You can be depressed and not feel sad or blue. Depression can also be a haze of sleepiness, distractedness/obsessiveness cycles, and a twinge of irritability that can be hard to recognize because you might already be a “fiery” person. It can feel like a lazy Sunday that keeps imposing itself for weeks or months.

Jomies 2am Jack-In-The-Box Run
An idea @rosypenguins and I came up with, and something I chose to ponder over the course of a week(-ish). This fic takes place after the other drake fic I wrote, so they’re all cool w each other :3 (plus i’d wager Drew and Jake have gotten closer because of the prior fic…)
~*~*~*~
“Gooooooooddddddd, there’s nothing to do around hereeeeeeeee…..” Henry said, throwing up one of Drew’s pillows.
“Why can’t we just game some more?” Liam asked, looking over towards Drew.
“Oh hell no, my eyes hurt enough already. Besides, i’m way too tired to do anything else right now.” The purple haired boy said with a sigh.
A silence grew, the boys wondering what activities they should partake in at these hours, when their token blonde piped up.
“I mean… I am kinda hungry, i don’t know about you guys.” He said with a slight chuckle.
“Yknow… come to think about it, the last thing I ate was some pretzels before I came over.” Liam added.
“Oh yeahhhhhhhh, I mean I really only had that juice earlier so I could go for some grub right about now-!“ The green boy said, laughing as he fell from the bed, failing to catch the overthrown pillow, Liam joining his laughter while Jake and Drew just chuckled.
“Yo, floorhead.” Drew said after the commotion died down, “What places are even open at this hour?” He glanced over at Jake, “Any ideas, Jakey?”
“Hmmm… oh! I know Jack in the Box is open right now, they do all sorts of stuff.”
“Yeahhh!! Let’s do that!!” Henry said, grasping Drew’s mattress as he climbed back up onto it.
Liam shrugged, “I don’t mind anything really, so that works.”
Drew kept silent as he nodded along with Liam, standing up. “Alright, i’d assume we’re going there?” The gang piped up with yeses coming from them all, as Drew overlooked them. “So, who’s driving us?”
Blondie raised his hand, “I feel the most awake right now, so I can drive us.” He stretched upwards, yawning and grunting as they got up and walked to his borrowed car.
Car doors were shut, and the boys went on their way to the dingy Jack’s a couple miles from their town. They used to frequent this location after school whenever there was a special event, but ever since they got older, their tastes were also growing more refined. But tonight was a different story, and backed by the glittery night skies, their music and glee filling the air, they drove down the streets of their deathly-quiet neighborhood. Their short drive was accompanied by the singing voices of Liam and Henry, Jake occasionally joining in followed by Drew secretly recording him.
The clique pulled into the drive thru, Jake ordering their items followed up by the quarrel of who would be paying for their feast tonight. Jake ended up paying for them, Liam and Henry promising him money when they went back to school. They pulled into the parking lot, making sure they got everything.
“One burger meal with curly fries and sprite, an order of chicken tenders with halfsie fries, and a breakfast sandwich with a hasbrown and coffee… we got everything!” Jake said with a smile as he began to drive back to Drew’s place, the food resting on the floor in front of their host. Liam and Henry complained about their hunger, closely tailed by Jake scolding the two about “what happened last time”. Their drive home was about the same as the drive out, and when the car shut off their steps were retraced as they headed back inside to begin their feast.
Jake and Drew set the table while Henry and Liam helped themselves to some of Drew’s water bottles stocked in his garage freezer, everyone knows he doesn’t need them. And once the table was set, and everyone’s seat was made, they all sat down. Well.. not before Henry stood up.
“My fellow people… friends… even, comrades i’d say! It is my great honor to join you all in the partake of this feast, and I shall say a few words, I-“
“Shut up and eat dumbass! You can yap all you want on a full belly.” Liam said, lightly punching Henry’s arm.
“Fine, but i should summarize… you guys are awesome and I love being your friends!”
Henry sat down laughing, Liam cheering while Jake and Drew smiled and golf clapped.
