Sophia needs more attention
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was bored, I had this joke in my mind where Sophia Greenville didn't have enough attention in the Metal Slug commuity while other Metal Slug female characters such as, "Fio, Eri, Nadia, Leona, and many others" have more attention. Sophia Greenville needs a boyfriend unlike from the Combat School. But for real.
This joke was based on Terminal Lance Marine Corp comic. EXAMPLE: https://terminallance.com/2017/01/17/terminal-lance-453-cease-fire/

Blood type: O-
Weight: 127 lbs. (57 kg)
Design: She’s a 5’ 6” (167.64 cm) American ectomorph with a lean build, broad shoulders, a somewhat curvy chest, a well-defined waist, slim arms and legs, and average musculature. She has creamy white skin, sparkling middle blue green eyes, frown lines, and tear throughs. She has two brownish moles: one in the centre of her right cheek and the second one directly below her chin. She has a hairstyle similar to Sophia from the Metal Slug 3 pachislot, featuring flowy waves and an orangish-blonde hue. She has the exact same scar depicted in a piece of concept art created for Sophia Greenville in Metal Slug.
She wears the exact same uniform as Sophia from the Metal Slug 3 pachislot, along with the same beret as Sophia in Metal Slug: Super Vehicle-001, but its badge is silver-grey. Above her right breast, she has a crimson decorative medal consisting of two chocolate brown squares, each featuring a golden dot in the centre. Above her left breast pocket, there is a gold-outlined blue-grey bar below a circular emerald-hued medal, which displays a gilded longsword with partially closed cream-coloured wings in the centre. The insignia of the Regular Army is emblazoned on her right upper sleeve.
The skirt portion of her uniform features deep pockets and is secured by a leather belt with a gold buckle. She wears black pantyhose and Air Force blue combat boots with black laces, but she occasionally switches them out for a pair of crimson high-heeled pumps. She dons a coral vest with four pockets, featuring the Peregrine Falcons Squad logo embroidered on the back. She also wears a shoulder holster for her AMT AutoMag III, along with a single pouch for a .30 Carbine magazine. She has a silvery whistle hanging from her neck, along with a light grey clipboard that contains personal and work-related observations.
When repairing tanks, she wears the same gloves and work boots and carries the same blue toolbox as mechanic Sophia from Metal Slug 1. She ties her hair into a ponytail with a chamoisee hairband and wears a lavender grey tube bra. She wears a twilight lavender T-shirt, safety eyewear, and lilac coveralls with a cool grey lining. The cuffed sleeves feature a single purple gold button on each cuff. The pants of her coveralls are tucked into her work boots and have two cargo-style pockets.
When cooking, she wears the same apron and chef's hat as Chef Sophia from the SV-001 pachislot. When fishing, she wears the same outfit and carries the same fishing rod as fisher Sophia from Metal Slug 1. She dons lilac cargo shorts, a crimson belt with a silver buckle, and the same work boots as those in her mechanic uniform.
She wears a pair of jawless skull earrings that are pearlescent white, featuring circular emerald-studded eyes and a black nose. She carries a simple dark green case containing black-rimmed eyeglasses, which she often keeps in her pockets. Additionally, she wears sparkly atomic tangerine lipstick and stores it in her pockets. During her duties as a combat instructor, she carries a retractable snow white pointer with a raw umber handle.
Character summary: She's a headstrong and fiercely independent follower of Reform Judaism who believes in Western astrology, claiming to easily guess people's star signs without knowing their birthdays. She always finds it amusing when someone born under a specific star sign doesn't exhibit any of the personality traits typically associated with that sign as she doesn't encounter such individuals very often. She's quite open-minded regarding differing religious beliefs and the views of atheists and agnostics, considering all of them valid. To her, religion has always been interpretative, and it's impossible for everyone to agree on the same beliefs. She's also a big fan of philosophy, particularly the works of influential and controversial figures, finding their unique ideas and ways of thinking to be fascinating. She resonates with much of Immanuel Kant's philosophy, having learned a great deal about epistemology, metaphysics, ethics, and aesthetics while exploring his work.
She frequently declares that she can cook, wash, and clean as well as anyone else, often feeling frustrated with those who expect her to excel at all three tasks simply because she's a woman. Although she's embarrassed to admit that she was once a terrible cook, she recognizes that everyone has to start somewhere. This realisation has shown her that she's always willing to learn and improve herself. Sophia finds great enjoyment in cooking for others, especially the students she trains and the special forces operatives she personally trusts. It's one of her ways of expressing appreciation and genuine care while being generous. However, she often becomes flustered and a bit shy when serving meals she has prepared specifically for them.
