i love love love how the show does not portray religion as a restricting force over the lady parts even when portraying narratives of inner conflict. Amina is looking for a husband because she doesn’t want to be lonely, not because she has been told to fulfill a submissive wife role. Ayesha doesn’t get kicked out of a mosque for being gay, she gets kicked out for cussing at an old lady. Saira and Ayesha meet at the mosque like so many friendships do, lady parts starts with a prayer. Noor’s problem is bullying and peer pressure, not the way she practices Islam. Amina is meek because she has anxiety, not because she’s oppressed. Ayesha chooses not to come out not because they would disown her but because it would be too emotionally difficult. Momtaz chooses to wear the niqab and she’s loud and funny and sarcastic. there is no dichotomy in the show of normal religious expression (re: aligns with culturally western moral values) vs freaky weirdo religious fanatic. even in the marriage meeting at the beginning of the show the other people are flawed because they’re judgemental and rude, not because they go on hajj and wear jilbaab. because this show is about real people.

hereeee are the screenshots;

first off, if you dont know what they're talking abt when they say monty is likely an sa survivor (yes ik hes dead but that was because of a TRAIN so hes still a survivor), im pretty sure they're referring to the flashbacks in ep 87. that ep always made me uncomfortable, but I haven't seen many ppl mention the implications behind it

like putting your hands on him while he screams at you to knock it off is already setting off red flags, but the fact you can see marks on places like his thigh and hip? that reaaallyy rubs me the wrong way

alrr now back to ep 120

when will kissed him, his reaction was definetelyy more than just "whut is this sissy white boy doin he is about'tuh DIE".

every time we see montresor in an intimate "relationship," hookup is proly a better word, it was always him that initiated it. he likes to keep control over that aspect of his life because its something he couldnt always control. will kissing him was the first exception to that rule.

so for monty to lose his last bit of control, especially in a situation like that, mustve been horrifying for him. imagine having to relive some of ur trauma while also actively developing a new trauma. not fun!

also add in the internalized homophobia he definitely has from his time period and the church? HORRRIBLEE combination of things 😭

i rly hope they have a sit down in the future and just vent to each other because god they need it