As the boys ate, there was no lack of entertainment. Henry and Liam of course devoured their split meal, giving puppy eyes to Drew for half of his hashbrown and to Jake for the rest of his Sprite and some curly fries. Jake took a swig, before handing it to Drew who did the same. He then gave it to Henry and Liam, who fought over turns and fries like a pair of brothers. Jake laughed as Drew looked to him, smiling. As always, he was enamored by this boy. And through conversation, they had finished their feast.
“Whew man I am STUFFED! Thanks Jake!” Henry said loudly, looking over at Liam who said his thanks as well. Drew’s smile persisted as he too thanked the blonde, who had played it off as “his treat for such good friends”. Henry and Liam rushed back to the room while Drew and Jake cleaned the table, the boys talking about the stupidity of the other two.
“Those two sure know how to get their way, don’t ya think?” Jake asked, cleaning off their plates.
“Yep.. they’re like a couple of children.” Drew scoffed with a cracked smile on his face, “It’s like they’re always on the same wavelength.”
“I mean, considering how long they’ve known eachother, I wouldn’t be surprised if they’d know the other like the back of their hand!” Jake chuckled, drying dishes with Drew.
As they finished, Drew looked into Jake’s eyes as they exchanged nervous giggles. “Yknow, Jake…” the magenta haired boy said softly with a smile on his face, “I wouldn’t mind getting to know you like that…” he chuckled, pulling Jake in and softly kissing him, and with the same grace he placed his hand on Jake’s cheek as he pulled out of it. “Thanks for dinner, dork.” He then turned and walked out of the kitchen, poorly hiding himself losing his shit at the stunt he just pulled.
Jake really couldn’t help but to want the same thing, his giddiness showing for a minute before he followed behind Drew to their group-shared room.

The Drake fic from the poll, surprise!!
Figured why not give you guys the best of both worlds. :)
Enjoy :3
The boys had finished their festivities, and the moon was rising. Today had been their weekly hangout day, where they all get together at someone’s house, this weeks being Jake’s, and just be kids. Goodbyes littered the air as their games and leftover trash did the floor, with Drew staying behind to help Jake clean up. However, as they cleaned up, something was on the magenta-haireds’ mind.
“What’s up Drew? You doing okay?” Jake questioned, having just now noticed the somber expression on his best friends face. “Yeah, i was just thinking about asking a silly question, that’s all” Drew chuckled, playing off his tugging urge to spit it out. He wanted more time with his blonde bestie, or “bestie”. He didn’t really know yet, nor was he planning on discovering it, but he just wanted more of him.
Jake smiled at him, “Well i’m sure it’s not that stupid, cmon, hit me with it.” The response was a shrug, followed with a whispered “whatever” as he returned attention with him. “I was just wondering if i could.. like stay here tonight? I’m really tired and-“ Jake put his hand up and smiled, “Do you even have to ask? Of course you can dude, ‘mi casa es su casa’ or whatever the hell those guys say” Drew chuckled a bit “You’re so cringe dude, but thank you.”
Flashing him a thumbs up, Jake threw away the last bit of trash while Drew put away the last game. Jake put his arm around Drew and wiped his forehead. “Whew! Finally, thought that would take all night, good thing there were two of us.” Drew snorted, “Homie, there’s no way you’re tired after that. You’re such a loser.” Jake laughed and gestured towards Drew to follow behind him and to his room. “Hey man i’m gonna shower real quick, you okay with that?”
Drew shot him a look as he threw one of the shirts from the bed at Jake. “Why would i care? I’m not your boyfriend so i wouldn’t be all “wItHoUt Me?” Go ahead man” Jake caught the shirt and laughed, “Alrighty, thanks bro!” As he walked down the hallway, Drew sat down on Jake’s bed and pulled out his phone.
Drew started to think as he scrolled through social media, ‘Why did i say that? Am i stupid or something? Why would i care about being…’ his heart thumped twice, louder than subsequence. ‘Do i really like this guy? Am i really just another run-of-the-mill fag like Zander?’. He continued to question himself, slowly but surely digging himself a hole. One that involved Jake. He hated to admit it, but he loved Jake, he loved him a lot. He probably loved Jake more than that blonde loved Daisy, but alas, his emotions were going unanswered, unseen through the eyes of the blonde boy he’d caught himself admiring. He held his arms across his stomach, small tears welling up in his eyes as thoughts raced through his mind.
