Have you ever wished you could read your favourite book for the first time again. Sometimes having bad memory is a good thing. When I was re-reading Blue Lily Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater it genuinely felt like I was reading it for the first time. Sometimes having a shit memory is a good thing I guess. As I read I kept getting surprised by things I've forgotten.

This book kinda hit me in the feels and not even because of Gansey and Blue (or Adam and Ronan) but because of Blue and Maura. At the beginning of the book when Blue didn't know whether to feel worried and scared or angry. When all of them were in Cabeswater and Blue was watching Aurora and Matthew chat and she was thinking how Aurora would never abandon her children😭😭😭

Mother-daughter relationships in media mean so much to me because I love my own mother so much and I can't imagine going through what Blue was experiencing. She couldn't even celebrate her birthday properly </3

Blue and Gansey have my heart! Late night telephone talks, secretly touching hands even just for a moment, her giving him her yoghurt leftovers, him being deathly worried about her when nobody knew where she went, them going for a drive looking over the mountains needing so badly to kiss knowing they cant (that last part might have been in the second book but I'm gonna leave it here anyway). The fucking yearning had my heart clutching trying to kill me. Every subtle little moment they had with each other. And on top of all keeping it a secret!

We also need to talk about Noah. I felt so bad for him. I don't know what was happening with the ley line to make him act out in such a way (must have been something with the three sleepers) [yep it was] but when Blue pulled the plug I just fell into a hole and felt the despair he felt. But when he was normal and in control he was so important. Like when he went to school with Blue when the rest were exploring or when Adam and Ronan were out at the barns and Gansey was alone in Monmouth and Noah told him that he was allowed to like Blue and shouldn't feel guilt for being happy. It's like he can see right into your mind and knows exactly what to say to comfort you.

Ronan and Adam?? Them going on their little unofficial dates to the Barns and the grocery store! Nothing romantic has even happened yet but I could just feel it coming through the pages between the lines. I can't wait for them to actually get together in the fourth book.

I was sobbing during the last 100 pages. Even though I knew Persephone dies for whatever reason tears were shed. And my book is forever stained with them. There must something about knowing it's about to happen that sets you off. There must be. Once again I cried when Blue and Maura were reunited. It was so hard because they couldn't even do anything until they got out of the cave because of that door. And Blue having to tie up Maura to prevent her from opening them.

Oh my god and when Adam was in front of the convenience store talking to his hallucinations of Persephone and she said she thought Adam was going to replace one of the three psychics in 300 Fox Way I thought she meant Maura but then I remembered Persephone dies in the book and that made me realise she meant herself. And the fact that Blue tied Maura up with the sweater Persephone made. Persephone must have sacrificed herself so Maura could be found. I can't deal with this. I'll definitely need therapy after this book because it ruined me. In the best way possible.

Also Chainsaw horking down a hot dog made me giggle uncontrollably in the middle of the night xd.

Lovie Simone as Blue Sargent:

Like I expected, finding someone for Blue was extremely difficult, actually, casting anyone in the Gangsey has been proving to be quite a nightmare. When it came to my favorite non-psychic tho, I was stuck with a few actresses that for some reason or other I just couldn't pick for good. Obviously, Simone came out victorious here and that happened for a couple of reasons: First, she is close to Blue's age, her appearence not only matches with what I imagined Blue to look like, but also seems like a great mix of my Maura and my Artemus fancast (jackpot!) and lastly, but not less important, from what I could see she has some mad talent, even showing up in Greenleaf, you know, Oprah's series, no big deal.

Retta as Jimi Sargent:

I know Retta is mostly known for comedy roles, but just watch Good Girls and you will see the amazing range this woman has. Like, seriously, she easily became one of my favorites on that show (tho I haven't finished yet). I picked her because like with Jimi there is something about her that is welcoming, safe and you can just tell that she would do a good job. However, Jimi is another character I wanna know more about, all we know is that she is gentle, the little teaser of the story about her puching Calla was the only indication that there was more to her and I really want to know that side.

Savannah Lee Smith as Orla Sargent:

Once again we have someone we don't know much about and I would like to see more of Orla outside of her flirty side, maybe explore her relationship with the other women from the house, her psychic gifts and so on. I haven't watched the new Gossip Girl (didn't even watch the original to be honest) but Savannah seems to be a solid actress, the closest one that I could find for the image I had from Orla and I believe she could do a good job here.

Humans were so circular; they lived the same slow cycles of joy and misery over and over, never learning. Every lesson in the universe had to be taught billions of times, and it never stuck. Maybe it was good that the world forgot every lesson, every good and bad memory, every triumph and failure, all of it dying with each generation. Perhaps this cultural amnesia spared them all. Perhaps if they remembered everything, hope would die instead.
