Heres some of chp 2 of The Viper's Kiss (unedited. also i'm stuck now)
Twenty minutes later and two or three drinks in a commotion drew Sebastian’s attention away from the charming brunette he’d been flirting with. The man who had been harassing the girl earlier had stumbled back into the bar. But this time he wasn’t yelling. He was gagging.  Sebastian turned sharply just in time to see the man crash to his knees, hands trembling as they clawed at his shirt. His veins were standing out on his neck, flushed with sudden color although his lips were blue. He pointed one shaking accusing finger at Adelia before he hit the floor.  The girl next to him screamed, her glass shattering to the floor.   Adelia didn’t even flinch. She picked up her wineglass and sipped delicately as if someone hadn’t just died in the middle of her bar.  “You know what to do boys,” she said but it wasn’t even needed.   Ominis was already moving, calmly taking the brunette's hand and escorting her away.  Garreth raised his glass lazily, “To vermin” he toasted before clinking his glass against Ominis’s and downing it. He then got to his feet and hauled the man over his shoulder, heading out a back door.  Although there was initial surprise the rest of the bar soon returned to normal as if nothing had happened. As if this was a normal occurrence and simple protocol.  But Sebastian was still staring at where the body had laid.

I haven't been writing a ton for HL but!! I am working on a Marvel oc and wrote a bit of his backstory!
Meet Dakota Reeves!
Dakota Silas Reeves grew up barely scraping by with his mother, Molly, and older sister, Stephanie, in a cramped downtown apartment. His mom worked herself to the bone to keep the lights on, hardly having a moment to herself while working two jobs and raising them by herself. Stephanie, seven years older than Koda, practically raised him while juggling her own dreams.
From a young age, Dakota threw himself into school, desperate to become someone who could provide for them. But being a “good kid,” a “smart kid,” didn't change the fact that they were poor. Rent was almost always late, the power got shut off more than once, the fridge always half empty. So naturally, he found his own ways to help out.
He learned the alleys, the abandoned buildings and subway tunnels that always were ripe with freshly dumped trash. One man's trash is another's treasure, they say. And boy was Dakota a pirate. He'd find broken electronics, scrap metals, old batteries, anything he could fix or resell for a few bucks.
It had its share of dangers, he ran from muggers, cops, older kids who wanted to seem bigger than they were, but he never thought anything would truly happen to him.
How naive.