‘Why doesn’t he love me?’
‘Why do i have to sit here and watch as he pursues someone i can treat him better than?’
‘Why would he love me? He probably doesn’t give a shit about me.’
‘If i’m worthless to my parents, sure as hell am worthless to him, he probably just treats me well out of pity.’
Tears started to gently roll down his cheeks as the thoughts kept swirling, his lip curling back into his mouth and fastened to his teeth as he tries to not make a sound. He didn’t need Milo or Jake’s mom walking in and seeing him like this. Hell, he didn’t need Jake seeing him like this either. He wiped his tears with the cuffs of his sleeves as he heard footsteps heading towards the room. ‘Shit, he’s done already?’ He scrambled to mask his emotions as Jake walked into the room, fresh out of the shower.
Jake glanced at Drew with a smile but quickly noticed something was off. Drew’s eye contact now being dodgy, looking away from Jake any time he tried to get into his field of vision. “So.. uh.. anything new happen while i was in there?” “Nothing, nothing at all.” Drew quickly snapped back. Jake threw his dirty clothes into the hamper and sat next to Drew, the magenta haired boy trying to distance himself, for both of their sakes.
He sighed, looking at Drew. “Hey man, what’s going on? I know you’re “fine” as always, but it seems like you’re not now.” Drew pinched himself in the side to hold back what was boiling over at this point. “I’m fine man, really i’m-“ cut off again. He found himself somewhere that he never expected, though. Jake had pulled Drew in and held his head against his chest. The boiling only became more violent as it was now a struggle to keep himself together. Drew opened his mouth to say something, but got hit with the smell of his best friend. He loved how Jake smelt, no matter what condition he was in he always smelt like something that was indescribable yet perfectly identifiable; himself. A comforting, yet faint trait about Jake he placed on his long list of why he liked him.
Drew choked back his next few breaths as he struggled to keep his composure. Rather than give Jake sass as he usually does when he gets comforted, he couldn’t resist the urge to wrap his arms around him. He really liked Jake, he liked being held. He liked being in his arms. He WANTED to be in his arms. Jake looked at Drew with a soft gaze, a small smile stretching from his lips as he placed his hand on Drew’s head. Through broken words and the navy blue jacket, the magenta haired boy spoke. “You’re so fucking cheesy, you know that? I’m fine dude, stop doing this.” His fingers spoke other words, though. They held onto Jake’s back, his nails digging a bit into his skin through the fabric.
As the boy choked on his breath, he eventually broke and started to sob. He despised himself, and he despised how he felt. However, he couldn’t stop feeling these ways, no matter how hard he tried to push it down. Clinging to Jake, he tried to force himself away, his fingers spoke from his heart and his body spoke with his head. He didn’t want to lose Jake by saying anything, and he didn’t want to be in love with him. He had Zoey, he didn’t need Jake, right?
Right?
Jake held Drew close, allowing Drew the same grace that he had been given. He ran his fingers through the silky magenta strands with a small smile. Unbeknownst to Drew, Jake had been going through similar difficulties. He didn’t want to lose Drew, and he didn’t want to step in between him and his girlfriend. ‘Even if i can’t love him like Zoey does…’ he thought, propping up Drew a bit to hold him closer, ‘i can still be here for him, like a good friend should be.’ He was starting to feel a few small tears of his own growing on his ducts. ‘I… think i love him more than i even realize..’ he appreciated each slow motion through Drew’s hair, ‘But.. he has a girlfriend and.. why would he love me the same?’
Drew broke free of Jake’s grasp and quickly swung his head to the side, making every effort to cover his face. He was crying, he thought it was weak. He thought that if he cried now, Jake would see him as useless, pathetic, trash. During his attempts to stop the crying, he felt a soft hand rest itself on his cheek, one whose thumb wiped up the tears that had been smeared on his face prior. The hand turned his head to face the other way, towards Jake. Jake was looking at him, tears in his own eyes, and a soft smile on his face. ‘Fuck him and his pretty eyes… fuck him and his stupid ass smile..’ Drew couldn’t bring himself to swat Jake’s hand, however, instead resting his own on top. He wasn’t familiar with this, but he loved it. As he stared into Jake’s eyes he couldn’t help but let his tears fall, his thoughts fading away as Jake’s other thumb helped wipe his tears.