Sophia often doesn't have time to read books, but she frequently looks at the morning newspaper. However, there are times when she needs to take a break from it because it's often filled with depressing and exaggerated stories. Her favorite books are Heinlein's Starship Troopers, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and Anne of Green Gables, all of which she read as a young child and later revisited during her older teenage years. Sophia loves to ramble on about these books with anyone who's familiar with them or particularly interested in reading them.
She doesn't like her students calling her by her first name because she believes that, as their combat instructor, she should be addressed with professional respect, rather than being seen as a fellow coworker. She finds it uncomfortable when new recruits suddenly flirt with her by asking personal questions, such as her phone number and vital statistics. Additionally, she dislikes receiving low performance scores because she worries that other combat instructors will laugh at or mock her. She dislikes losing good students and soldiers from the Peregrine Falcons Squad that she has trained on the battlefield as it makes her feel that her teaching efforts are going to waste. She believes that their loss could negatively impact the successful operations of the Regular Army, and it saddens her to think about the lives they could have led outside of military service. She dislikes cowardice, impertinent behavior, mediocrity, and underperformance, seeing them as obstacles to future success and a failure to demonstrate excellence as soldiers.
She sometimes jokingly refers to her best students as volatile and tenacious, always looking forward to their reactions to such comments and finding them amusing. She enjoys joking with colleagues that her hobby is making life miserable for cadets and new recruits. Additionally, she playfully calls older members of the Regular Army as "real live zombies". She isn't fond of people who rudely mess with her and assume that she's stupid. She struggles with stiff shoulders and often asks Fio to massage them or rolls her shoulders herself, but she refuses to talk about the issue.
She believes her job is quite rewarding, though she finds the more challenging and mediocre new recruits to be unnecessarily frustrating. However, she has no complaints when they perform well. For her, it's satisfying to know that she has helped many recruits because she strives to be an excellent combat instructor. She encourages others to hold onto their fighting spirit and advises her best students not to let the others defeat them too easily. Sophia believes that reviewing good records is worthwhile, even though she sometimes finds the process of going over scores to be monotonous. She greatly appreciates strong classes, excellent performances, and high-achieving recruits, which makes her hard work feel rewarding. However, she often worries about her top students and most trusted colleagues, frequently reminding them to be careful and not to push themselves too hard.
She has a habit of evaluating any situation she finds herself in and jotting down her observations on the pages of her clipboard. Although she's not a skilled fisher, that doesn't stop her from having fun and trying to catch bass. She often receives fishing advice from Clark, which she takes to heart, hoping to one day become proficient at catching fish. However, she does know how to prepare delicious seafood meals. She enjoys activities that keep her moving, such as cycling and swimming, as they make her feel invigorated and relaxed. She's attracted to men who are strong and muscular, particularly the kind who would actively protect her. She's not really into makeup because she doesn't care about beauty standards and isn't skilled at applying it.
Sophia feels perfectly comfortable with those she trusts and doesn't find to be annoying when they relax around her during downtime. However, she sometimes comes across as a bit hostile toward unfamiliar people, especially those she finds suspicious. Despite this, she strives to maintain a welcoming and approachable demeanour as she doesn't want to scare off colleagues, cadets, and new recruits. Whenever she's furious, her expression darkens, and a displeased, mean look crosses her face. She often gets annoyed when soldiers disobey orders and act on impulse without thinking things through first. She isn't afraid to be harsh with others, especially if they're getting on her nerves and causing her unnecessary stress. However, Sophia is also willing to forgive, particularly if she feels her harshness and strict attitude have gone too far.
She's a wise, no-nonsense, workaholic leader who strives to remain optimistic like her younger sister, understanding that the world isn't all doom and gloom. While she has a melancholic streak, it only surfaces when she reminisces about the sad moments in her life and the people she dearly misses. She's supportive and always willing to lend a listening ear when needed, often offering heartfelt compliments and advice. Sophia fondly reflects on her three years of trial and error in becoming an effective combat instructor. She takes pride in having developed a guidance policy that motivates and encourages her students while helping them become skilled soldiers, all while maintaining her role as a hardened and stern instructor. According to her, her gentle yet strict approach to training is highly regarded among the Regular Army.
