Mob coder : a system role which describes someone who is the “boss” of the system and organizes everything from how the system functions, to how frequent switches are, to even which alters are “most important” to the system. Mob coders may also be gatekeepers or functionkeepers.

CODEBREAKER

Codebreaker : a system role which describes someone who doesn't adhere to the rules set by the mob coder, causing dysfunctionality in the system, either because they feel they are superior to them, to mess with them, or to carry out their role as a protector or persecutor.

CODED SYSTEM

Coded System : a system term which describes a collective that is coded to be a certain way, either by someone outside of the system, or a headmate within the system.

THIS IS NOT A RAMCOA TERM.

Being coded is distinct from being programmed because coding happens to systems who are out of order. Coding is a process to help systems rather than harm another person or collective.

Examples of coding could be.. setting a fronting schedule, having a mob coder, having a functionkeeper, having an emcee, having a therapist help the headmates communicate better through various practices, organising headspace in a specifically helpful way, etc.

It is important to note that not all systems can be coded and not all systems who technically classify as being coded will identify as such.

when you believe it's important to criticize the reason for using a transid, not the transid itself.

things to ask:

is this nonconsensual?

is this internalized hatefulness?

is this someone getting away with being cruel because it "gives them euphoria"?

examples:

bad transrace reasoning: culture fetishizing

better transrace reasoning: being mixed and identifying more as one race than the other, being adopted into a family of the opposite race and feeling like the same race as them, etc.

bad transharmful reasoning: abuse without consequences, letting out anger on partner, etc.

better transharmful reasoning: consensual sadistic kink, extreme bdsm, etc.

bad transabled reasoning: fetishizing disabled people and amputees
