In collaboration with Hurtado BBQ; all my opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the restaurants that support Little Things with Mo!
I have always loved eating at food trucks. I think there’s something so unique and special about being able to get excellent food from a truck. All the magic and love that goes into the food happens in a small space and it’s a different environment from a restaurant. I had the pleasure of trying out a barbecue food truck that has been getting some great reviews!
Brandon is the man behind Hurtado. He states that he always had a passion for cooking but his love for barbecue didn’t get serious until last year. Hurrtado started off as pop-up events at breweries where his food would sell out. Because of that success, he decided to go with a larger smoker and a food truck. Pretty soon, they will be opening a restaurant this upcoming November!
What I applaud the most about Hurtado is changing up the meat menu! Usually, it’s pretty much the same meats at every barbecue restaurant but Hurtado is bringing quail to the game and it’s delicious!
Future things to look for? The new restaurant in November! They will be serving smoked s’mores for dessert and BBQ-inspired brunch on Sundays with dishes such as brisket migas and pulled pork huevos rancheros! His favorite menu item? Smoked quail and spare ribs His little thing? When he opens his wallet to buy coffee in the morning and sees a stick note his girlfriend had left him – telling him how proud she is. Aw!
The Little Things of Hurtado BBQ
Seeing a small business become successful Food trucks Beautiful weather for eating outside Watching people do what they love
WHAT WE ORDERED:
El Jefe Platter: This amazing spread definitely contains enough food for 3-4 people! It contains 1 smoked quail, 1/4lb brisket, spare ribs, pork belly burnt ends, and sausage. All for $25! All the meats were good but my favorite was definitely the smoked quail. It’s such a unique BBQ meat dish I haven’t seen at other places and it’s definitely something you can’t miss! 4/5
Chili Mac: I love myself a good side dish of mac n cheese with BBQ and this hit the spot with it’s cross in texture of the mac n cheese and what I believe was something like hot cheetohs sprinkled above it. The flavor was a tad bit blend but still a decent side! 3.5/5
Serrano Coleslaw: When I first dug into this dish, I totally forgot that the first word was serrano and the spice really hit me! I’m usually a weakling for spice but my mom is a champ and she definitely thought the side was decently spicy. I’ve never had spicy coleslaw before but I think I like the twist! Definitely something to try! 4/5
Sausage
Pork belly burnt ends
Quail
SERVING:
Meats (prime beef ribs, prime brisket, pork spare ribs, pork belly burnt ends, smoked Texas quail, house sausage
El Jefe Platter (described above)
Sides – chili mac, spicy charro beans, serrano coleslaw, smoked elotes
Dessert – house cupcakes
If you want beer, there’s a brewery (Division Brewing) next door!
REMEMBER – they open on Saturday at 11AM and if you want the best meats and choices – get there early because they close when they sell out and they sell out fast!
TIP: You can pre-order ahead of time on their website and pick up your food by 10:30AM! Do so on their  website!
Serrano Coleslaw
Mac n Cheese
WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO ORDERING NEXT
The quail again with the smoked elotes!

HAPPY WEEKLY LITTLE THINGS!
Story Behind Featured Image (#335): Ida Claire – Always the best feeling when you’re hungry and not that many minutes after you order, your food is brought to you hot and steaming
331. Unique names 332. Looking over a test and catching a mistake 333. When little kids reach to hold your hand 334. Crisp money bills 335. When your food arrives earlier than you thought it would
WHAT WE ORDERED:
Low Country Breakfast: Contains the bone in ham steak with sunny side up egg, biscuits, black pepper gravy, skillet potatoes, and seasonal fruit. A super hearty breakfast! 4/5
Waffle Benedicts: A spin off of the eggs benedict with waffles and topped with braised short rib, spinach, hollandaise, and sunny side up eggs. I love when a restaurant can pull off a unique eggs benedict. 4/5
Nashville Hot Chicken: Spicy crisp chicken breasts with pimento cheese on toast with cucumbers and onions. Not overly spicy so definitely wouldn’t meet the standard of the famous Nashville hot chicken, but still a great, tasty dish. 4/5
Shrimp & Grits: This is the best shrimp & grits dish I’ve had in Dallas. It rivals Haywire (which I remember the waiter at Haywire telling me their shrimp & grits is a play off of Ida Claire). It contains Texas prawns, bacon, gristmill parmesan grits, and sauce piquant. 5/5 [MO APPROVED DISH]
Bottle of Bubbles: A great way to do brunch and split mimosas with friends! This was also a perfect way for me to introduce the concept of mimosa to my mom haha! It’s $20 and it comes with a bottle of bubbles with two juices of your choosing. You can choose from orange, pineapple, grapefruit, and cranberry
My recommendations: All of the above
SERVING:
Brunch, lunch, and dinner
Happy Hour: M-F 3-6PM & 9-11PM. $5 bar bites and discounts off of drinks including cocktails
WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO ORDERING NEXT
Coming back again for lunch/dinner/happy hour!
Also wanting to come back and rent out the airstream to dine in!