She dearly loves her cat and tries to carve out personal time to spend with her only pet. However, she's often too busy to take a vacation and visit her beloved cat, so she frequently asks her younger sister, who works from home, to babysit. Sophia named her cat Ika, which she pronounces as "e-kah", not "i-kah", and she often has to correct people on that mispronunciation. Ika is a female Ragamuffin with a tuxedo fur coat, yellow-gold eyes, and a coral pink collar featuring a bisected horizontal flame-coloured line.
She met Marco through Colonel Hart, and despite their initially awkward encounter—during which Marco mistakenly believed she was his biological mother—they have developed a cordial relationship. She serves as a maternal figure to Marco, doing her best to provide him with a shoulder to cry on and physical comfort. She treats him like her own son, often complimenting him on his hard work and offering him valuable advice when he's feeling down. She finds it amusing that he often confuses her with his mother, Kharissa, due to their similar physical appearance. However, she doesn't bother to ask about Marco's mother because he refuses to talk about her due to their very strained relationship.
She isn't on very good terms with Margaret and has a bitter rivalry with her, viewing her as a "jealous and haughty slut". She can't stand Margaret's stuck-up and passive-aggressive attitude, which is often directed toward her. Margaret infuriates her, and she actively avoids her, fully aware that she's a nuisance and a waste of valuable time. She knows that her rival is jealous of her because she has the family she has always dreamed of, while Margaret does not. Although she feels slight sympathy for Margaret due to her struggles with loneliness, she still believes that her behaviour is childish and outright inappropriate. She wishes that Margaret could move past her grief, recognize her own faults, and strive for self-improvement.
They often appear to have a healthy and friendly professional relationship with each other when they're collaborating on a teaching lesson for new students. However, behind closed doors, they frequently bicker over Margaret's unprofessional attitude and Sophia's perceived inability to relax and have fun. Sophia has no qualms about physically restraining Margaret from engaging in any behaviour deemed irrational. She isn't afraid to slap or pinch her when Margaret makes the students and trusted coworkers feel uncomfortable. She'll even go as far as to pin her to the ground and twist her arm behind her back, but she ensures that she doesn't break her body. When Sophia is beyond frustrated and blinded by rage, she doesn't hesitate to throw chairs at Margaret.
It's unclear what kind of relationship she has with Tarma, but she's close enough to know his birthday and the traumatic experiences he endured during the Great Morden War. In her free time, she sometimes helps him repair the SV-001 that Marco's team owns, especially when it's severely damaged. They frequently discuss topics related to mechanics, how crazy their week has been, and their future aspirations. While she finds Tarma's random attempts to flirt with women annoying, she can't help but find it oddly amusing when they fail miserably.
Aside from Margaret, she's on fairly good terms with everyone else, even if she finds a few of them to be irritating for various reasons, such as Walter's less-than-stellar intelligence, Gimlet's egregious teasing of the cadets, and Ralf's constant impulsivity.
Backstory: Sophia Greenville-Hartnett was born on August 16, 1991 in Minnesota, United States. She was raised in an upper-middle-class family with a father, Henry Greenville, who was a famous American football commentator, and a mother, Victoria Hartnett, who was a marine technician in the Regular Army's Marine Corps. She has a younger sister named Cynthia, nicknamed Cindy, who's three years younger than her and works from home as a freelance wildlife database developer. As her parents were often busy with the demands of their jobs, Sophia frequently found herself alone to babysit Cynthia and assist her with schoolwork. Not wanting to be a financial burden on her family, she did her best to provide support by mowing her neighbours' lawns and taking care of their pets. Additionally, she explored new activities, ranging from riding a bicycle and joining her school's swimming club to helping her dad fix his old car and cooking simple dishes.
She describes her father as a book-loving man with a sharp wit and a strong passion for comedy, sports, and classic cars. Whenever he had time off work, Henry would spend his free hours fixing his own car or helping his neighbours with their vehicles. She portrays her mother as a love-smothering worrywart who has a deep interest in marine biology and military technology. Victoria often collected rare cookbooks and created paintings of breathtaking ocean scenes. She characterises her younger sister as somewhat internet-savvy, having a tendency to refer to the failures of others as "epic" with a sense of dismay. Cynthia has expressed that she finds the internet and gaming to be acceptable. She's both hardened and optimistic, preferring to speak directly rather than indirectly.
Although their parents are now retired and enjoy a peaceful life as fishers in an old seaside town, she describes them as having been exceptionally skilled in their previous jobs as if they were born for them. Due to their dedication and pride in their work, they somewhat pressured Sophia and Cynthia to follow in their footsteps. However, Cynthia quietly rebelled, developing a passion for technology and wildlife conservation at a young age and choosing to pursue that path instead.