Jake held Drew’s face in his hands now, a sobbing mess of an old friend. But, Jake still loved him. At this point he’d memorized every bit of his face, every crease on his lips, every mark on his cheeks, how his hair swayed and how his eyes sparkled. Jake loved everything about Drew, he couldn’t stand to see him like this anymore, broken and uncherished, someone who hadn’t been able to let out his frustrations in a healthy manner since he was young. He whispered, “Hey, it’s okay Drew. I’m here for you.” His thumbs rubbed across Drew’s cheeks as he struggled to hold it together.
He wanted Jake so badly, to be held, loved, comforted, anything as long as it was Jake. Drew started to cry again, not being able to control himself as he tackled Jake in a tight hug, pushing his best friend into the mattress as he cried more. He always thought crying was something that made you weak, so why did it feel so good with him? He clung to Jake as he felt the hand hold the back of his head yet again, silently stroking his hair, reminding him that he wasn’t alone anymore. That he was more than just a tool to be used by everyone until he broke. Somebody that actually meant something to someone else.
He loved crying in Jake’s arms. He loved Jake. He couldn’t deny it, and he didn’t want to. He lifted his head up slowly and he rolled over to Jake’s side, slightly embarrassed about the outburst. Jake chuckled and held Drew’s hand, knowing it would help at least a little. Drew looked to him, calming himself down. “Thank you.. i appreciate it..” he mumbled, rubbing his thumb on Jake’s hand as the blonde smiled. “I’m here for you man, you deserve a lot, and i want to give you everything that you want.”
Drew bit his lip, eventually letting go and before he could stop himself, he said in a shaky voice, “I want.. you.. Jake..” his face heated up a bit as he looked towards the blonde, expecting a disapproving stare or blunt no, but to his surprise, Jake still wore that stupid smile of his. Before Drew could take it back, the blonde spoke. “I’m sure i can do my best with that, you already mean a lot to me, plus i kinda was shooting for the same thing.” He laughed, “It’s funny, after I stopped with Daisy i really couldn’t look at anyone like i did her…”. His eyes lit up faintly, “But i realized the one i did was right under my nose.”
Drew could feel his heart pounding, his palms were a bit sweaty as he started to shake a bit. He never knew Jake would ever think like that, nevertheless confess to him, in bed, holding his hand. But.. it happened. He couldn’t think straight, but hearing those words made him smile. Genuinely. His lips tugged back at his cheeks as he kept staring into the blondes eyes. Looking at Zoey never made him feel this way, this deep of a love didn’t come from her, it was rumored to only come from someone special, and this boy, well, he was special.

The poll winner! I had fun writing this, and i’m really excited to share it with you guys.
Oh and, i may or may not also post the Drake one too lol
Late-Night Confessions
The low rumble of his car was filling the air, soft romance playing through his speakers as he focused on the dimly lit pavement ahead of him. He just wanted to get out of his house and do something, something more than trolling kids on roblox with henry or watching youtube in his bed all day. Go figure the moment he wanted to do something was at about 2am, where there quite literally was nothing else to do apart from taking in the stars and enjoying his stereo’s quality contrast to his headphones. He turned down a familiar road, shortly thereafter pulling over to make a quick call. Nights like these aren’t properly enjoyed without someone else. Henry was asleep, Jake went to bed earlier as well, who else did he know that also pulled frequent all nighters?
Ringing….
“Hello?”
“Hey Drew, are you up?”
“Yeah i’m totally asleep right now, dumbass.”
chuckle “I can tell you’re jolly, you busy?”
“Depends on what you say next I guess.”
“Wanna come for a drive? I’m kinda lonely and could totally use my Juliet”
“Shut the fuck up.”
“Whaaat? I thought you found that bit funny.”
“….No. Not at all.”
snicker “alrighty, i’ll be there in a few minutes, sound good?”
“Whatever man, see you then.”
Beep.
