When you use cardboard scraps in lieu of little dowels to start your backstrap rigid heddle weaving and realize you should probably provide something a little nicer for your Page School class. Hence, printing 20 wood filament popsicle sticks.

Did I resist the urge to buy purple linen to make a MoY dress to wear at the two events where I’m running youth activities?
No.
But did I resist the urge to impulse buy some white and lilac herringbone wool to make a MoY apron dress to go over that dress?
Also no.
But did I back away from Etsy and successfully not purchase beads specifically to make coordinated festoons for my new MoY ensemble?
Still no.
But have I started any of these projects yet?
Um. The events aren’t until Sept & Nov, and I have plenty of time?? Right?

Rigid heddle kits for a youth class at Royal University of Meridies (RUM) next month. All 3d printed. The bag clip is a cheap and easy alternative to a bandlock.

Honestly, look into historical reenactment groups, too. SCA is a big one in the US, but lots of them in the UK/Europe specializing in various periods. I’ve learned a lot of practical skills that don’t rely on contemporary technology. I know people who can make clothing from sheep to spinnining wool to weaving fabric to sewing the garments to washing with homemade soap to storing in baskets they also wove themselves (from the original plant matter to finished basket).
Why do my interests in canning, couponing, and homesteading overlap so often with blogs with titles like ‘The Obedient Housewife’?

Despite having to leave early due to migraine AND discovering I was covered in baby ticks, I did have a nice time at Meridies Artsy Crown. Also set up and broke down my campsite fully independently!

I had to leave Meridies Crown Lyst early due to a migraine (didn’t stay hydrated enough, I think) but was there to offer assistance for youth activities (I’m officially background checked, which means officially Deputy MoY for our Shire). Mistress Jane and Lady Liv led the kids in shield making and a field day (with some lovely knights and squires competing against the kids). I also tried a new hairstyle (yay!) and got bitten by 5 tiny baby ticks (boo!) prior to the migraine taking me out. Next up: get rigid heddle Page School class ready for RUM!

Also look at my pretty forged needle from Firewood Workshop! I have them in steel and brass and they live in my viking needle case (if I can find the damned thing!)

Still felling seams, though I’m down to just the inside of the side gore seams! I still need to weave or buy some tablet woven trim.

Blue glass beads from the Late Bronze Age, found in 1885 when a Danish farmer ploughed up a cremation urn at Kongehøj. Made in Mesopotamia approximately 3,100 years ago, they offer evidence of long-distance trade connections in the prehistoric world.