HAPPY WEEKLY LITTLE THINGS!
Story Behind Featured Image (#328): Hammond’s Gourmet Ice Cream – One of my San Diego food recommendations! This place is such a cute ice cream shop! Flights are all the rage now and ice cream flights are the top of the list! I honestly think flights are the best way to experience a restaurant or dessert place. Most of the times when traveling, you only get to experience the place once so a flight is the best way to sample all of the best flavors and options. Not to mention, this makes the cutest photo!
326. A huge bear hug when you are emotional stressed 327. Someone who knows when to comfort you without even asking 328. First scoop of ice cream from the tub 329. When a baby falls asleep in your arms 330. When you glance over at someone and he/she is already looking at you
WHAT WE ORDERED:
You can do flights as 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and the all time ultimate of 32 – meaning you taste ALL the flavors! My friend and I went with the six cone flight. All the cones are mini so you won’t get too full too fast.
My favorites: Green Tea, Honey Lavender, Lychee Cream
SERVING:
Ice cream – single servings or flights
Floats
Sundaes
PARKING: Street parking

In collaboration with Sushi de Handroll; all my opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the restaurants that support Little Things with Mo!
Handrolls are the newest and hottest way to eat sushi nowadays! Restaurants that specialize in this are popping up in Dallas, and this place is a gem tucked away at The Hill! Hisayo and Mai are the people behind the scenes of this great new restaurant!
Hisayo and Mai were born in Japan and trained in Japanese cuisine. They continued to learn more about Japanese food as well as American cuisine by working in several restaurants in America. Their goal is to introduce cultured Japanese food at a reasonable price to people in Texas. They wanted people to see that sushi is not just an expensive meal, but it can also be a casual, comfort food! In my opinion, they have definitely accomplished this goal!
Deviating away from the typical sushi pieces at other restaurants, Sushi de Handroll introduces a different way to love sushi! I can’t wait to go back!
What is the owners’ favorite menu item? Crunchy Shrimp Tempura Roll Their little thing? Hugging her dogs when she wakes up
The Little Things of Sushi de Handroll
Seeing your food coming in the restaurant Unique type of restaurant Ordering several dishes at a restaurant rather than one Finding a good restaurant you know you’ll come back to The first bite of food when you’re really hungry Having your food made right in front of you
WHAT WE ORDERED:
Hanjuku Jidori Egg: Poached free range egg with tempura sauce and microgreens. Mmm this was such a good starting dish! 5/5 || MO APPROVED DISH ||
Creamy Sweet Potato Sand: The name of this dish is so interesting! It’s basically cream cheese with Japanese sweet potato tempura with maple salt! 4/5
Gari Gari Chips: Pickled ginger with furikake flake and mayo dipping. I’m not even a fan of ginger usually and thought this was pretty decent and very unique! 4/5
Creamy Scallop Roll: Seared baby scallop mix with masago roe and mayo on a bed of shiso leaf. True to it’s name, definitely a creamy option! 4/5
Toro Roll: Fatty tuna with scallions. YUM! 5/5 || MO APPROVED DISH ||