CHP 1: The Snake in the Garden
Sebastian Sallow had heard of the Viper bar before. It was surrounded by mystery and rumors of missing people but it didn’t stop people from visiting. Sebastian had made it his goal to explore all the mysterious and dark places he could find and this one had been on top of his list forever. However, it was near impossible to find. He had checked all the alleyways, all the back corners, and had found other hidden bars disguised as anything else but what they were—some only accessible when listening for a secret code, yet it was common street knowledge.
When asked about the Viper, the people of Paris would only say it was bad news or smile secretly, eyes twinkling, and go on their way. Perhaps it was his brogue accent, but he couldn’t bloody well help that he was Scottish and didn’t have their smooth and soft tones. Or maybe it’s because he rode a motorcycle and wore a leather jacket instead of their uptight high fashion. Whatever it was, Sebastian was beginning to think he’d never find it—until he ran into a couple of lads on their way there.
He overheard them at first, and what drew his attention was that they, as well, were not from Paris. One was a flaming redhead, his curly hair pulled back in a man bun tied with a satin green ribbon. All sorts of bangles hung on his tan arms, and he wore a kilt of all things. The other was in a light blue and white suit that brought out his sapphire eyes and made his golden hair seem to shine more than it already did in the late evening sun.
The Scottish and high British accents did not fit in among the rest, especially with how loud the redhead was talking about the very bar he had so longed to find.
“There is supposed to be a party there tonight and I’m not missing that, especially when it gives me a chance to pull out the new brews that I’ve been trying. Addie won’t tell me what time though, which is a bit infuriating, but she must have a pretty good reason for it. I never question her decisions. This will be the first time I’ve seen her in a while because business has been heavy, she says. She also likes to lay low and I tend to be—”
“The center of attention? The explosive personality?” the blonde said dryly, twirling his cane between his fingers like it was a baton. He almost looked like he could tap dance, and the thought made Sebastian snort, making them aware that he was eavesdropping from where he leaned against the tree they were under.
While the redhead spun around, nearly climbing over the back of the bench, the blonde just sighed bitterly, unimpressed.
“Do you take pleasure in interrupting people’s private conversations or are you just so boring you couldn’t find something to do anywhere else?”
Sebastian flushed, pushing off the tree and running a hand through his messy curls.
“Well, I wouldn’t say that I always take pleasure in interrupting conversations, but being an honest bloke I will say I enjoyed interrupting this one.” He smirked. “Because coincidence is so strange—or could it be fate? Why else, on the day that I was planning to give up forever on trying to find the Viper, would I happen to run into you two?”
“Well, fate must be on your side then, mate! Because I know more about the Viper than anyone,” the redhead said, slapping him on the back. “The name’s Garreth. What’s yours?”
“Sebastian. Nice to meet you, Garreth,” Sebastian grinned, wrapping an arm around his shoulders as if they were old pals. He then turned to where the other man had now risen to his feet, listening to them talk with a slightly tilted head.
“And you are?”
“Ominis Gaunt. And before you ask, yes I am blind and yes I can also whip you if you mess around.”
“Point taken.” Sebastian laughed, holding out a hand. “Pleased to make your acquaintance."
Ominis hesitated a moment before taking it, his grip firm.
“Pleased to meet you as well, Sebastian…?”
“Sallow. The name’s Sallow.”
***
Sebastian would’ve laughed if he wasn’t so surprised at how easily the Viper could be found- once you knew where to look.
The entrance was hidden in the base of a statue of a man taming a serpent, right in the middle of the gardens at the Museum of Natural History. Many people flocked to it, girls on the arms of their men, all dressed to the tee in their finery. Most needed to know a code, though no one could say how it was learned.
Yet Ominis simply hissed at it and the serpent coiled as if coming to life, revealing a hidden door in the base that led down below.
As they made their way down the spiraling steps, muffled music drifted up to them—the sound of laughter and clinking glasses mixed in. It was dark, but full of finery. Green wallpaper with vines of red trailing through them, serpents curling through the designs with flicking tongues. Pieces of artwork hung on the walls, black ink sketches, some dream-like and messy, others startlingly realistic.
Candles flickered on the tables, wax dripping down onto their ornate bases. The lighting was dim, golden and enchanting. The smell of cigarette smoke lingered in the air.
Green and red velvet love seats with gold frames lined the corners. Dark green leather bar stools lined a gleaming black quartz countertop beneath low hanging chandeliers.
Ominis and Garreth headed straight to the bar. Sebastian’s eyes briefly scanned the many bottles lining the mahogany shelves before settling on the woman behind the counter.
Her pale, elegant hands were encased in thin lace gloves, mixing and pouring drinks with effortless grace like a dancer. His eyes followed the curve of her arms, the shape of her figure in a high-slit emerald dress that hugged her form. Blonde hair spilled over her shoulders, and the scent of vanilla and apples clung to the air around her. Her vivid green eyes lifted lazily to scan them, and a slow smile curved her lips, showing her pleasure.
“Bonjour, mon amours,” she purred, holding out a hand, which Ominis took and kissed lightly.
“Greetings, darling. How are you this evening?” A rare smile graced his lips at her voice.
“Just fine. I have your drinks all ready for you. A neat whiskey for you, Ominis, and your favorite wild cocktail, Gar Bear,” she said with a lilting French accent, placing a glass in his hand with practiced ease.
“Thanks, cupcake,” Garreth said, pressing a kiss to her cheek before downing a fiery red concoction that smelled slightly of cinnamon and firewhisky. He burped loudly after.
Ominis grimaced but couldn’t help but laugh slightly at his friend's behavior. “Yes, thank you, my sweet. You are always so prepared.”
“I aim to do my best, that is all.” She said calmly but a bit of pink tinted her cheeks.
Sebastian cleared his throat and her eyes snapped to him, scanning him up and down.
“And who is this?” her voice had lost its warmth and was a slight colder, as if calculating.
“A new friend.” Garreth said, patting him on the back. “Meet Sebastian Sallow. He’s been looking to meet you isn’t that right mate?”
“Looking to meet me, hmm?” She leaned forward on her elbows and Sebastian had to force himself to keep his eyes on her face, which was only a breath away now. “And why is that?”
Sebastian pulled himself together and leaned the rest of the way forward to meet her. “Cause I wanted to experience your legendary service for myself, love. Couldn’t pass up the opportunity.” He smirked, when she pulled back slightly.
Her smile didn’t return right away.
***
Instead she studied him, really hard as if she could see into his soul. As if deciding if he was worth keeping or throwing away. You could even say like a piece of meat. It scared him.
Then the smile slowly slithered back onto her face and it wasn’t friendly.
It was…hungry.
Fire under ice.
“Is that so, Monsieur Sallow?” she hummed, fingers wrapping around a crystal glass that she brought to her lips slowly, watching how his eyes traced her tongue as it licked the liquid off.
“Then perhaps I’ll prepare something special for you. What do you say boys?” She said tilting her head towards the other men who were watching and listening to everything carefully.
Without even giving them the chance to answer she made up her mind, her hair spinning like silken gold over her shoulder. Her hands moved with fluid confidence as she reached for a bottle of amaretto from the top shelf- its label dusty and unbranded. Suspicious if you looked close enough. And Sebastian was watching, something twisting in his stomach, a warning.
Garreth let out a low whistle. “You’re getting the royal treatment, mate.”
Ominis just sipped his drink.
“Careful,” he murmured. “She doesn’t pour that bottle often.”
“Why?” Sebastian asked, his thick brows furrowing in confusion and worry.
Ominis merely smiled. “Because most men can’t handle what’s inside.”
She returned with a glass in hand, a dark warm colored liquid swirling inside, the scent of almonds wafting upwards, in a menacing invitation.
“Drink,” she said, sliding it across to him with a single black gloved finger. “If you trust me.”
There was a moment he almost thought against it- just a flicker where he could’ve said no. He could have stepped back, laughed it off and left.
But Sebastian had never been good at walking away from danger. Especially when he came to seek it out in the first place. And found temptation clothed in lace and perfume, in a garden.
So he raised the glass to his lips- because danger had never looked so lovely

Hey, man, c'mere. Listen. Get in real close, this is important.
You're gonna make stuff again. You're gonna make stuff you're proud of. You're gonna make stuff you're excited to share. You're going to feel that overwhelming drive to create, not just the frantic I want to want to you're stuck in now. You're going to have awesome ideas, and you're going to make them into reality. You're going to create again. You're still an artist. You're still a writer. You're still home to the same passion you had before. You'll find it again. It's not gone. It's just resting. Let it rest. You're going to make stuff again. I promise.
