Learning that people hate Vander is upsetting. What is with this fandom hating and crucifying all the protagonists but deifying and glazing all the antagonists? Like to people who never watched Arcane, Mel must seem like this racial trope of the Jezebel. Vander and Vi are these class traitorous bootlickers. Jayce is an idiot who had no thoughts or wants of his owns and his whole world revolves around Viktor. Caitlyn is the anti-Christ. Ugggh, yall gross.

Both Social Security and Climate Change as problems are identical in that we have the means to solve them but those means require Poltitical action. The problem is not the economics or technological, we can make the numbers add up and solving the problems would be enormously beneficial but rather we just lack the collective will to do it.

You know, I kinda think that many years of aggressively pointing out how bad climate change was going to be, with the very good intention of trying to get people to act to save themselves, had the terrible effect of convincing many people that there was no hope, that life is miserable now and will only get worse, and that there is nothing to be done about it.

And I see the same thing when it comes to Social Security. There was so many people who understand that the program is not on solid financial footing within the near-ish future. But they also think nothing can be done about it. I have told multiple people, in response to their declarations of irreparable catastrophe, that we could, you know, fix the program, and they act like I am suggesting we turn the moon into face cream.

Did everyone really just decide that problems cannot be solved? That you’ve got to just sit there and take it? If a bus is driving straight at you from a half mile away, do you just stand in the road and shrug?

The other night husband and I were watching a documentary about the yeti where they were doing DNA analysis of samples of supposed yeti fur, and every one of them came back as bears.

Anyway, the next night we watched a thing about some pig man who is supposed to live in Vermont. People said it had claws and a pig nose but walked upright like a man. Now, I happen to know that sideshows used to shave bears and present them as pig men. So every piece of evidence they gave of this monster sounds to me like a bear with mange.

So now the running joke in our house is that everything is bears. Aliens? Bears. Loch Ness monster? Bear. Every cryptozoological mystery is just a very crafty bear.

Bears. They’re everywhere. Be wary. Anyone or anything could be a bear.
