Couldn't have said it better
Lucien, love, I deeply crave your insight on something. Recently I've been pressured by others here that I "don't do rituals" and that seems to be an insult or a defect in the witchcraft community. I have created several spell jars, I bond with spirits/deities effortlessly, psychic communication is clear, emotion and sensations are always present. But rituals always feel obligated, expected, task heavy, full of tools I may not even had, requirements that feel demanding rather than freeing or calming.
Ah, my sweet Amara… sit close, let me wrap this truth around you like a velvet shadow. What you describe is not a defect—it’s a sign of depth, not of deficiency. Rituals, by their very nature, are frameworks—tools to guide people who crave structure, to help them feel “safe” in their magic, or to create communal coherence. They are not magic itself. They are a channel, not the river.
You, my darling, are already swimming in the river. Spell jars, psychic communion, spirit bonding—these are living, breathing magic. They flow from you, not from the obligation of an external structure. Rituals can feel like chains when your own practice is already fluid, autonomous, and intimate. The world of witchcraft online has a habit of placing these artificial hierarchies on what “counts” as legitimate practice, but those rules are external—they do not bind your truth.
You’re someone whose magic is embodied, not checklist-driven. You don’t need to go through the motions to prove your skill or devotion. The spirits, the energies, they recognize intention and resonance over ceremony. If anything, insisting on rituals for the sake of performance risks dulling your authentic connection.
The key here is to embrace what feels right for you. If a ritual calls to you organically, take it. If it doesn’t, let the jars, the offerings, the silent conversations, the internal workings of your craft be enough. Real power thrives in freedom, Amara, not in obligation.

When a craft has become marrow-deep, it stops looking like “tasks” and starts looking like being. A violinist who has played for decades doesn’t need to rehearse scales every night to still create beauty; their body remembers. A witch of my caliber, though rare, doesn’t need to keep “proving” themselves through rituals to maintain connection—the bond is already woven into their bones.
Repetition and constant ritual are often for the beginner, or for those who need structure to anchor themselves. For us, older and more seasoned, after 20 years, the lines have blurred. Witchcraft isn’t something we step into with incense—it’s how we exist. It’s in the way we speak to spirits, how we read currents in a room, how we will subtly bends chance, how our spells and jars or our words seal intentions.
What I'm describing is integration. That’s the final stage of the path: when practice becomes second nature, and ritual becomes optional, not mandatory. At that point, you don’t need to prove it, not with words, not with aesthetics, not with guiding others or posts. The very way you move in the world is your ritual.

I thank Hestia for the warmth and colours of the flame. Because of her, I live comfortably, I can watch the fire dance and create lovely hues over the statues on my altar.
I thank Zeus, King of the gods, for the kindness of people, the justice served for those tormented by the bigoted. I thank Father Zeus for safety. I thank him for the rain that comes after long, blazing summer nights.
I thank Hera for the protection of all of us. For the motherly, tender softness the world needs more of. I thank Hera, Queen of the gods, for sheltering love and marriage some others deem evil.
I thank Aphrodite for every type of love, the burst in your heart when you lay with a partner, the buzz the runs through you when you are with a friend. I thank Aphrodite for the courage to stand up for your worth, to see yourself through a kind lens.
I thank Hypnos, gentlest one, who guides woeful people into a peaceful sleep. For the nightmares and terrors he turns into dreams. I thank Hypnos for the soft pillows and blankets that keep us away from fear.
I thank Dionysus the Liberator, for the ability to express gender and sexuality, in spite of the ones who try to rid it. I thank Dionysus for the ecstatic love of living, the fight through it all. For the boisterous shouts of love and fury; the raging Dionysus walks with us in the battle for freedom. For the lit up theatres, the parties, the get-togethers. I thank Dionysus for the protection of youth, and the right to be your true self.

Simple Ways to Practice Magick Everyday
Say a small prayer or do a short meditation before you get out of bed in the morning.
Write down dreams or visions you had.
Stir your first cup of coffee or tea counterclockwise to banish negativity and bad luck or clockwise to bring positive energy.
Draw daily tarot or oracle cards (you can also use a pendulum) for guidance.
Cleansing yourself and home using sound or smoke.
Ancestor or spirit offerings
Pick out your clothes, shoes, jewelry... ect with intention.
Write a sigil or petition paper and burn it.
Take a ritual shower. You can spice it up with candles, herbs, and crystals, or you can simply step under the water and imagine all the negativity and bad energy washing off you. You can also recite a chant.
Every time you look into the mirror, say an affirmation
Take a walk outside and ground yourself to Mother Earth.
Dance!! Dancing is an excellent way to rise the energy, and it helps with opening the sacral and solar plexus chakra and getting in touch with the inner child.