He turned off the curb and drove a bit, wondering why he was always so… soggy? He couldn’t come up with a better description nor did he care to, he thought the mental image of a soggy Drew was humorous. Speak of the devil, in front of his bigger, more put together residence was the sog himself. He pulled up to the curb and allowed the purple haired boy to hop in the passengers seat, giving him a little wave.
“Hey Juliet, how’s it-“ A finger smushed against his lips.
“Don’t.”
“Alright alright,” he giggled, “i’ll stop. Any places in mind you’d want to hit up at this hour?”
“No, i thought you were the one taking me out?”
“Oh-ho, didn’t realize this was a date”
Drew pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed, “Just bring us somewhere before I tuck and roll.”
“Aye aye, Captain.”
The car pulled out slowly as they drove out of the neighborhood, the empty roads lined with the runway of street lamps. Liam’s soft music continued to play as he drove, occasionally glancing over at Drew who had been staring out the window. Liam smiled, turning into the parking lot of a small cafe along a strip mall, hosting shops that needn’t be named.
He turned the key and shut off the ignition, pulling up the emergency brake. “Alright Captain, we’re here.”
Drew sighed, “Coffee? At this hour?”
“What? It sounded good to me? Don’t you try and act all innocent either, i know you’re popping monsters like they’re headache meds at ungodly hours of the night.”
“Whatever dude,” a small smile tugged at the edges of his lips, “let’s just get this over with.”
“Nothing more, captain.” Liam smiled back.
They stepped out of the car, shutting and locking it before walking inside the cozy cafe. The soft brown walls complimented with the somber notes of coffee in the air, lamps decorating the ceiling like the stars with old wooden seating below them. Both of the boys glanced over the menu. Drew went first, ordering a dirty chai latte with Liam following up with an iced caramel latte.
Drew gave the brown haired boy his card, heading to the bathroom to wash his hands. Liam slipped the card into his pocket and handed a $20 bill to the cashier, taking his change and finding them a seat. Drew walked to the table and sat across from Liam, receiving his card back and smiled a bit.
“You didn’t buy out the store, did you?”
“Oh of course not! I toooootally wouldn’t use your money to buy all the pastries and drinks i could ever ask for..” he chuckled
“Of course you would…” his smile grew slightly, resting his hands on the table.
Their drinks shortly came out thereafter, conversation being struck up about one thing or the other, laughter erupting from Liam whilst Drew was more soft spoken when listening to the brown haired boys quips he had used prior on little kids in Roblox. Drew heard these stories a thousand times over, all the same formula with different numbers. But he always found them to be intriguing, taking note of the insults they came up with, and more minute details in how Liam’s eyes lit up whenever he spoke about “owning” his “rivals”. He was taking notice of a lot of features on his friend, and as the store speakers started up with some soothing jazz, the next 30-or-so minutes became a blur. A lovely, relaxing blur.
Liam stretched upwards and looked at the magenta haired boy, who was leaning on his hand.
“So, you ready to get out of here?”
“Yeah, ready when you are”
Liam left a five at the table, got up with the other boy and walked back to the car, hopping back in and turning on the car.
“That was fun, i enjoyed that Drew.”
“Thanks, i had fun too.”
“Sadly though, i have to get you home now. I think that’s all we have time for tonight”
Drew’s smile faded. “Oh. Alright, i guess that’s chill.”
Liam raised his eyebrow, “What do you mean? Do you not want to go home?”
“Kinda yeah.. you think i can crash at your place tonight?”
“Yeah of course! My parents wouldn’t mind, their only rule is “No Girls Allowed” or whatever..”
Drew smiled. “Cool, thanks man..”
Liam tapped Drew’s shoulder with his fist, smiling back. “No problem man, i’m happy to help!”
The car ride back was about as eventful as the car ride to the shop, a partially lit road and low rumble of the wheels harmonizing with Liam’s liked songs, soft and romantic harmonies painting the sky as did the stars. Drew rolled down his window, letting the cool winds flow through his hair and the car, gazing at the beauty of the stars, reading the stories they told. Liam took notice of this and smiled, he was happy to see Drew, happy to just have him here, in his car, and soon in his house for the night. They’ve had countless sleepovers before, but rarely would they choose Liam’s house, due to Drew’s wealthy estate being far more eventful than Liam’s small home could ever hold a torch to.
