First and foremost, using the Heritage foundation as a source is a bad idea. They're the same people who wrote Project 2025.
Tumblr media
And if you want to believe that they were being fully honest about their results, I have some bad news for you. When conducting this study, they didn't use the family's individual income, no they used the median income for the area that they lived in.
So even if a recruits family from San Diego made 25,000 a year, the heritage foundation declared that the recruits family made 57,380 a year instead because that's the median income in that area.
Basically if you use an area's median income for every single recruit, that's inevitably going to report results that show a middle class leaning.
Tumblr media
Onto your screenshot which states that these enlistees come from neighborhoods where the "median income is between $38,345 and $80,912." That range is so wide, and there are so many variables to what makes someone middle class, that you can barely use that as evidence! For a single child living with two adults, the minimum you have to make to qualify as middle class is $60,000, and that's far above the low range of that 60% estimate. And the qualifying income for being middle class just gets higher with more additional family members. So already, that puts a large chunk of that 60% figure in the lower class!
Tumblr media
Your other sources just state that those who join the military tend to have family members who did as well. You realize that's because poverty is generational, right? These families likely don't have the generational wealth, resources or knowledge to explore other opportunities.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find a whole lot of sources that give more specific information on the income of enlistees, however, if we look at the poverty distribution map and military enlisting map, we can see a pretty telling pattern
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The racial demographics of the military also tells a certain story
Tumblr media
Of course, neither of these points are necessarily conclusive evidence, as there's not a reliable study that draws a conclusion one way or another, but judging by the fact that a large number of recruits are from lower income areas and are POC, we can infer that the majority of recruits are most likely lower class.
Due to all of these moving factors, to generalize this group of people is frankly, dangerous. Some of these people want to do harm, some of them are victims of a society that failed them and some of them are just normal people who joined regardless of the horrid moral implications.
You can't declare every enlistee is an innocent victim, and you can't declare they're all bloodthirsty imperialists. It's a complex issue that, unfortunately, can't be digested in a palatable "I hate them or adore them" manner. It needs to be judged case by case.
you hate usa military because soldiers didn't get enough benefits for being colonizers. i hate usa military soldiers because they're colonizers. we're not the same.

the earthquake that struck afghanistan and killed more than a thousand and estranged many more is getting little to no media coverage. it’s ridiculous to think about how the world would’ve reacted if that same calamity were to hit a western nation. please pray for the oppressed whose voice is never loud enough to be heard.

🌟 I’m pleased to  unveil my latest piece, Les Jardins de Nuit (Night’s Gardens). This piece is part of a series I started with « The Rise ». When I met Psyche, we wrote a short story called Night and Dawn. Les Jardins de Nuit is an allegory of the gardens in the mind of Psyche (Night). I like to imagine that each of us could be represented by an enigmatic landscape. An entire universe as a mirror of our lives, with its trees, its diaphanous temple, its flowers, its ruins, its skies and its path to the stars⭐️.
This piece will be part of the exhibition Midnight Garden, in the Modern Eden Gallery. An international Group Exhibition curated by Beautiful Bizarre Magazine.
We will be releasing a  fine art print enhanced with gold leaf in the coming weeks.
For those of you who participated in my kickstarter campaign, “Les Jardins de Nuit” will be included in all the editions of my artbook Forgotten Gods, and gilded with golden stamping in the Lustratio and Celestial Editions.

But a gay man seeks his history in mythic fragments, random as blocks of stone in the ruins covered in Greek characters. We have the poems of Sappho because the one rolled linen copy stoppered a wine jug in a cave, and the blanks are the words the acid of the wine has eaten away. Fragments are all you get. You jigsaw the rest with your heart.

Please Stop Reblogging Antisemitic Memes!
Unless you’re Jewish you have absolutely no business sharing the the “Most People Rejected His Message” meme. Period.
This includes not reblogging the meme when a Jewish person posts it. If we’re posting it we’re acknowledging and lampooning the antisemitism in the cartoon, even if our post isn’t directly referencing antisemitism in our commentary. That’s not something you can do.
I shouldn’t have to explain how this meme is antisemitic. The Jewish caricatures that are shown shouting “SHUT UP” to Jesus are, to put it lightly, unsubtly antisemitic. You shouldn’t need to have this pointed out to you.
That isn’t by accident.
This comic is designed to engender feelings of hatred towards Jewish people. Its author, Jack Chick, was a fervent antisemite who believed that Jews killed Jesus as part of an evil conspiracy that continues to this very day. This comic is hate speech from beginning to end.
You have no right to turn anti-Jewish violence into a joke.
Copy of the offensive material under the cut in case anyone doesn’t know what I’m talking about:

🏳️‍🌈 Ruth Ellis (1899 - 2000) was the daughter of former slaves. She came out as a lesbian when she was 16-years-old to the complete acceptance of her family. In 1937, Ruth and her longtime partner moved to Detroit from their hometown of Springfield, Illinois for the promise of higher wages. There, she became the first woman in Michigan to run her own printing business. She printed fliers, posters, and stationary in the front room of her home, which also quickly became a hotspot for Black LGBTQ social life. Before long, Ruth was helping those who came around in any way she could, including by paying for college tuitions. After the Stonewall uprising, 70-year-old Ruth began giving speeches in support of gay and lesbian rights all across the country. She remained an activist for the rest of her long life and even spent her 100th birthday leading the San Francisco Dyke March. At the time of her death at 101, she was recognized as the oldest out lesbian in the US. She is the subject of the documentary "Living With Pride: Ruth C. Ellis @ 100" and is the namesake of the Ruth Ellis Center, a shelter for homeless and at-risk LGBTQ youth in Detroit.
Celebrate Ruth Ellis.
