Saw an ArenaNet dev in Amnytas while I was running the lantern loop working on my last few pieces of armor. I wouldn't mention it if that's all it was, but they had a ranger pet named Arenapet and I love that for them.
I wish I'd stopped and taken a screenshot but I was on Sapphic Zojja and felt awkward. Like hi there, don't mind me. I'm just here on your character I shoved in a bag and ran away with like Dick Dastardly.

Thoughts on the stream!
Some interesting stuff!
I'm not much of a mesmer player, and I must admit I AM a little sad. If that'd been an ele elite somehow I'd have slapped it on Kippa in a heartbeat. That being said, interesting alternative to the clones, and an interesting build on abilities.
Luminary I was a little disappointed in? It didn't look bad! It just felt a little New Guardian + to me. Guardian Extreme. Guardian Bass Boosted. My feelings on it may change once we get to play it, but at the moment it didn't wow me as much as I'd like.
Galeshot actually surprised me. I think I was the least interested in this one since I don't really play ranger a whole lot, and I was hesitant watching it considering I am stalwartly anti-kit. But it looks really fun and varied. May have to give that one a go.

Thinking about some things in my Tyria-404 setting and how things are altered around the point of the end of Icebrood Saga. I'm retconning some old thoughts, but it's for a good reason... and that's bc I was thinking about this post.
Basically, in that setting, the fight between Jormag and Primordus doesn't end with both of them dead. Instead, with it initially appearing that Jormag has the upper hand, Primordus rears up... and starts to move. Lumbering forward at surprising speed for a beast that massive.
The force of his steps send many falling, causing a couple of rockslides, and killing several as they're caught under his massive feet. Between Aurene and Kippa, the core group gets to safety, forced to watch helplessly as Primordus kills his sibling...
...then disappears into the depths with Braham.
As Rhenn, Iuno, Rytlock, and Crecia reconvene, Kippa sets to helping with the injured. Messages are sent for assistance, and the pact marshal - Zojja in this setting - shows up to assist Kippa with tending the wounded while strategizing with the rest of the team.
No one is sure what exactly to do.
It is a drawn out situation taking close to a month to resolve. In the end, as they're trying to face down Primordus with few other options, Soo Won herself appears, forced to step in and help end her last child's rampage before he destroys everything she created at the very beginning.
Braham is saved from a horrible fate by Aurene, and while not branded, he notes a notable crystalline sheen to his skin. He opts to return to Hoelbrak to recover, but not before conversing with everyone about what's transpired. (He, like Kippa, will take on a unique role for Aurene. What that role is I'm not sure of just yet.)
When the dust clears, Soo Won returns to Cantha, stating that she knows they will follow "when the time comes," not telling them where she came from or where she's heading, setting the stage for the events of End of Dragons.
...with slightly altered bureaucracy, since Soo Won can vouch for Rhenn and Iuno when they get there.

Happy birthday to my beautiful, tragic, depressed, border collie of a lesbian. Here's to however much longer you want in your retirement as Zojja's dedicated trophy housewife.

there really is something about relationships between two people that are simultaneously relationships between three people (or more). you can interpret that however you want. secret identity love squares. two people but one of them is haunted by another person. two people but both of them are haunted by the same person. someone is possessed. literally just a throuple. when there's just two people in the room but they always carry someone else along with them. Something about it.
#keeper vezz#vezz and rissia#his greatsword used to belong to his ex-overseer/lover Zaige#who he killed with his bare hand#and accidentally trapped Zaige's soul inside it#so he's always present quite literally#infiltrator leyya#leyya and zojja#cepir the greedy#and of course... cepir is always in leyya's head up through SotO SO

Just a quick note on the Jennah Debacle:
Not everyone has read the book. I'd go as far as to say a LOT of people have not read the books. They are on the obscure side and not everyone seeks them out. Which means yeah, that behavior is gonna be straight up jarring.
Some people, like me, straight up don't clock or register things as flirtatious. I genuinely never read her as having genuine interest as opposed to her just being nice and not wanting to be rude.
Some people haven't read the books in a long time.
And some people may just be exhausted by the trope of female characters fawning all over the one dude in a room.
It isn't a lack of media literacy or hating women. There's many reasons people may not have had the same take.

A bit of a sillier (and more lewd) one for the community, but if Snargle writes smut of your Commander (or any other characters) in what ways does he alter the public's perception of them? Does he give their bootlegs any specific kinks, causing readers to assume the real deal shares them? Does he damage their reputation or enhance it? Does your character welcome the attention or seethe and try to take the furball to court?
#reblog games#jenn and I have talked about this#vezz and rissia sort of get written as this super dramatic romance where she saves him from his terrible fate at the hands of the Inquest#and he promptly goes all suave antihero who flips the script and romances her once she's freed him from his servitude#meanwhile Rhenn is written fully in his Inquest bad boy persona where he's this sly devilish rogue type#who woos and ''corrupts'' the sweet and gentle and timid healer#which is really funny to both of them because it is public perception in some ways but only one of them was a virgin when they met#and it wasn't Kippa lmao#Snargle's super horny for Menelaus tho and kinda shipped him with himself for a while#self insert x bootleg fanfic novels#and one for a non commander- he did write one about Qirri! but she approached him about how uncomfortable she felt#since she's very demi and not open about romantic stuff outside of the krewe#as I think he's respectful of sexualities and boundaries he did apologize to her and have printing stopped and remaining copies pulled

Man Qirri is gonna find out Vezz and Rissia are hopping back in the Commander Seat and start screaming in the general direction of her sister for getting back into all this nonsense.
(Meanwhile, in Tyria-404, Rhenn is fully prepared to start killing.)

Knights love it when you make increasingly ludicrous demands for them to prove their fealty. Struggling against overwhelming odds where the only light they find in the darkness is the promise of returning to your side victorious and just a little broken is like treats to them.
#infiltrator leyya#leyya and zojja#have I mentioned how incredibly unhealthy their relationship was for a long time#also#technomancer rhenn#rhenn and kippa#that one's not unhealthy he's just basically a trained attack dog and she's the one unintentionally holding the leash fjdksljfkdls

Thinking about how in some ways, making Kippa the way she is, making her a soft, gentle young woman with a tragic past and supremely OP abilities? Is healing for the wee jackalope I was in ye olden days of the internet.
Like, this was the era of the famous old (now disavowed by its creator) Mary Sue Litmus Test. When rp forums and story shares required creators to take that test and determine the OCs in their stories were within a "reasonable" range to not be super sue-ified. And even if you passed, there were a dozen different things that could get you marked immediately as having broken the cardinal rules around the time honored tradition of character making.
And now I have Kippa. Gentle, kind, soft spoken, determined. Refusing to put back into the world the harm and pain she's suffered. She has a connection to Aurene as her Oracle, and as a result of that, her magic is incredibly powerful- particularly her ability to heal, but in other ways too.
If I'd made her in 1996 when I was a teenager, I'd have been eviscerated on the internet.
It's still scary NOW.
But it's nice I'm able to play with the concept.