They pulled into the driveway, the same parking sequence executed as they hopped out and snuck back into the house. Liam’s parents were asleep, so they had to tiptoe to his small, slightly messy room. As Liam shut the door, Drew knelt down.
“Hey Liam, you cool if i move some of this stuff off your floor?”
“Yeah of course, why do you ask though?”
“So i can sleep somewhere, duh. Thought you’d be a little smarter”
Liam frowned a bit as his heart broke a little.“Dude. You are not sleeping on the floor.”
“Then where should i sleep? On the couch?”
“No, that couch isn’t the best for sleeping. Trust me on this” Liam snapped his fingers and smiled at Drew, “Why don’t we just share a bed? Seems like the best course of action here to be honest”
Drew sighed “Alright man, whatever you want. Just don’t get pissed off at me if your parents shake you awake while screaming “oh you have a boyfriend now or what??””
He changed into his pajamas and handed Drew a spare set he had. “Psssh they wouldn’t, besides it’s not like they care enough to check on me in the mornings anyway.”
Drew begrudgingly took the clothes and changed into them, the smell of Liam faint on his body now. “Whatever, loser.”
Drew laid down on the bed, pulling out his phone and watching from his peripheral as Liam booted up his pc. “Yo dude, what are you doing?”
“Oh, i just gotta do a couple quick things on Genshin. I’ll probably forget to do them later so might as well get them done now.”
“Christ, alright.”
About 30 minutes passed, Drew fed up with doomscrolling through Instagram and being constantly reminded of what he lacked. He looked up, Liam locked in on some random side quest. “How much longer until you’re done dude?”
“Oh give me like, five more minutes?”
“Whatever.” The magenta boy pulled his phone out again, this time opening up youtube and watching the newest Pengiunz0 video.
The 20 minute video ended, Liam still as locked in as ever. Drew was fed up at this point and aimed a stuffie at the brown haired gamer.
“Hey dipshit, finish up so I can sleep.” He lobbed the poor stuffed bear at Liam, who was hit square in the back of the head and laughed.
“Woah dude, chill out! Since you’re so needy right now, i’ll put my very important quest on hold just for you princess.”
“Shut the fuck up before I hit you between the eyes next time.”
Liam shut down his computer, shortly after it powering off walking back to his now-shared mattress.
Both boys now laid on the bed, Liam yawning and stretching out while Drew cozied up under the covers, laying on his back. Drew felt safe here, safer than he would’ve felt alone at home anyway. He turned to face the brown haired boy, who had lifted the shared covers over his body.
“Hey Drew, you do realize this looks… like… really homiesexual right?”
“You’re the one who offered the bed, jackass..” He made a small pouting noise before flipping over and cozying up under the blanket.
“Honestly….” As he’d done before, Liam slipped his hand around Drew’s waist, spooning him and slowly pressing his chest to the purple haired boys back “I can’t complain” He said, softly chuckling.
“H-hey what-“ Drew didn’t expect this, making another noise, this time surprised as he felt his heart in his throat “What do you think you’re doing??” His face now warm and red
Liam lifted his free hand, placing it on Drew’s head, letting the silky strands coat his fingers as he started to play with it. “I gotta get into the stereotype somehow, right?”
“Fuck you…” After a few minutes of this, Drew couldn’t help but place his hand on top of Liam’s that was around his waist. He felt the boys hand turn and interlock his fingers between his own. Drew’s heart thumped louder now, he couldn’t handle this. But somehow… this felt right. Drew smiled a bit as he enjoyed this, Liam’s occasional shifting causing him to vocalize more.
After a while of this, Liam gently pressed his face into the back of the magenta-haired boys’ neck, smiling as he did so. “You’re so gay it actually hurts”
Drew reached around and smacked Liam’s head, laughing, “You’re the one that’s doing all this, dumbass! If anything, you’re the gay one!”
“Well you haven’t opposed to it, right?”
“Well…”
“So why not just say we’re both gay and call it a night, yeah?”
“Fuck off.” The smaller boy smiled, holding the hand of the big spoon, dozing off to the soft breaths that caressed his neck.