On the other hand, Sophia made every effort to follow in their footsteps. Her passion for sports and the military was ignited by her father's stories of legendary athletes and her mother's accounts of life in the military. As a child, she often accompanied her mother to military events, where she was inspired by the camaraderie and discipline of the service members. She would also occasionally attend American football games at the stadiums where her father worked at, closely observing the movements and tactics used on the field. However, whenever she wasn't busy with school, she frequently watched American sports at home with her younger sister.
Whenever she wasn't selling homemade cookies for school fundraisers to benefit childcare and health services or busy with homework and helping Cynthia with her studies, she participated in various sports offered by the schools she attended. She played baseball, rugby, soccer, tennis, and volleyball, demonstrating excellent adaptability to each sport. In junior high school, she also played football and frisbee, but her dream was to become a professional basketball player. During recess, she often practiced shooting hoops by herself, determined to improve her skills, even though she struggled with her accuracy. One day, a classmate who had recently transferred to her school after getting suspended for standing up to a bully and injuring them took notice of Sophia's solitary basketball sessions and decided to join her, introducing himself as Gavin. She was impressed by how effortlessly he often got the ball into the hoop, and from that day on, they practiced basketball together.
Her practice buddy gradually became her boyfriend, and they frequently hung out after the school sports events she was practicing for. They enjoyed going on dates to the local park during the summer and autumn, cycling together, and taking Gavin's Labrador Retriever for walks. However, their relationship struggled to evolve into something more romantic, as they found themselves stuck in the friend zone. As a result, they ended their romantic relationship on good terms and remained platonic friends. Sophia still occasionally talks to Gavin and goes on nature hikes with him when he's off police duty.
As Gavin helped her improve her basketball skills, his support greatly encouraged her to join the school's basketball practice sessions. She quickly proved herself to be talented, effortlessly keeping up with her classmates who were eager to participate in the big basketball game their school was hosting. When the time finally came, her family attended the game, excited to see her contribute to her team's success and showcase her abilities as an athlete. However, during the game, she suffered a serious injury; her bursa became severely inflamed from overuse, leading to bursitis. This condition made her shoulders feel stiff and caused significant pain, distracting her from focusing on the game. She managed to take only one shot before having to call it quits, and she was subsequently sidelined for months, forcing her to confront her identity beyond athletics. Sophia still looks back on this event with regret because she feels she was unable to adequately prove herself as a talented athlete. She wishes she had taken a few breaks to give her body some much-needed rest.
She wasn't sure if she would be able to join the military as her bursitis was quite severe at the time. To keep things simple and avoid worsening her shoulder condition, she decided to give fishing a try, but she consistently struggled to catch any decent fish. Meanwhile, she finally graduated from high school with high grades and a few scholarships, but she ended up prioritising her recovery before pursuing post-secondary education. During a solitary fishing trip, she met a charming, polite man named Dominic, who shared some tips and tricks for successfully catching fish.
Sophia remembers that on the same day, Dominic caught a bass, making it seem effortless. From that day on, they began dating, and she moved in with him, not wanting to be a financial burden on her parents. Her parents were starting to feel exhausted by her presence and were subtly pressuring her to do something meaningful with her life. She recalls that Cynthia had a bad feeling about Dominic and tried to encourage her older sister to avoid him at all costs. However, she ignored the warning, thinking Cynthia was being unnecessarily paranoid, only to realize later that her sister had been right.
Once she fully moved into Dominic's place and had adjusted to his home for a couple of days, her second boyfriend revealed his true nature. He was abusive and manipulative, trying to make her believe that she couldn't live without him. He would lock her in his basement whenever she tried to resist his affection. Dominic wouldn't let her go, threatening to relentlessly hunt her down and kill her in her sleep if she ever escaped. When he was particularly enraged, he would verbally and physically abuse her, coming close to murdering her on rare occasions. His actions and constant threats instilled a deep fear in her, making her too afraid to go to the police.
One night, after enduring a terrible beating that left her with a facial scar and being confined in the basement, she managed to escape from Dominic's house by opening a small window he had forgotten to lock and squeezing through it. As she walked the streets at night, she desperately searched for a hotel to stay in or a bus or cab that might take her back home. However, when Dominic discovered she was gone, he began hunting her down. While wandering, Sophia encountered a man enjoying a smoke break.