In collaboration with Felix Culpa; all my opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the restaurants that support Little Things with Mo!
Felix Culpa is one of the most beautiful restaurants I’ve seen in a while to pop up in Dallas. Elegance is demonstrated everywhere in the furniture and decor as well as incorporating mid-century modern era artwork. The royal blue furniture and the gorgeous chandeliers invites you to a different world. It’s an amazing place to go after work as it transports you from the daily grind of work to a high end life.
It’s a great place for a date night or a girls’ night out, but be ready to pay a pretty penny! I highly recommend the Grilled Octopus! Their menu is changing as well and I’m hoping they release a happy hour menu soon!
The Little Things of Felix Culpa
A gorgeous restaurant When a restaurant has a signature drink Plates that are decorated beautifully Restaurants with valet parking
WHAT WE ORDERED:
The menu here is definitely on the $$$. Each dish is greater than $20 which is typical for higher end of Dallas restaurants! This is coming from someone who makes a resident salary haha.
Yukon Gnocchi: Made with garlic, pickled fennel, lemon, swiss chard, and pickled onion. 4/5
Grilled Octopus: With fingerling potatoes, prosciutto, olive, red pepper puree, and their special green goddess sauce which is AMAZING. I want that bottled in a jar so I can buy it. Definitely my favorite dish from what I ordered. The octopus was made perfectly with the right texture – not overly chewy! 5/5 ||MO APPROVED||
Gravlox Salad: With greens, cured salmon, beets, and citrus. A yummy, healthy option! 4/5
Et Tu Brute Flatbread: Sopressata, crumbled hot Italian sausage, bressola, prosciutto, mozzarella.
The Felix Culpa Drink: With Grey Goose Vodka, Lillet Rose, raspberries, lemon, and prosecco. 4/5
Maple Walnut Old Fashioned: I’m not a fan of old fashioned but my friend is, and she approved of this drink!

In collaboration with BIZZ; all my opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that support Little Things with Mo!
I love a good charcuterie board, and I love designing them as well. Not only are they gorgeous to look at, but they’re delicious and the perfect thing to share with family and friends. I’ve created several for parties and get togethers, but charcuterie is also the perfect thing for a picnic.
If you don’t have a fancy picnic basket or you just want to grab your ingredients for charcuterie really fast, I suggest packing them into these handy BIZZ bento-style lunchboxes! They come in several pastel colors, hold several compartments, easily snap together, and they are sealed tight to prevent any leaks! They are also see-through making it easy to see exactly what is in each container.
There are so many ways you can make a board, and I know when I’m standing in the aisle of Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods, I’m wondering what’s the best combination of cheeses and meats. I’ve tried several different kinds, and I’m sharing with you all one of my favorite combinations!
Simple To-Go Charcuterie Board Recipe
Cheese – Irish Porter Cheddar Cheese – Le Delice de Bourgogne – Triple Cream Soft Ripened Cheese
It’s the perfect combination of a soft and a hard cheese!
Meat – Calabrese Salame, Prosciutto, and Capocollo
Other -Cheddar Cheese Sticks from Trader Joe’s -Classic Original Water Crackers
Don’t forget your wine of choice!
Pack them all in your BIZZ lunchbox like below and you have here a cute, delicious spread! These lunchboxes also come with spoons and forks!
BIZZ also sells more than lunchboxes. They sell stainless steel ice cubes (perfect for your iced coffee and to prevent real ice cubes from watering it down) and an excellent wine set that includes items easy to take with you on your picnic to open a wine bottle. The set includes a wine pump with four reusable silicone corks, a foil cutter, and a cork remover.
What are your favorite charcuterie combinations?

In collaboration with Mudhen; all my opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the restaurants that support Little Things with Mo!
Mudhen is one of the restaurants in Dallas that basically brought the farm to table concept to life. I had the pleasure of sitting down with Madison, their event specialist, who spun for me a delightful story of how this beautiful restaurant came about. Many years ago, Mudhen brought a fresh new concept to Dallas that changed the culinary scene. They decided to create a healthy menu and introduce the idea to the community that healthy food could taste good.
The owner of Mudhen is a genius for turning a random building into a beautiful area for people to dine as well as creating a menu full of local ingredients of greens, fruits, and meat that are tasty. The owner even had their own greenhouse placed in the restaurant which you can see from their patio area. Some of the cocktails off of the menu are even inspired and created by their own staff! It is this type of restaurant that makes me excited to watch their progress and see what comes next!
They are constantly changing their menu and introducing new seasonal specials, and recently they have released their Beautimous Bowls feature, and I got the pleasure of trying them and they are excellent! Check them out!
The Little Things of Mudhen

