matter, vaccines work, and we need to fight for a future that allows everyone to thrive — not just the one percent.

i’m not religious, but i think jesus hit the nail on the head with “love thy neighbor.” because we are all in this together, and if you only look out for yourself, i truly don’t know what to say to you.

humans are meant to be in community. we are meant to take care of each other. we are meant to develop scientific and medical advancements while simultaneously loving our earth and caring for her.

this is the way forward. this is what cottagecore means to me.

there can be no cottagecore without love.

Winter Cottagecore Things

Chopping/stacking firewood.

Bending down in front of a wood-burning stove, feeling the warmth of it as you nudge the embers to life again.

Bringing the biggest quilts out of the closet for your guests. They have traveled in the cold for a while.

Long wool stockings to keep away the chill.

The whistle of a tea kettle from the kitchen.

The warmth of a mug in your hands while you stand on the porch, watching your breath curl in the air.

Big comfortable boots, because the outdoors are still calling.

Getting to wear all the comfy clothes you spent the rest of the year knitting/crocheting.

Mittens. Just mittens.

Oatmeal full of honey to warm you up in the morning.