He decided to help her for the night, introducing himself as Milton, a commissioned officer in the Regular Army. He gently treated her wounds, provided her with good food, and listened to her story about her unfortunate experiences with her boyfriend. Once she was fully rested, Milton took her back to her family the next day. As Dominic continued to search for her while evading the police, Milton offered her the opportunity to join the Regular Army, which would provide her with a job and protection. She eagerly accepted the offer and was quickly enrolled in a military academy with Milton's assistance.
She received training for both the Regular Army and the Peregrine Falcons Squad, believing that if one path didn’t work out, she could always pursue the other. During her off days from training, she frequently practiced shooting at the range, quickly excelling in her marksmanship. Her talent in sports helped her graduate as an official member of both the Regular Army and the Peregrine Falcons Squad. Despite her desire to become a special forces operative and bravely fight on the frontlines, she had to abandon that dream when her parents expressed their strong disapproval. They were horrified by the thought of potentially losing her in a brutal battle because she meant the world to them.
Although Sophia desperately wanted to remain in service, she couldn’t help but consider finding a new life purpose. Fortunately, Milton and Cynthia encouraged her to enroll as a combat instructor as the Regular Army was looking to establish a Combat Academy for the Peregrine Falcons Squad. Seeing this as a perfect opportunity to try something new and help others become great soldiers, she enlisted as one of the first combat instructors for the Peregrine Falcons Squad.
As she spent time with Milton, she learned that he was about six years older than she was and came to realize that he genuinely cared about her safety. Out of the blue, she decided to ask him out on a date, and he happily accepted. During their first date, they enjoyed some ice cream and took a peaceful stroll in the park on a lovely summer day. Sophia began to realize that Milton was her ideal man—someone who was willing to protect her at all costs. After three years of dating, they got married and moved to a large house in northern Minnesota. They also had three children, whom she affectionately described as her "gorgeous lil' smart cookies", from oldest to youngest: Bernard, Joan, and Francis.
During the Arms Deal Barrage, it was Margaret's responsibility to serve as Red Eye's mission command due to their S.P.A.R.R.O.W.S. affiliation. However, she neglected this duty to assist Gimlet instead, leaving Sophia to fulfill the role. As Red Eye's mission command, Sophia issued orders she received from Field Marshal Donald Morden, ensuring that objectives were completed successfully. She often found herself frustrated with Red Eye's hotheadedness and her tendency to disregard orders, such as taking the wrong Slug Sub to a Serapion Fellowship base.
Despite this, Sophia was amused by Red Eye's inexplicable good luck, though it didn't stop her from angrily berating her. Sophia was the one who suggested rescuing Colonel O'Connor, an agent for the Intelligence Agency, from the gulag, as he possessed valuable information about Regular Army operations and the current plans of the Serapion Fellowship. She never learned about the Regular Army's corruption, but she found it odd that Red Eye would vaguely describe her discovery of the Serapion Fellowship's illegal weapon trafficking scheme without providing any evidence.
She officially partnered with Margaret for a combat lesson for new recruits of the Peregrine Falcons Squad just before the Great Morden War began. However, she quickly grew to dislike Margaret, finding her overbearingly hopeless romantic attitude, obsession with power, and tendency to play favourites intolerable. She met Marco after Colonel Hart introduced him to her, and she handed him a pile of paperwork he needed to complete for the Regular Army higher-ups after he awkwardly mistook her for his mother.
During the Great Morden War, she helped train new P.F. Squad recruits, assisted Marco's team with tactical plans, and provided mechanical support for any Metal Slugs that were recovered and brought back to HQ. Once the battle was over, she reluctantly comforted Margaret, who was distraught over the deaths of Tequila and Gimlet. The Regular Army high command recognized Sophia's war efforts and promoted her to the position of lead instructor at the Peregrine Falcons Squad's Combat Academy.
She served as mission command for Ralf and Nathalie during the Fierce Battle, providing them with their objectives and the current locations of the fake Rebels. After Ralf shared information about a logo he discovered on the Rebel cyborgs, which he learned about from Clark, she was able to confirm the Amadeus Syndicate's involvement in the operation by allowing the Regular Army scientists to conduct quick research on the organization. She was genuinely surprised that the Amadeus Syndicate was involved and had gone to such lengths to create an elaborate ruse for something much larger. Additionally, she served as mission command for Alisa Stewart during the Warrior Triumph, giving her information about her current objectives and confirming the involvement of Martians.

Nobody recognize this female Metal Slug character which she didn't have enough attention in the Metal Slug Community. This female Instructor name is Anne. She's a Regular Army Instructor, and her biography seems incomplete. Maybe SNK forgotten about her.