WHAT WE ORDERED:
The Perfect Bowl – This bowl has a 44 Farms grass fed beef patty combined with sticky rice, broccolini, and Thai chili sauce. The beef patty was a little bit on the salty side but it was overall a great combination of flavors and I ate every last bit. 4/5
Jr’s Rotisserie Chicken – Garden herb rubbed free range chicken with sweet potato mash and green beans. 4/5
Loco Moco – 44 Farms ground beef, bacon and cremini mushroom patty over cauliflower rice, sunny side up Vitals Farm egg, and sriracha vinaigrette. I think this is a great concept of a dish but the ground beef and cauliflower rice combination was good but not great. 3.5/5.
New English Breakfast – Comes with two eggs, Applewood bacon, chicken sausage, sweet potato mash, roasted heirloom tomato, toast, and dressed arugula. A yummy combination for breakfast! 4/5.
Their cocktail menu is always changing but I have to say I recommend really trying more of their green cocktails which is unique compared to other places! They taste like a delicious spiked green juice!

In collaboration with Botolino; all my opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the restaurants that support Little Things with Mo!
In the year of 2010, I was introduced to gelato during my travels in Italy and fell in dessert love. I remember my friends and I would eat gelato three times a day while we were traveling throughout the country. To me, this was above ice cream in so many different ways. Sadly, when my European adventures ended, I found it extremely difficult to find any shop in Texas that served gelato at the same level as in Europe.
Well, until I found Botolino.
This amazing gelato shop on Greenville brings me back to my days of buying a gelato cone in the streets of Firenze. The gelato here is absolute perfection! The flavors are of abundance, and they are always trying something new! This place is an absolute gem in Dallas, and one of the places I always recommend when someone visits.
I got the chance to speak with Carlo Gattini who told me about the origin of Botolino. His love of cooking goes all the way back to his grandmother. He was raised in a family of culinary masters, and he expresses how growing up in Tuscany and Dallas has influenced the way he makes gelato.
All I have to say is that I appreciate people like Carlo whose gelato is a prime example of absolute love and culinary mastery transformed into perfection!
The Little Things of Botolino
Gelato on a hot day Trying a new flavor and loving it Places that offer seasonal or rotating flavors Tasting samples A perfectly scooped scoop of gelato When there’s gelato left at the bottom of the cone
MY FAVORITE FLAVORS: (These are my favorite, but I believe all of their flavors are delicious!)
Amarena
Marcarpone and Figs – love, love, love this one!

In collaboration with Toasted Coffee + Kitchen; all my opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the restaurants that support Little Things with Mo!
Toasted has so many qualities in a coffee shop that I absolutely love. The large working space, the vast menu, and quality food to go with quality coffee. It really is one of the best places in Dallas to get work done! I got the chance to speak with Bob, the owner, on how this place got started. He is someone with a variety of experience in the restaurant business; he’s been in the public, private, and private-equity ownership and what he realized was that the key to success, regardless of the type of the business, was having quality food and service. This is what he was determined to deliver, and I think it’s safe to say that he succeeded.
This coffee shop was inspired by West Coast concepts – “larger coffeehouses, coffee/bartender dual responsibilities, fresh-baked bread, artisan toasts, specialty sandwiches, and adequate work and meeting space to capitalize on today’s mobile workforce”.
Bob’s favorite item on the menu? Spicy Eggs in Jail – a crossover between toast and eggs benedict with a spicy kick of jalapenos, guajillo sauce, and spicy cilantro sauce.
Look out for their new location in Ft. Worth!
The Little Things of Toasted
Restaurants with changing seasonal specials Variety of latte flavors Coffee shop with a large working space Coffee shop with plenty of outlets Taking a sip of hot coffee on a cold day
WHAT WE ORDERED:
Little House on the Mary – This is their version of the Bloody Mary (you can ask for it spicy!). One of the better Bloody Mary’s around town! 4/5
Latte – If you know me, you know I love myself a good flavored latte and Toasted brings it with all their different flavors – caramel, maple, vanilla, hazelnut, mocha, lavender, cardamom rose, and peppermint! However, I was not impressed with the matcha latte.
Eggs in Jail – a cross over between eggs benedict and toast! I recommend ordering it spicy! 3.5/5
Mozza Mia Toast – Basically a bruschetta toast with cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, and balsamic oil. Unfortunately, this toast didn’t really hit the spot for me and I think I would rather eat a bruschetta but I think this should be ordered with a thinner toast. 3/5
Smokey the Salmon Toast – Smoked salmon lox, mango habanero cream cheese, and cucmbers. 4/5
