coworkers will have the most heinous conversations in the break room and you just have to sit there and not lose your job about it
#it's awesome when it's something that's flagrantly bigoted or unethical or hazardous#and there's no one to even report it to#because the sup/manager is part of the conversation

i've always been dogshit at pottery on a wheel because i have weak noodle arms and can't hold my hands firmly in place to center the clay but i finally realized the root issue was that my legs are SHORT since i have the limb/torso proportions of a dachshund and i couldn't brace my elbows on my legs, so i put bricks under my feet and now i can sort of do it!! i've tried to learn twice in the past from TALL people but had a revelation when i watched a medium size guy throwing.

The moral of the story is: don't give up, maybe you just need bricks

I think mostly what young fandom types (and I guess younger people in general) who are very very invested in the idea that “20 is still basically a minor” need to understand is that the feeling of “I’m just a child pretending to be an adult, and everyone else around me is a REAL adult” is DEEPLY universal (and won’t stop, ever, by the way, sorry!) and also is not, like, praxis.
Believe me, I get it, but the self-infantilization needs to stop, especially when you’re trying to engage in conversations about actual children and the harms they can face. Yes, it is scary to wake up and realize you’re 22 and you still feel like you’re 15, but it happens to all of us. You’re an adult. You have to deal with it.

slavery is honestly kind of an insulting word to use to describe what white people did to black people in this country and I think it boils it down to something that doesn’t even scratch the surface. You’re not recovering from that and everything that came after in just a few decades. People always want to say well the Chinese Americans and Italians or whoever tf else recovered from their oppression why can’t black people and it’s like just so eye opening to know that so many people cannot fathom what chattel slavery in this country was like. For 400 years. And they spent every year afterwards trying to recreate slavery in a way that was legal. It disgusts me to no end and even black people aren’t exempt from belittling what was done to them.

i told my therapist how dramatically i can react to perceived rejection or slights and her response was essentially "it's okay to be sensitive," which. i feel like we're stretching the definition of the word 'sensitive' here to an insane degree. on an especially bad day i am bathing in battery acid and then embalming myself over a barista setting my cup down too hard or some bullshit what do you MEAN it's okay
#just because i've been functioning this way my entire life does not mean i want to continue!!#but i literally don't know how to stop#i very very rarely react externally but i can die in 42 different ways in my own mind lmao i don't think it matters how visible it is
