The Wooden Overcoats live show was wonderful! I wasn’t sure how it would go because it jumps back to the timeline between seasons two and three, but it was great! One of my favorite bits that can happen with a live show of this nature is when they have one actor playing multiple characters on stage at once, and I loved that! I had only just finished a relisten of the whole show when I found out this was going to be a thing, so the timing could not have been better!

Just watched the Wolf 359 Ten-Year Reunion panel (unfortunately had to stream, but I would have loved to be there in person) and it was wonderful! I wish it would have been longer because there was so much more I wanted them to talk about, but you get what you can with a panel like that. I love Maxwell so much, so it would have been great to get more speculation from the writers (as well as Michele Agresti) speculating what would have happened if Maxwell hadn’t died. One of the three fan fictions I have ever written was a sort of thing where Maxwell’s brain got wired into the Hephaestus using the chair meant for Hilbert (possibly post-massive-head-trauma because it’s sci-fi, so why shouldn’t it work on a dead body? Ignoring that her brain would not exactly be in a state for machinery to extract her memories, of course…), so that she is able to come in and talk to Hera during the fight in Eiffel’s head. It was fun to write. Not my best work, but what fan fiction is?
Anyway, time for the Wooden Overcoats panel, and I’m hella excited for it!

Finally done with Wolf 359 characters’ daemons! P.S.: I know that humming-birbs are tiny, but so is Hera, my smol child

Not to reinvent the wheel over here but humanity is sooo right about tea. It really is the perfect finnicky little thing to do. You can use it as an excuse to get up and transition to the next thing for yourself or with others; you can use tea as the centerpiece for socializing; you can use it as a meditative device or a comfort ritual or as medicine or to soothe pain or to set intentions or go to bed or to wake up. And most tea is pretty inexpensive, healthy and sometimes you can just harvest the ingredients yourself. And there's a set amount of time it takes to heat up the water and prepare your cup and let it steep, which is all part of a ritual that makes it fast but not instantaneous which is. Good.

been saying this for years but I hate how ubiquitous "low fat" "no fat" "low calories" etc shit is in stores. I do not want your no fat 0 calorie yogurt, what a waste of money! give me full fat yogurt! extra fat! 1000 calories yogurt so I can meet my daily needs. stop taking the nutrients and shit out of food, that's literally half the point of food. why do so many food companies hate food.
#Low-calorie soup is a snack#Not a meal#I will die on this hill#Probably of malnutrition because of all this low-calorie bullshit

So glad someone else put it into words well enough that I don’t feel the need to do it myself!
I will add, I'm very optimistic and excited for C4 and the broad strokes we know about it so far, but even if C4 in the end turns out to be similarly mid and unimpressive, I very much still intend to defend this as a production decision and creative management direction with my life, even if I end up lukewarm and critical of the story and work itself on its own creative and narrative merits. These are very much separate things, and I am already supportive of this from the perspective of managing the body of work and its creatives and will always continue to be.
It's really valuable to me that, when they felt that Matt needed a breather from GMing, they structured their next long-form campaign to allow for that. Brennan also said that he is taking the reins for a bit so that others "can tend to all of these astounding endeavors that they have going on", and building that kind of space for members of the production is important. As someone invested in their overall body of work and in how it develops, this is valuable and encouraging to me.
On top of that, that they are trying something even slightly new — even if it's potentially alienating — after ten years of the same exact mixture is promising. They need to start branching out, especially in cast, to sustain their body of work over time, but their interest in branching out beyond Exandria for more extended periods of time is also promising from a creative standpoint. This kind of foray is critical to the continued development and sustainability of this production as a whole, and that they're working on it at this juncture, where it is becoming increasingly necessary as they continue to rapidly grow and expand and as the production hits ten years, is heartening.
Even if in time I find that C4 is messy, narratively weak, muddled, underbaked, whatever I might feel a year from now, from a production standpoint and a creative experiment view, I'm fully in support and will remain to be.

I heard the most batshit insane “hot take” at work from a coworker. Union contract negotiations are currently taking place (but this is America, so the union SUCKS and they don’t even try to improve the lives of workers, which makes it so hard to stay pro-union at my core, but I do it anyway), and a coworker who is going to retire in a month from now (meaning no matter what happens in the contract, it will not affect him because it does not go into effect until AT LEAST the new year, possibly later, so my hope is that the vote doesn’t happen until after he is gone) insisted that they absolutely should NOT raise our pay in the new contract and we should stay at exactly the same dollar amount we are at right now for the next five years despite the skyrocketing cost of living.
His logic? “Nobody ever actually makes more money after getting a raise! They just show up to work less and make the same as before! I know it because I’ve seen it!”
This man has told me that he was a manager at exactly one company before. One. I don’t care if that happened one time; that does not make it universal truth. The bad logic was infuriating, and I told him (aside from being statistically and logically wrong and wholly uninformed) that I have been a manager in four different companies and never once have I seen that happen. He said I was wrong, but that’s okay because he’s going to die within like a year after he retires anyway, I guess.
Anyway, the baffling “hot takes” got worse when he said the only way to make sure people show up to work is by paying them just enough to get by and live paycheck-to-paycheck so they cannot afford to not be at work every single day. Aside from how vile and disgusting a concept that is, I will never fault a person for wanting more time for life rather than devoting every part of their being to a shitty job they hate and then going home just to eat and sleep and get right back to work again the next day and groveling and begging for a single day off for a doctor’s appointment. Who the fuck wants to live life that way or thinks it is worth living that way? Anyway, as much as I don’t wish death on people, I am glad his generation is dying out. I understand he is not representative of everyone his age, far from it! But all his backwards reasoning and illogical ideas are much more common with people his age than in the younger generations.

Even if they could vote to legalize serial killing, there would still need to be a bill, ordinance, candidate, or something in place to vote ON proposing making serial killing legal. There will (with about as much certainty as I can possibly have) never be an opportunity to vote to legalize serial killing, so in a literal sense, yes, the worst thing they can possibly do with a vote is probably voting republican, which isn’t a good enough reason to deny the right to vote even though I absolutely want the republicans to lose the vote. (At least for now, it should go without saying. Who can say how party positions will change over the years?)

This is way off blog topic but I'd like to try more sweets (desserts, candies/lollies, snacks, etc) from around the world. But in order to find or try make them, I need to know they exist. So, what would you all recommend? My only condition is that I don't like licorice flavour. Assume I'm not from your country and live under a rock (this applies to Americans also).

A heavily underutilised aspect of the digital landscape is the ability to send someone a .zip care package featuring a few podcasts, a handful of indie ttrpgs, a couple webcomics, a digital mixtape, and the .epub or .pdf for some book nobody's ever heard of.

You’re very involved in the podcast community, obviously. Do you know of any accounts that regularly post about podcast auditions currently taking place? I keep seeing closed auditions for things I would have loved to audition for but just happened to miss the one or two posts they made about auditions opening.
@audioauditions is the only one I'm aware of. I also keep a tag for casting calls [#casting call] but that assumes I've found them and they haven't gotten lost in everything else.
I think there are some specific websites for this as well that are more thorough, but I actually don't know what they are.
Wish I could be of more help. Maybe some other community members can give anon a hand?
